Sam is very much a special individual that brings more than just giving instructions on positions in a class. On Tuesday, June 24th, I attended a class at this studio, excited to support a local business and focus on my health. Initially, the space felt welcoming and the energy was upbeat. During the first part of the class, the instructor, Larry Taylor made a few adjustments to my form, which I interpreted as helpful. However, the tone quickly shifted. About 15 minutes in, during a Bulgarian split squat, Larry approached me abruptly, leaned in close, and began shouting in my ear, "Straighten your leg! Can you hear? Can you hear?", completely disregarding the loud music or the possibility of a hearing issue. When I calmly replied that I couldn't hear due to the volume, Larry responded by grabbing the back of my neck, at which point I heard a pop near my shoulder. I quickly gathered my things and left to avoid further escalation. At the front desk, I realized there was no one else present for support or safety. I went straight to urgent care, where I was later referred to Kaiser and remained until 1 a.m. This experience, which began as a step toward wellness, left me shocked, hurt, and deeply disappointed. This is literally why I don't go places. To date, no one from this organization has reached out to address the situation or apologize. The cameras at this studio, DO NOT WORK. Safety and client morale is not a priority here. You may just end up like me in ER or worse. I owe my last fews years back to normalcy to her!…read more I had been having extreme shoulder pain for a couple of years so my orthopedic doctor recommended that I start doing pilates as a means of strengthening. I tried Pilates at another place that offered group classes and I was very vocal about my shoulder so they would help me modify as to not hurt or aggravate anything since they go so fast and have other people to teach at the same time as me. That didn't happen so needless to say after 3 classes I left in tears and a full blown tear in my rotator cuff as my MRI pointed out a week later. I was devastated. After my experience at the other place and a now annoying 2x a week physical therapy regime prescribed to me for for 3 months the LAST thing I was going to do was Pilates again! Well let's call it divine intervention, because 2 weeks later I randomly met Erica through an acquaintance totally unbeknownst to me that she owned a Pilates studio. After some talking and my hesitance she offered me a personal training session to see how I felt...You can imagine how nervous I was but there was something that made me trust her. And WOW. I could not believe the difference between her training approach and the other place. WOW. I signed up right away! Unfortunately my rotator cuff tear had not been getting any better with physical therapy (the Pilate's was helping with my mobility and range of motion a lot though) so I had to have a major surgery. I was able to go back to Erica about 3 months later after I finished my post surgery physical therapy and I can honestly say that Erica and My Pilates Body helped me to get back on the mend and become a normal, shoulder friendly, functioning person again. Now 2 1/2 years after that surgery I am still a devoted patron of My Pilates Body and Erica is still training me! And I'm INJURY FREE! 100 stars if I could give more than 5!

The new people in corporate will lie, reneg on promises made, and make fraudulent charges with no hesitation in doing so. They agreed to a certain rate for my membership, and although it was never discussed or agreed upon, they downgraded my membership tier without ever disclosing it. I have emails that back this up. However, this isn't one instance. Since the new corporate team has moved in, I have had several charges added to my account that I didn't agree to, I've spoken to people who have experienced the same, and the corporate staff hide behind the people working at the front desk, leaving those workers to deal with clients angered about it because they are too cowardly to answer for their own actions. I cannot in good faith recommend this studio to anyone, and I've been a member since 2014 (which means nothing to them). The new corporate team came in only recently. I suggest everyone here vote with their dollars, which are becoming more and more precious in this economy.
