I joined Pure Barre about 6 weeks ago and I'm hooked. Addicted in the best way! I've never looked forward to working out like this before. It's become something I genuinely enjoy! They offer a variety of classes, so it's never boring. I started with Engage, a 30 minute full body workout that's perfect when you're short on time but still want to feel the burn. All the classes focus on low-impact, small movements that really strengthen and tone. It's this awesome mix of Pilates, yoga and ballet. My go to classes now are: Classic- a full body low impact, high intensity workout with light weights and a ball. Define - focuses more on weight base strength training. Align- great for strength and flexibility Mat Pilates- No weights but surprisingly intense and fun! I always leave feeling stronger! What really keeps me coming back is the vibe, energy, music and the instructors. Honestly it's hard to pick a favorite because they all bring something different. Diana is tough in the best way! I can see and feel the results. Nicole teaches Mat Pilates and somehow makes it fun while your abs and tush are on fire. Hannah, Colleen and April all have great energy and are super thorough with form and motivation. It's more than just a workout studio. It feels like a little community of friends. Everyone's friendly and supportive. If you're looking for something that tones you up quickly and keeps you coming back for more, then Pure Barr might be for you. Took a free trial class here as I'm exploring and trying to find a new gym to join. The instructors are SO friendly and make sure you're set up for success. The class was intense but the time flew by with good music and good energy. The space is cute and easy to distance in. If only I wasn't still a trying to pay for school, I'd 100% get a membership here, but for now it's a little too pricey highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun way to get toned. Wow an all body workout perfect for me as an older mom! Challenging with results after 8-10 workouts. Absolutely shocked by how physically challenging the Pure Barre classes are! The Pure Reform class was especially difficult. Doing the One month unlimited special, then going to couple times a week and really enjoying it. The best way to describe it is small movements that tone the whole body. You start with a small warm up in that targets the whole body. You move onto arms with lightweights; again it's all really small movements but man does it burn! Then onto bar movements which target the booty and legs. Then ends with a seven minute ab routine. There's definitely a flow to the class but no class I've been to has been alike, them mix up the moves and exercises. Super full body good work out I've always felt very satisfied leaving class. My only complaint is for a regular pass it's pretty pricey. If you commit to a year membership which is long time it's $139 a month. If you make a six-month commitment it's even more expensive a month. If it was a straight $99 a month, month-to-month rate I would jump in full force. read more

This was my first visit to this location, and my first barre class overall. Do I like barre? I don't know. Not sure it's going to be a regular in my workout rotation, but I might give it another try after I'm not on day 3 of no carbs/no alcohol. Definitely was lacking a little in the energy department. The studio is impeccably clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. They have a variety of days and times to meet your schedule needs, and I was super happy that the instructor took a poll to see if she should play Christmas music or stick with the regular stuff. I'm already working out, I shouldn't have to hear "Little Drummer Boy" at the same time. Thought that she did a great job gently correcting posture and execution of movements without feeling like she was in your space all the time, and I appreciated that she knew people's names and recognized them. Music was upbeat and I can tell that if you stick with it, you'll definitely be rocking some long and lean muscles, so maybe that's enough to convince me to come back. I guess we'll see... read more

I'm about 18 classes in and feeling the groove despite being so not graceful or natural at dance - rhythm gene missed me entirely. But I love that this program challenges me to hold my body in ways that are unfamiliar. I've noticed my posture is better and I feel longer. I have spent the better part of 25 years sitting at a desk and I know my hips are thanking me every time I finish a class. More and more release each day. I just signed up for a year and I'm looking forward to watching my body evolve and continue to lengthen. I've run three full marathons and a bunch of halfs and this somehow is harder to me... in a good way. Like a puzzle I need to figure out. I have been going to Pure Barre since they opened in October 2016. Pure Barre is truly addicting and now that I've found it, I can't imagine stopping. There is a learning curve to pick up the basics of barre, but they have a Pure Barre Foundations class you can take that breaks it all down so that you get the most out of your workouts. I have a problem with my knee caps dislocating so many exercises are out of the question for me. One of the reasons I love Pure Barre so much is I can do 95% of the exercises without problem and the rest I can modify the movements and it's fine. The instructors have been helpful in suggesting alternatives for exercises that I can't do which has been great. The very best part of Pure Barre is the instructors....Anna, Hannah, Adrian, Nicole S, Nicole R, Alida and owner Micah are all amazing. They are passionate about barre, inspiring and fun. If you're thinking about checking this place out...do it! You will love it! read more

PURE BARRE After attending my first drop-in, never having heard or seen anything about Pure Barre, I signed up with their 6-Week Unlimited special for $149.00. This is a great deal if you can commit to going 2x per week, as the drop-in fee is a steep $23.  While this price was not posted to their internal system, I was able to get it taken care of by speaking with the owner, Micah Kraemer, whom is very pleasant and clearly passionate about her business.    Six classes deep and I'm starting to get into the swing of the sequences.  Classes run nonstop for 60-75 minutes and are total body focused, with an emphasis on core strength. First you run through a few arm and shoulder movements with optional 2-3lbs weights--the exercises are very simple movements, (bicep curls, bent over row, etc.). Don't be fooled, this is quickly exhaustive with max intensity effort. Second, you'll do about 30 minutes of leg and glute work along the barre. These movements are also simple, (pulsing squats, leg extensions, etc.) and rely on endurance to get you sweating. Finally, the last stretch of class is all abs with some light stretching to finish. Most of this portion is performed on a mat, which is a nice break from the first 45-50 minutes of class. Expect a lot of crunches with some interesting variations. Overall, Barre is a twice removed cousin to yoga, with similar rigidity as Bikram, and most closely related to Pilates. While locations outside of Reno offer a variety of Barre workouts, this location currently only offers one. Each class I've attended has been 70% unchanging exercises from previous classes and 30% different exercises than the previous classes. After trying four different instructors, I highly recommend attending one of Nichole Shutt's sessions.  She is wonderful at leading and is very attentive to each individual student, ensuring that proper form is being used. I'm an avid fitness junkie and find the classes to be challenging, even with a background in weights, dance, yoga, and Pilates. I would not recommend this workout for beginners or for people who are trying to get back into working out.  This business would improve by offering some slower paced, beginner classes and I would love to see some specialty classes offered as well. read more

Love this workout. It is tough, so if you don't want to work hard this may not be your thing. But there are tons of ways to modify so it is accessible to everyone. It changed the way my body looks and feels. After 2 kids...I have ABS!! My endurance and strength has improved tremendously. I'd been trying various classes this year before I found Pure Barre and OMG was this a shock. You would think I was in shape given the Pilates and OTF classes I was doing every week but nothing prepares you for a PB class. It's very challenging and I've found that in just a few weeks, I'm sculpting even faster than I was before. I just put in my first day riding at Mt.Rose and the preseason workouts from PB paid off big time. Boarding this year will be a breeze. Reform is very challenging and has some Pilates aspects to it. Pure Barre Classic remains my favorite. Every class has upbeat instructors who somehow manage to get to every student to correct form throughout class. Some have better music than others- always mixes that you can close your eyes, get lost in, and focus. And trust me, you'll need to gather some inner strength to get through some of class. read more

I started Pure Barre three years ago and at the time was weight lifting three times a week and trying to work in cardio. Pure Barre Reno is the most effective and challenging work out you'll ever do! It is 100% addicting and SOOO much fun! Fast paced, great music, and the most amazing instructors! From the very moment I walked through their doors I was welcomed by the owner Micah Kraemer, she was very attentive and helpful as to what I needed to know for my very first barre class! I will say it does take about 6-7 classes to get the hang of it. It's very small, small movements (seriously ONE inch) which took some getting used too as I was used to lifting heavy weights and very large movements which are so hard on the body. I found myself getting injured quite often doing my own thing at the gym. In pure bare it's almost like having a personal trainer bc they are there to adjust your movements to ensure you are getting a proper workout without injury! I've attended over 50+ classes and they still have the patience to come over and help correct my form. On several occasions I've stayed after class with multiple questions on certain moves from class and each instructor has taken the time to show me the proper form. I honestly couldn't recommend a better place to get your sweat on. Not only is it the best workout but they have the cutest boutique! Such amazing workout clothes that are very unique! I joined using a $99 for a month deal. This place is very clean and really cute. What was just A-OK about it was that I told them that I was new... Brand new to barre. They didn't offer any modified movements to the new people. In all of the boot camps I have taken, there was always a modified move to help if you have , for example, a bad back or you are just starting out. Not all women can do push up's right away. There is always a modified movement for this so you can still get a workout. They also never offered extra assistant on the classes. So I feel that for most of the classes, I wasn't doing the moves correctly. This type of exercise, it's all about precise moves. I took a total of 10 classes. I was sore, believe me but I really just didn't enjoy it there. Also, there is only 1 type of class here, as you will see if you look at their schedule. The other place that I have researched has different ones, which I want to look into. It sounds more my speed. read more

This studio is "soft opening", offering free classes from Oct.19-23. I took a community class today. It was my first time practicing barre so it took a little bit to get a hang on it. The best I can describe it is as a mix of yoga/pilates/ballet. A ballet bar and other props were used in the practice. The studio is at the Meadows Mall, great location, plenty of parking space and within walking distance from Grateful Gardens (yum!). The studio is minimalistic, decorated in white and red, well lit, ballet barre, comfortable temperature. There is a small but comfortable waiting area and shelves for personal belongings. The class is designed for a small group, probably no more than 15 people. We all had enough personal space plus easy access to the barre and props. The instructor had good energy and was paying close attention and suggesting modifications as it was the first experience for most of us. I had a very good workout, I am sure I will be sore tomorrow. This review might go on forever as there are SO many things I love about Pure Barre Reno! From the first class I took I felt extremely welcomed the second I walked thru the doors. The instructors are some of the best I've ever had in my entire life...they encourage you, push you, motivate you and make sure you have proper technique (which is HUGE to me as it helps prevent injury)! I've never seen instructors be more hands on with clients ensuring every move is done to perfection! The Pure Barre community is something I've never found anywhere else. I came in as a stranger and leave every day giving my new friends hugs and positive words of encouragement. Pure Barre is absolutely addicting as each class is different and makes you strive to perfect your Pure Barre form. The thing I love about Pure Barre is, it's for everyone and anyone... doesn't matter your body type, height, stature, size, age, etc. Pure Barre is extremely challenging and I leave feeling amazing (and drenched) each class...who knew that moving up and down and inch could give you chiseled abs and a toned body?! Anyone who knows me knows how passionate I am about Pure Barre Reno and I want everyone in my life (female AND male) to give it a shot. Everyone I have taken has fallen in love their first class, just like I did! The mind body connection allows you to disconnect from the world for an entire hour which is much needed in this fast paced life! I took my first class last week. I will definitely be back and definitely be getting a membership. My instructor was Anna and she was great! Everything was consistent with a great tempo allowing me to get the hang of it. I am new to Pure Barre, but could tell through just one class that this type of workout works on defining all of the right places. I have no interest in bulking, just toning, every exercise seems perfect for women! Highly recommend for a clean and uplifting atmosphere.
