The technicians were polite, but the pricing for what was essentially "we couldn't find it" twice in a row is hard to justify. If you're getting a quote from this company, ask exactly what you get for the diagnostic fee and what happens if they don't find the cause -- in our case, the answer was pay again.

But what really stood out to me was Miles. Miles came out with Justin on a Thursday evening, and these two had the entire replacement installed and working in about an hour. Watching Miles work was honestly impressive. He had an incredible amount of energy, worked nonstop, and clearly takes tremendous pride in what he does. His work ethic was exceptional, and his attitude was just as impressive as his technical ability. He was friendly, professional, incredibly efficient, and genuinely seemed to care about getting the job done right. Miles is the epitome of a hard worker. He is exactly the kind of employee any company would be proud to have representing them. Called to have a plumber come check on a leak in our garage. I assumed it was the water heater,…read morebecause it was the only thing in the garage. The plumber didn't look at anything other than the water heater and stated it needs to be replaced. He quoted a price that made me swear immediately. I apologized as it was out of character, he said it was ok, but the water heater needed to be replaced and it was up to me. I told him if it needs to, I don't have any options, do what he needs to. As he was removing the water heater, I pointed out the areas there was water and I didn't think it came from the water heater as the water heater would have been spraying water in order to get that far. The plumber stated he has been doing this for over 20 years and he knows what he is doing. After the water heater was removed, he said it needed to drain. He left and came back about a hour later, the water heater dripped really slowly the entire time he was gone. I mentioned that if there was a hole in the water heater, wouldn't air go through the hole and help the water drain from the spigot faster. He stated that I didn't understand the science of it and that the hole closes when disconnected from the water because there is no longer presser. He completed the replacement and left. I swept out all the water from the garage and didn't think much of it. I checked on the garage the next day and the garage was full of water again. I called Steve's Plumbing and the same guy came out. He said that he needed to do an inspection of the house to find out where the leak was coming from, he said before he did, it would cost so much per hour to look for the leak. I told that's what he supposed to have done before, but he didn't look at anything other than the water heater and stated it needed to be replaced. He said it was my fault and that he didn't look for a leak because it was the water heater, I reminded him that I said their is leak in the garage which we needed him to look at and the only thing directly connected to water was the water heater. He repeated it was his fault, it was mine. I asked him to leave and stated at me and refused. Only after telling him he needed to leave the property or I would call the police because he wasn't welcomed, he finally left. I called another company, it turns out there was a pipe broke in the wall. The plumber explained all things Steve's Plumbing should have done to ensure the issue was corrected, more specially, checking the water pressure before work started and checking the water pressure when the job was complete to ensure the issue had been resolved. They also explained that we paid way too much replacing a water heater (which didn't need to be replaced). I'll never use Steve's Plumbing again.

Typically I went to The Water Store until…read moretheir prices got out of hand, then have been going to either grocery stores (Safeway, Times) or Walmart for drinking water. Store is on Alamaha a block or so behind the Minit Stop on your left. Parking is a limited at the front but there's lots of parking along the side of the driveway and behind the building. Don't let it deter you. I was happy to see a few things. First, their prices are reasonable. I want to say maybe $0.65 a gallon for filtered drinking water. They also have alkaline available. Second, the store is well staffed and maintained. Plenty of stations, all were clean, water on the floor was promptly mopped up with wet floor signs, cashiers were friendly and fast. Finally, I always enjoy when they have carts available to wheel your jugs to your car and they had several. If you're into merchandise, they sell water jugs and tshirts too. I will probably be going here from now on for a few reasons. First, I don't have to guess if the machine is gonna be working. It's faucets and they all work great. Both Walmart machines weren't accepting any bills today. Second, it's clean. One time I used a machine at Times in Kihei and there was vomit in the drain (probably a nearby local alcoholic unhoused person threw up in it; I reported it to the owner but was not contacted back or thanked). I remember the last time I contacted this company about their water machine in Kihei taking a dollar of mine, the owner quickly called me back, apologized and Venmo'd me the amount I lost. Their owners care about the customer experience. Finally, as stated before, the prices are reasonable. The Water Store at Maui Lani last I went was charging nearly $18 to fill three 5 gallon jugs. I'm glad this company hasn't gouged the prices that badly. Keep up the great work, Island!
