There were some places offering $10 a day pass but didn't have a sauna or steam room. This place had both plus an ice room. Which was more like a really high air conditioning room. Nothing like serious cold. They also had a pool which seemed like only a bunch of old people use. The training area with turf was really nice but if that stop light is red (I posted a picture) that means the trainer is there with a client and you're not allowed. If it's orange you are allowed but to be careful and green it's a free for all. Not many people use it but it has bunch of cool equipment to use there too. The gym had everything and I was only able to find one thing broken which is rare at a gym this big. They also have one of those dryers for your bathing suits in the mens locker room if you do bring a bathing suit for sauna or pool. It's a bring your own towel like most gyms but for such a high gym membership I thought they may include that but nothing I could really complain about this gym except pricing.

The studio is small a small mirrored room with ballet barres on all walls. It is clean and organized, and there is upbeat music playing throughout. It probably fits about ~20 students. They offer several classes a day. I've only taken the barre amped so far - which is a pretty typical barre class. We started with a series of arm exercises (small movements, light weights), moved into thighs/glutes at the barre and then moved to the floor for abs (planks, high curl etc.). At $15 a class, it is reasonable for barre. In LA and Chicago, I've seen barre cost $25 a class. The class flowed well and Sarah strikes a nice balance between instruction and encouragement. I am a muscular, in shape woman & my body still convulsizes during the exercises in class. If you want long, lean, toned body this workout is for you. Membership is a little pricey due to the small classes & individualized attention from the instructors however I think it's in line with or cheaper than Barre classes in other markets. Plus, she often runs email deals & promos. The instructors really pay attention to your form & posture offering little modifications & corrections. My only compliant is there is not water fountain to fill up from. Refill your reusable water bottle before you get here because it won't fit under the sink faucet in the bathroom. Overall, a fun workout that compliments my more traditional strength & cardio program.

I mean, what if they don't?! (We've all seen that meme of our summer body post coronavirus. Ya know, the one of a circle?! Ugh.) Well. I personally have tried to keep my fitness routine up as a way of de-stressing. Because trust me... global pandemics make me anxious. Crashing economies make me fearful. Homeschooling my kiddos makes me nervous. (And on a lesser note... the fact that pool days and summer are indeed approaching makes me both uneasy and thrilled.) Luckily, so many local businesses are offering virtual classes. Hothouse Yoga has two classes a day on Zoom. Heck yes! This review is strictly on their online services during the pandemic. On day nineteen of my distancing I partook during the lunch hour. I adored the sense of community. Even though I could really only see my instructor, Sarah, just knowing others were doing what I was doing was oddly exhilarating. What a fabulous vinyasa class-- I could feel my stress leave my body. Hothouse Yoga... in a normal, non-distancing time... is in a super convenient location right downtown. A parking ramp lives across the street. (First hour free.) The folks that work here are very passionate and knowledgeable. Pricing is... standard? ($100 a month unlimited classes for non-students, $70 for students.) Thank you, Hothouse Yoga. You got me to feel like everything was semi-normal today. I can't wait to vinyasa with you again soon.
