It is also scary good. Hot, fresh tortilla chips, wild caught TODAY crab and shrimp, and fresh herbs. Everybody does ceviche a little differently but all i can say about Salvi is that they do it *right*. It goes without saying that their chicken is so good that finishing your plate is upsetting. Their sauce is incredible. Put your leftover sauce on your eggs. Put it on your baked potatoes. Try it as a crema with a little added lemon juice, drizzled over a salad. And the PUPUSAS. Peak comfort food. Somehow an incredible texture, like a warm embrace after struggling to navigate the world of gluten free restaurant flops. They absolutely deserve the price they charge, even if the price keeps us from patronizing them as often as we wish we could support them. let me be the one to say, as somebody with celiac, Salvi is an AMAZING restaurant to reserve for celebratory events. One day, i hope to pay Salvi to cater at a ceremony.

The regular version was good, the veggie not so much. Where it kinda failed was in functionality as it was difficult to eat without a mess. Nice server. Bartender was very cool.

Check out all the crispy goodness of their gluten-free fried chicken. That's right, gluten-free!

I had been craving pupusas, and the moment I saw they had a good variety to choose from, I knew he made the right choice. I ordered the pork with rice and beans pupusa and the chicken with beans pupusa, and both absolutely hit the spot. They were filling, flavorful, and comforting in the way only good, handmade pupusas can be. The curtido and sauce tied everything together perfectly. Honestly, I could've just stuck with the pupusas and been completely satisfied. But I was really craving plátanos, so I also ordered a side of plátanos with beans and crema ..and wow. That combination was next level. The sweetness of the plantains with the savory beans and creamy crema was so good that I've decided from now on, that's the only way I want to eat them. The whole meal kept me full and happy for hours. One thing to note: you do bus your own table here, which I personally don't mind at all! just something to be aware of when you visit. After I finished eating, I took a walk down Mississippi Avenue, which made the whole outing even better. It's such a charming stretch -- little boutique shops, a cute pet store, a piercing shop further down the street, and plenty of restaurants and dessert spots if you want to keep the day going. Comforting Salvadorian flavors, this spot is definitely worth stopping by.

The inside has a good amount of seating and the decor is lively and very casual. Our waitress was kind and welcoming. You get complimentary chips & salsa. I also had the queso fundido to start. It was insanely creamy and decadent. I got the jalapeño and beans & cheese pupusas. For only 5.95 each they were pretty large. The pupusas themselves were cheesy, satisfying, and flavorful and paired great with the tangy, fresh slaw on top. I appreciated how they provide a huge container of slaw and delicious hot sauces.

However, I wish it was bigger considering they charged $16+. We very much enjoyed the bean and cheese pupusas that were fulfilling enough to have 1 for each person. We ordered 3 and the cabbage was enough for 2 people. I recommend ordering extra if your 3rd person wants some as well. The place appeared clean and the workers were kind. Despite the cashier accidentally charging more and the price of it being higher than other spots we have been to, I would say you pay for the quality of the food. Other items can be overcharged (i.e a small fountain drink was $7).

This is not the case of Sivar's.... I've been coming to this small hole in the wall, in a middle of a busy Central American mall, next to Super Mercado in Hillsboro and I am keeping it to my heart. There is this amazing strong woman who is an angel in the kitchen! I have been trying her pupusas since she opened her place.... amazingly delicious and honestly prepared, right there, in front of you. I have been drinking her Atol de Elote and I love it... no milk. Horchata is amazing, no milk, just rice cinnamon water sugar and morro fruit. I'm talking about Salvadoran horchata here, not the milk infused Mexican stuff. Please, don't get me wrong, the Mexican horchata is delicious but the milk, it kills me, especially the condensed milk. What else? Caldo de res, beef soup. Holly smokes! Do you want beef soup that you eat it with a spoon? No need to cut your beef with a knife, because the meat was so tender and deliciously blended. Her work team and her efforts are incredible; this is my secret spot when I want to eat like a human, no industrial food here!
