Switched over the last 6 months to this cleaner - I had previously been using a cleaner in Leesburg that had higher ratings, but is much further away for me. I'm probably one of the last people on earth that still wears suits for meetings. That means dry cleaning at least every other week. Suits are always properly cleaned, the press is excellent (this has been a problem for me elsewhere), but what most impresses me is their speed. I can drop off 4 suits on Wednesday, and pick them up on Friday for a trip. I couldn't get that kind of speed when I lived in a major city. Very polite service, and parking is generally pretty easy. I brought 6 shirts in to be dry cleaned when I picked them up 5 of them were mine and one was a random shirt that didn't belong to me. I brought it in to collect my last shirt and they had no idea what happened, where my missing shirt was, or who's shirt I had returned. They didn't offer any help to find it and shrugged it off as just being lost . Sorry. They also refused a refund for the cleaning of the missing shirt. We brought custom curtains in to be dry cleaned. Unfortunately three of the four panels were damaged during the process and are completely unusable. We kindly requested a refund for the $100 cost of cleaning due to the damages that they caused; not even the cost of replacement. Both owners exhibited the most unprofessional behavior I have ever encountered . The gentleman said they did not damage the items and suggested I "call the police and he would see me in court." I "should ask sun for a refund because that is what damaged them". The female owner became involved during my second attempt at a refund and recommended I purchase "better quality and not cheap" curtains in the future. I would never treat someone in the manner I was treated, especially a loyal customer to my business. I strongly discourage giving this location your business. read more

Let me begin by clarifying that this review is for their alteration/seamstress services only and not for their cleaning services. Additionally, I'd also like to clarify that there is obviously something wrong with me for continuing to give Purcellville Cleaners my business after the first incident. This review is more of a warning than anything else. Over the last three years I have had nothing but bad experiences with Purcellville Cleaners' ability to do, what I believe to be, simple alterations. For example, on one occasion I took three sets of trousers to get shortened and all three came back slightly different lengths, all of them being too long after being measured in the shop. I took a suit to get altered, again after being measured in the shop, and it came back fitting arguably worse than when I dropped it off. My wife took a dress in to get the sewn-in slip shortened and they somehow messed that up also, with the slip hanging on the outside of the dress. Just last week I took a martial arts gi to get a patch sewn on and today, when I picked it up, I noticed that it was placed about 4" lower than I had asked and was not double-stitched, for I was led to believe I was being charged a premium. If the poor alterations were not reason enough to not take your clothes here, the prices are astronomical. For example, the cost to get an 8" embroidered patch (poorly) sewn on an article of clothing is $25. Dress alteration can run about $40 and to shorten the length of pants is $25. Suit alterations (to a three-piece suit) is in excess of $100. And if that wasn't enough, the proprietors of Purcellville Cleaners do not accept responsibility for poorly made alterations, they have a strict no discount, no refund, no re-work policy. All things being equal, the owners of this company are incredibly polite. Every interaction I've had with them (bar the frustration I experience with their poor workmanship) has been pleasant. Also, in the summer they have very powerful fans turned up very high inside the store so their customers are not uncomfortable, which is nice. Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that every experience I've had with their cleaning services has been without incident. I don't know if their prices are competitive for the area but they seem reasonable to me. While I blame myself for continuing to go back to this shop due to its convenient location, rather than drive to Leesburg or Middleburg to visit a highly-reviewed seamstress/tailor, what happened today (with my martial arts gi) that has pushed me over the edge and has compelled me to share my experiences on Yelp. If you feel comfortable paying way too much money for a job that takes minutes to complete, and is done incorrectly, with zero recourse for a refund or to get the problem fixed at no additional cost to you, Purcellville Cleaners is for you. I went to pick up my kids (child size 6 tunic dress) that was altered and was charged $48! for them to take it in around the arms a bit and at the waist. the dress is not even $15. I thought when I looked at my receipt when I dropped it off, it said $28 and I still thought that was steep but I let it go. I was in complete shock of the charge today. And the lady looked at me and shrugged her shoulders like saying 'tough luck'. Two weeks ago I brought a dress back that they altered incorrectly and they thought it was funny. I did not as I had no other dress to wear to the function and was SOL. So this place will not get my business again. Their prices are ridiculous and their customer service is the absolute worse. This is a good enough dry cleaning shop for this area. They do a great job on suits and men's shirts. Everything else is just okay. I've been using this place for 9 yrs because it's better than the only other game in town. Cleaning is done in-house so there's less chance of loss. Beware - count your items, have them recount, and do the same thing when picking up. Pieces have magically disappeared. The response is usually, "no, no this is how many." Alterations are good, but keep it to simple things. They can take up the length on trousers, but I'd go somewhere else for dresses or any alterations more complex. I've never tried the shoe repair, so I can't comment on that. read more

Really disappointed in Purcellville Cleaners. We have been loyal customers for 18 years without a hitch, until this past fall. They lost two of my nice suit jackets and when confronted, refused to admit to losing them. We went three times to inquire about the jackets. The first time, they claimed to know nothing, as if we had never dropped them off. The second time, they claimed we had already picked them up. The third time they finally conceded "maybe someone else took them." No refund for the prepaid dry cleaning fee, no apology, no NOTHING. After giving them our business for nearly twenty years this was truly upsetting. We will no longer be returning! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CLOTHES HERE. I had four shirts damaged here on different occasions (All four had tears in the exact same spot on the left sleeve). The proprietor said that it was impossible that they caused the damage and refused to take responsibility or offer to reimburse. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS TAILOR/CLEANER. My friend went to get her dressed hemmed on a Thursday which she needed for an occasion the following Friday, and they said it would be ready by Sunday at 5. She went to get it at Sunday, and they said they haven't started it yet and It'd be ready on Wednesday at 5. She went to get it on Wednesday and they STILL hadn't started it. They said it'd be ready on Friday at 12, and when she went to get it, the lady was hemming it as she walked in the door. She gave some bs excuse about "the lining of the dress", and said it'd be ready at 1:30. Well, my friend just went to get the dress, and it was $95.00 JUST TO HEM THE DRESS. This is an unacceptable price. It was a simple hem, no other alterations, and it took them over a week to do it, and then charge her with this price? At any other cleaner I have ever been to, it is AT MOST $25 to get a dress hemmed. Worst tailor/cleaner I have ever heard of/been to. read more

I have lived in Purcellville for 12 years. I used to bring my dry cleaning to another establishment in town, but they are no longer in business. I started using P-Ville Cleaners mostly out of convenience. The first few drop-offs went fine, BUT I recently brought 7 pairs of wool dress slacks and two shirts in for cleaning. When I returned to pick them up, they could not find them. They told me they would keep looking and call me - I said no problem - thinking they would find them. I never received a call back. I stopped by, they still have not located them. The troubling aspect is, no one has ever called to update me on the search. As of now I am out 7 pairs of pants and 2 shirts UGH!! Losing clothes happens and it sucks, but not communicating and pretending it didn't happen is just poor customer service. read more

My family has been coming here for 15 years and has had very good relationship with the owners. Until recently my mother had dropped off a formal gown and four of my fathers dress shirts. When she went to go pick up these 5 items weeks later, the dress was not there. When my mother asked where her dress the woman working told her she had already picked it. (My parents had been out of town this whole time) long story short, we have been to the cleaners three time asking for the dress. Every time being told that WE lost the dress at home and they do not have it. They have never once offered compensation for the dress or even acknowledged that they might be at fault for our lost dress. After reading other reviews it's obvious the owners refuse to take responsibility for their actions and clearly this isn't the first time this has happened. Needless to say we will never be returning to this cleaners. read more
