This was my first time dining here, and I honestly think it will be the last as well. I ordered the Cauliflower and lentil soup, which was great, but not very hot. I also ordered the Asian salad as it was listed on the board. The girl working began making it with different ingredients that were listed, so I asked her if she was making the same salad listed, and she said they had changed it that morning. This was never mentioned when i ordered the salad and she seemed annoyed that I wanted the salad that is advertised in the store. She put entirely too much dressing on it, and I heard the person in line behind me get asked if they wanted it on the side or light, medium, or extra. I just felt like a burden because I wasn't informed of the change in menu as it is listed. They seemed to be out of a lot of ingredients and items as well. read more

I had read the article in the Boston Globe the other day so when I met my sister in Brookline for dinner, we decided to give Pure Cold Press a try. We weren't disappointed. The decor is so pretty, fresh, and welcoming. Haim greeted us and pointed out a few things, and Rami later shmoozed the tables - a nice touch. Even the bathroom was beautiful and spotless. My sister had the "custom salad" - a container with a base of her choice of salad greens plus selections from the salad bar. I saw hard boiled eggs, beets, feta salad, tofu, tomatoes, among other selections, some marinated. It cost about $9.50. I chose the salad that comes portioned. For this they charge by the portion; I had spinach which was mixed with roasted figs and hazelnuts, roasted cauliflower, and a feta/onion/tomato salad, It came to about $8.00. (other choices were roasted asparagus, purple quinoa salad, faro salad, baby kale, and more that I can't remember) It was delicious. I don't write reviews on here, but I'm so disgusted by their salads/salad bar that I felt compelled to write. Let me start off by saying that I've lived in Coolidge Corner for 10 years and have been waiting for a place like this (Sebastian's, Cosi, Sweetgreen etc.). This is not it. Their small salad bar (make-your-own) leaves a whole lot to be desired. It's NEVER full, in fact for 4 times I've been in there it's nearly empty. That combined with the fact that 4 ingredients in there are usually nuts. I've had 4 salads there and today's will be my last. They barely put any lettuce in the container today, mine was mostly all wilted and mushy. The prepared foods are completely separate and very expensive. I was also told that you can't combine the salad bar with the prepared food. I would agree with the other person who said that this restaurant should be listed as expensive. My next-to-nothing salad today was $10.31. I've had bigger, fresher salads at Sweetgreen for less than that. I had high hopes for their salads and even returned multiple times with the hopes that the bar would be more appealing and plentiful, but today will be my last visit. read more

The juices are terrific and so are the salads, but I have to say that the service is about the worst I've ever seen. If there's more than one person in line, be prepared to WAIT. And wait. And wait. They have pretty much no process and, since they are in the food service industry, they should probably figure out how to make food, you know, before the sun finishes it rotation around the earth. In addition, they're constantly running out of stuff. Some days, they have a full cooler of juices. Other days, nothing is stocked until the afternoon - and then only with half of their products. Other days nothing's there at all. I've honestly never seen anything like it... It's like whoever's running the place is kinda doing it as a hobby, because they never seem to broken up about the fact that they never have stuff. It's almost like they don't really care about their customers, to be honest. It's too bad because it could be a great place. Instead, in the Brookline tradition, it's a poorly run business that would do well from competition that would either make them up their game or put them out of business. read more

This is one of those "you get what you pay for" situations... I like high quality ingredients and am willing to pay a premium for that. I also want the place to be sterile-clean and everybody to look happy when they serve me because they are paid and treated well (I sure hope that's the case!). I completely understand people complaining about prices, but there are many cheap places in Boston that I would rather avoid (say anything near South Station!!!) and instead pay more. Very good! Very healthy! Love the people that work there, they are very nice and good service. I highly recommend the portable mushroom. Everything is very fresh and you can make it your own. The dressings are also delicious. I will say that when it gets busy it can take a while to get through the line because everything is made right in front of you. I went this morning for a smoothie and realized how much more cold press has to offer. Prepared pasta salads, salsas, fresh make your own salad bar, pressed juice, and smoothies. This is a must visit restaurant. Exceptional. My only complaint is that they don't offer protein as a smoothie add-on. Peanut butter is an option though and that was delicious. Excellent and much-needed addition to Coolidge Corner. Great selection of freshly made juices with creative combinations. Delicious fresh cold salads - you can get a few of them in a bowl to try. Wonderful smoothies with great texture. They make their own almond milk which takes 48+ hours to do properly and the result is well-worth it. The staff are super friendly and helpful. You will feel healthier after just one visit here. It's pricey but worth it unless you are committed to making all this healthy food at home! read more

My only complaints are 1-price is sky high, even for a high quality smoothie place 2-not enough greens & too much banana; I really couldn't taste much other than the banana . Tried Pure Cold Press for the first time last night. I had the Spicy quinoa wrap. It was pretty good- definitely tasted fresh. They served it with a side salad which was a nice touch, although no dressing so I didn't like it but my friend enjoyed it. She get to caprese sandwich and soup and also liked her dish. I did not try any juice because they are so expensive, I would have to come in for one or the other. The design is really cool- fresh growing grass in the center and lots of wood. It is very clean and a health atmosphere. The manager was very nice, you can tell he is really trying to sell his new restaurant and wants to connect with people. It is nice to see him caring so much, but is also a bit much when you just want to choose and item and relax. All in all it was very good- not great, but I am routing for them! read more

Was just back in Brookline for a visit, and discovered Cold Press had opened -- what a great place! The space is open, airy, and spotless. Everything is nicely laid out for seeing the choices, ordering, etc. Variety of places to sit, for groups or by yourself. I didn't have any of the juices, but there's a full range of options for many different categories of vegan and vegetarian options -- sandwiches and wraps, amazing entree salads, bagel & egg breakfast, etc, etc. All kosher, of course. My salad was great, had a taste of another sandwich, everything looks yummy. And the service was good too, everyone was so friendly. I thought this place only had crazily expensive juices, but then I heard that they also have good salads. So I tried it out. I got a salad that I created myself and a cup of tomato basil soup. The salad was by far the best I've had since I moved from the west coast to the Boston area a few years ago. The greens were fresh, the toppings were generous and delicious (especially the beets!), I liked the cilantro-lime dressing, and there was actually not too much dressing, yay. The soup, on the other hand, was kind of blah, definitely not salty enough. I tasted the lentil cauliflower soup as well, and it was tasty but far too salty. The customer service was weird. First, the woman helping me seemed to alternate between being nice and irritable. Also, either she forgot to or I didn't hear her tell me that the tofu was $1.50 extra, so I was surprised by the charge at the checkout. The man at the checkout (manager or owner?) offered to take it off, which I appreciate, but he was simultaneously rudely aggressive in how he talked to me ("Do you want me to take the charge off? Hey, eye contact! I'm talking to you!"). Why ruin a nice gesture? Anyway, I will still go back and hope for a nicer encounter, since the food is fresh, yummy, and much needed in Boston! read more

Searching mid-afternoon on Friday for someone to cater our grandson's bris on Monday morning, we passed Pure Cold Press and decided to walk in. We met Chaim, the owner, who sat down with us immediately, although he was closing down for shabbos. We told Chaim what we wanted and he promised he would make it happen. Monday morning, promise kept. Beautiful platters: superior quality lox, salads, fruit and cheeses. Extremely generous portions. Everything was ready on time and we could not have been happier. Rude. Patronizing. And I never even got the food. Was celebrating a post temple event with my sister and her kids but when we went to order (ever try and order with 5 people...it isn't always smooth) the server was impatient, dismissive and rude as we tried to decide what to get. He mocked us. Complained we were taking too much time. Rolled his eyes. After asking who the owner manager was, he lied and said he didn't know. I said "really?" "Okay, it's me." The price range for this place is not moderate. It should be categorized under expensive, if not very expensive. My husband and I were so excited to see a juice bar as we are from California where there are tons, and definitely lacking here in Boston. So we went in to try a juice. First they were all pre-made and prices were not listed anywhere or marked on the bottles. So we got the register with our two bottles of juice and it rang up to $21.50! There is nothing better than being able to taste every ingredient in both your Food and Juice - and they are on point with both. As a vegetarian for over 5 years, to have Pure Cold Press come to Coolidge Corner is a dream come true. Finally! I don't like buying salads anywhere as I can make salads myself because they are so simple...but at Pure Cold Press it's a whole other story... The salads are absolutely delicious!!! There are so many different varieties to choose from; sweet, spicy, etc. just so many options for SALADS! I can see where people are upset as it's a little pricy but for me it's worth it. It's not just lettuce with a little cherry tomato and a slice of cucumber; it's so much more! There is a vast variety of ingredients and more work put into making it, delicious, organic and healthy! Second time at Cold Press and I can tell how they improved! Cold Press has two months opened and I think they're doing great! I tried today a smoothie called "Date Night" was DELISH! Also I had a buffalo tofu over a bed of lettuce, pickled onions, and egg. The southwestern bean wrap was to die for! The place has a terrific location in the heart of Coolidge Corner, and it has a very good vibe! Definitely is going to be my new spot for healthy food. Keep doing great folks!! read more

We thought we were in luck because we ordered our juices just before a big group came in. Wrong. The employees made all of the orders of the people behind us - including food that needed quite a bit of cooking and preparation - before even beginning to make our juices. When we finally received them we were both extremely disappointed. You would think a "green machine" juice would have some greens in it, but there weren't even enough to make the color of the juice green. I'm never coming back. read more

$10.50 for a small bottle of juice...for real? I gasped out loud when the cheery hipster at the cash register told me the price as if I was getting a huge bargain. The management needs to seriously reconsider their pricing as I will never return with the cost to value now. In addition, I witnessed the manager/boss yelling at the staff in full view of all the customers, something that is at worst a sign the place Isn't ready to be opened yet and at best terrible customer service and a poor environment.
