Papusas is their speciality. The other customer said it was very authentic.
Yuli L.

A few months ago, after running errands at Ace Hardware, we decided to stop at Sabor Salvadoreno because we had wanted to try it for awhile. We walked in and immediately noticed that everyone was wearing masks (which was promising) and that they were open for dine-In or take out. We figured we would just do take out, but the server warmly convinced us to dine-in. We looked at each other and said "why not"? It was our first time dining out since March 2020 and everything seemed okay because it wasn't crowded and they had their business together. Their specialty is papusas. The server introduced them all and I decided to try all six of them with a side of plantains. My bf and the server were amazed by my bold decision, but no regrets! The papusas were pretty big so we only finished 3 of them. We also tried their fresh-fruit drink and a Salvadoran style horchata. The plantains came with crema and were very good too. Our server came back and chatted about his travels through Peru. It was a good diversion from the COVID-19 problems of the world. It was great because we left with a heavy box of leftovers and I am glad that the server convinced us to dine in.

Crazy burger

This was not worth it. The empanadas were the only good this about this trip. The crazy burger was missing items on the burger and looked nothing like the picture.

Pickled cabbage. Awfully good.

Genuine place. Right from the get go I knew I was in good hands. Server was SUPER friendly. Then the handformed corn tortilla arrived--steaming hot, shaped and griddled directly before serving. Died and went to heaven right then. Real food on the way. Simple, ancient and correct. Ok, the exterior might have been a tad, scant touch leathery, indicating a griddle set an eight turn high, but no bother. And next came the pupusa queso con loroca. Sooooo glad they have loroca. Sooo long since I have had a proper pupusa. Yum. Oh, it came with a rectangular tupperware of pickled cabbage shredded fine and studded with a few carrots and scattered dried Mexican oregano. Yes! The balance, sister, the balance. The main plate was a mujarra frita (fried tilapia) with rice and beans. All good, fresh tasting, crispy and juicy. A little salad, undressed, sat on the plate crowned with a couple of avocado slices. Aloha to Aloha!!

I ask for loroco pupusa and the tortilla. Because is a tortilla all the chess was outside.

House Plate

The best pupusas on the west side of Portland, hands down. Came here twice -- dined in and also for take out. Both times I ordered the House Plate that came with a little bit of everything: Pupusa, tamale, fried yucca and chicharon, and plaintains. Everything was delicious. I also love their tamarind drink! Customer service was friendly and fast. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat!

If you're looking for a traditional Salvadorian meal this is the spot! Great prices, big portions that will fill you up on a budget! I highly recommend trying the pupusa revuelta which has cheese, beans and pork all mixed up! So yummy! The other one I recommend is loroco and cheese for the no meat eaters! The service was prestige along with the ambiance! It felt like I was home with the hospitality they provide! I'm glad I found this hidden gem!

My boyfriend and I were visiting from Seattle and, for our last meal before heading back, we decided to check out Sabor Salvadoreño and I'm so glad we did! The food was SO good (the carne asada was my favorite) and the drinks were so tasty and refreshing for such a hot day. We got the chan, tamarindo, and arroz con leche drinks and were pleasantly surprised! What I truly loved most about this restaurant though was the service. The servers make you feel right at home and treat you like family. Would definitely come back again when I'm in the area!

The food here is amazing and authentic! They serve authentic Salvadoran food - the horchata is so good! I love to get their quesadilla to go for my morning coffee as well. Usual go to is the pupusas or a carne asada / camarones plate.

I love this place. Family owned business that's been around for 12 years now... Authentic family recipes. Fantastic food and drinks. And the people that work here are really nice. I'll definitely be back

I knew this place was not the same. Yet I wanted to get Pupusas and atol de elote. We got some Pupusas it took a longggggg time to get the order to go. They are flat as a pancake or hand made quesadilla. It barely has cheese or chicharrón. Honestly i couldn't taste any chicharrón. The topping has not flavor or salt. Salsa was ok yet I won't be coming back as they are over price $4.25.

This is not the case of Sivar's.... I've been coming to this small hole in the wall, in a middle of a busy Central American mall, next to Super Mercado in Hillsboro and I am keeping it to my heart. There is this amazing strong woman who is an angel in the kitchen! I have been trying her pupusas since she opened her place.... amazingly delicious and honestly prepared, right there, in front of you. I have been drinking her Atol de Elote and I love it... no milk. Horchata is amazing, no milk, just rice cinnamon water sugar and morro fruit. I'm talking about Salvadoran horchata here, not the milk infused Mexican stuff. Please, don't get me wrong, the Mexican horchata is delicious but the milk, it kills me, especially the condensed milk. What else? Caldo de res, beef soup. Holly smokes! Do you want beef soup that you eat it with a spoon? No need to cut your beef with a knife, because the meat was so tender and deliciously blended. Her work team and her efforts are incredible; this is my secret spot when I want to eat like a human, no industrial food here!

The people are incredibly kind, personable, and welcoming, with such positive energy. There's a real human connection here--you can tell they truly care about what they do, and you leave feeling fed in more ways than just food. And the food absolutely deserves the praise, too. The chicken empanada was perfectly crispy and full of flavor, and the chicken arepa was warm, cheesy, and so comforting, with tender shredded chicken that just hit. Everything tasted intentional and made with love. Even the sauce on the side brought everything together so well. I would honestly pay double for this experience--not because it's expensive (it's very reasonable), but because the food, the people, and the overall vibe are just that good. Beautiful food, beautiful people, beautiful company. They deserve the world. Highly recommend.

Everybody does ceviche a little differently but all i can say about Salvi is that they do it *right*. It goes without saying that their chicken is so good that finishing your plate is upsetting. Their sauce is incredible. Put your leftover sauce on your eggs. Put it on your baked potatoes. Try it as a crema with a little added lemon juice, drizzled over a salad. And the PUPUSAS.
