This review comes from FIRST HAND RECENT EXPERIENCE with Purchase Green in this Concord, CA location as well as the location in Petaluma, CA. FINAL REVIEW - FAIL - ZERO STARS 10 weeks post install and my final review. Here's the low down: I called Purchase Green (Petaluma) at (707) 948-6658 regarding questions I had around artificial turf for pet areas on a raised deck. They offered to come out to my house to evaluate my deck and if appropriate, give a free estimate for installation of a pet friendly turf. Drake arrived a few days later and I let Drake know that I had used another product previously but it had retained the smell of urine (I have two dogs) so badly that I had to throw it out. That I wasn't interested in purchasing the same kind of product, but a pet specific one that would work on my deck. Drake and his supervisor were well aware of the concerns I had around installing the turf and not having it be up to the task of my two dogs (one medium, one small)... He assured me their pet product was made specifically for situations just like mine... people with pets in smaller spaces, that it was made for it, and had "many more drain holes" than other products, making it ideal for pet spaces. Plus, he said the sand and deodorizer that would be inside of it would take care of anything that might otherwise come through other products. He said my deck was an ideal spot for their specific pet friendly turf, and if anything started to stink they would guarantee it and come out and remedy it for free. That the warranty covered everything but burns from the sun. I asked about drainage and what they would use and Drake called his boss right then to ask, I heard him relay the type of deck it was (Trex) and ask about drainage tiles or a "pan" he had known about. He was told they didn't have either of these things in stock to install but it "wouldn't be an issue on a deck" and he assured me if it was, they would fix it. This guarantee and promise of "a great warranty Purchase Green provided for all issues other than sun burn", along with Drake getting the additional confirmation from HIS supervisor made me confident in going ahead with the purchase and installation of the artificial turf. Initially it was exactly what we wanted. But then.. Less than 4 weeks after the install of the product, the temperatures rose here to just 55 degrees and that seemed to be the "magic temp" for the odor to reveal itself. I immediately texted Drake who said that should not be happening and that they would "take care of it" (see previously attached text screenshots) and I've been given the runaround ever since. The temps have increased with the season and we can no longer sit on our deck, keep our door open for the dog, and the next door neighbor is complaining about the smell. For document of all communications beginning one month post install (when odor began to become unbearable) and concluding today with receipt of their final decision to not cover anything and actually even going so far as to say they would charge me an additional $1200 to come uninstall it, visit the BBB, or just ask me. At this point I hold the owners 100% responsible for the lack of integrity in this company as the Regional Manager did end up going the distance for us, and she could only go so far. UPDATE TWO MONTHS LATER: Stunningly stinky. Started only one month after install. Literally breathtaking. Been working with PG for a month to get it under control and learned the install was done without proper drainage (was told they didn't have the drainage items then, but now they do. Not sure why it was allowed to be installed without). Am being sent additional quote for "drainage tiles and labor" for uninstall and proper reinstall... stay tuned for a full review. As it stands, deck is unusable and my doors/windows and neighbors doors/windows have to stay closed. For reference, we have one small dog and one medium. Looking forward to being able to double down on original glowing recommendation soon but it's looking highly unlikely. Maybe they'll surprise me. Check back next week for final verdict. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We needed a place for the dogs to play (and stuff) that could withstand the coastal elements as well as the pet factor (this is real, folks... don't just lay Wayfare grass and call it a day. Found Purchase Green on the internet and went to visit their Concord CA store. My wife and I were greeted by Trevor and we told him what we wanted to do. He drew up our design on the board and gave us an estimate of how much artificial grass we would need. He gave us a list of other items we may need to do the installation and an estimate on how much it would cost us for the materials. He even gave us a sample to take home to see if we liked it. Even though they do installation service, he was not pushy in getting us to use this service. We went back the following week and order the necessary materials. The delivery date was set and was delivered as scheduled, except that a bag of infill top sand was missing from the order. The driver said he would go back and get the extra bag of sand. A couple of hours later, Trevor dropped the missing bag of infill sand to us. We showed him the area where the artificial grass was going to be installed and he gave us a few pointers and was very supportive of us. Trevor explained the process of how to install the artificial turf from a properly prepared base to stretching and seam cuts. But the most important point he made was the blade direction. We did not understand this until we started our installation and then it dawned on us what he was telling us. That one bit of information saved us a lot of time and frustration. All in all, the project went pretty smoothly, except for a small mound we were putting the artificial grass on. It got a lot of ripples and bumps. After getting advice from Trevor (and Rob), and with some cuts and seaming and a lot of infill top sand on the artificial grass, it came out looking pretty good. Based on Trevor's and Rob's suggestions, most of the seams are not noticeable. They did not try to sell us anything that we did not need, yet when we needed guidance, they were very willing to give us advice on how to fix our mistakes due to our inexperience. My husband and myself have been thinking about artificial grass for a long time. We both have different opinions on what we think would look best. We have 2 small dogs and 2 small children. We visited the Concord location and we were immediately greeted by everyone when we walked in and I mean we all came in the dogs too!! We were immediately joined my such a nice lady who even got down to greet our dogs & gave them water. The woman Lisa Polker asked us questions that made sense, what is our needs, what part of Bay Area do we live in, where on the property will it go and is there direct sunlight during the day. She went over all the turf options and recommended we go with a kid friendly, pet friendly & cool yarn called Arizona She even asked about the colors of our house & ascetics to help with color options. She went into my concerns and recommended the antibacterial, antimicrobial sand & ways of cleaning it so the dogs potties won't linger in smell & when she heard my husband is a veteran she gave a little veteran discount to ease the cost & thanked him for his service! (That is old school!!) She took care of everything even the right amount of nails, barrier, sand and delivery She showed my husband the best way of installing w/ tips tricks, how to seam it together, best way to avoid waste & links to website for everything. Once we were ready a few weeks later we just called her (she remembered everything) took the info on a Tuesday evening from home. (7:00pm she answered) and we had it delivered the next day! Everything was like working with someone who really cared. She insisted we keep in touch & called a week later to check in and asked for photos. I dont know of she is the owner or just someone who loves her job but she made it very special for us. THIS IS FOR THE SAN DIMAS LOCATION: If I could give them a 0 star rating I would...I am a contractor and I purchased 2 carpet knives and a turf puller ($425) from them for a job. I needed them for a weekend job about 1 week away but they did not arrive in time for the job which wasn't the end of the world. I spoke to them on the phone and explained that to them and said that I'd keep the knives but wanted to return the turf puller. They said no problem as long as it wasn't used. I SWEAR ON MY CHILDREN that it didn't leave my living room and was out of the box no more than 1 minute for me to get the knives out that fell under the turf puller during shipping. I re-packaged the item and sent it back to them on my dime. When they received the return they called me and said that they wouldn't issue me a refund. The warehouse manager said the item was dirty and obviously used, then returned. Not sure how it got dirty, maybe the mangers hands/gloves were dirty when he removed it from the packaging but they are refusing to refund my money and making me pay again for the return shipping. WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. PLENTY OF OTHER COMPANIES OUT THERE. All turf basically comes from the same 4 or 5 manufacturers so there are plenty of choices for you . I'd leave some of them on here but I don't want you to think this review is from one of the competitors so just do a google search and you can find plenty of other honest companies to do business with. Updated Review: Initially, I had a terrible experience with Purchase Green (Concord, CA). After paying a premium price for my artificial grass, the installers and I immediately noticed a defect upon installation. I reported the issue right away, and while I was assured it would be handled, I spent months following up with no resolution. Calls and emails were ignored, and I was told conflicting information about whether they would fix the issue. However, I want to acknowledge that the Concord team was very supportive throughout this ordeal. The real issue was with the warranty department and Mark Yates, who failed to take responsibility and made the process unnecessarily difficult. It took persistent efforts and countless follow-ups before the Concord office was finally able to push for a resolution and have the defective grass replaced. I appreciate that the Concord team ultimately made it right, but the process should not have been this frustrating. Good customer service means standing by your warranty without forcing customers to fight for it. If you're considering Purchase Green, be aware that their warranty department may not be as reliable as promised. While the final result is satisfactory, the stress and effort required to get there were exhausting. Would I recommend them? The Concord team, yes. My parents did their grass with this company many years and that was great then...now 10-15 years later, boy have the grass options have come so far. I highly recommend Purchase Green Artificial Grass in Concord, CA. I purchased the artificial turf with Rob's assistance (over the phone). I needed the turf during the Covid-19 Quarantine. I explained what I needed and he helped me select it. He set me up with the turf, turf scissors, seam tape and glue, nails, sand and lots of advice. I started my project last year and it came time to install the turf in April. I really lucked out that they answered my request for a turf quote via their website. They were one of 2 companies (out of 5) that answered my request. Their customer service and response time was amazing even with modified hours during SIP. After I placed the order, everything was delivered in 3 days. The gentleman that delivered everything gave me a few tips. I had to call Rob a few times during the install. He sent me pictures and links to help me out during seaming and nailing. I rented the equipment to spread the sand and the brush it into the turf. These last steps, I didn't really know I needed to do them. I didn't know how to space out the nails either. (I recommend a carpet stretcher-it really made a difference). I found this place in Concord on Yelp so I decided to check their website, which surprisingly had prices on it. I gave them a call and spoke to someone for about 10 minutes. He explained everything I need to do to install it myself and which option of Artificial Grass would work best for my needs and my dimensions. A couple days later my family and I decided to stop by and see the options up close and make our decision. We were introduced to Veer who was extremely knowledgeable about their products. We made a sketch of the area and came out of there within 30 minutes with our grass and exactly what we needed for our project. Basically what we had been trying to do for the last 2 years, but never moved forward because we never knew enough about it. If you've ever thought about getting Artificial Grass, call these guys or stop by, you will understand everything in human terms and make a knowledgeable decision you won't regret. First time to have artificial turf installed in our backyard, and I feel blessed to have the pleasure of working with Purchase Green. Aaron came to give me an estimate initially after schedule being moved. Had second thoughts about the first estimate but we were able to work out an agreeable amount. Then the team he had provided to work on our yard was quick, professional and over-all great! Steve and his crew are awesome! Enough to have me ask for another estimate, (same crew) this time to install at the other side of the yard. The estimate for the next job was higher than I expected but this was due to a minimum project amount requirement and so-called wastage. The grass looked real. When Aaron came for the estimate he only showed me one kind (Arizona Platinum Olive) so I can't compare it to others, but just basing off his opinion for it being the best and our personal experience, it wasn't a bad choice! As a pool contractor for almost 30 years, I have seen many of backyard landscapes, some very extensive and upscale. One day working on a pool, I see the landscapers break ground on a project on the other side of the yard. I thought wow, the yard is beautiful already, I wonder how they could improve it. We looked at the larger box stores and then bumped into Purchase Green in Concord. We worked with Lisa and were incredibly pleased with her expertise and suggestions.
