I came here on a Monday to grab some iced coffee and get some work done. The shop is spacious with a ton of seating, and it was quiet and easy to work at. My only small gripe was that I didn't see many power outlets. My cold brew was smooth and mild, and I enjoyed it! Excited to try a sandwich the next time I visit. A personal favorite of mine, everything I've tried on the menu whether for breakfast or lunch is great. Breakfast burrito and breakfast bahn mi (get it on a French roll over the bagel) are both top notch. As for lunch, the Asian fried chicken sandwich, the steak and cheese, the traditional bahn mi (I get mine with chicken and a fried egg on top), the chili chicken burrito, and the cubano are all great choices. The soups are always homemade and excellent too. Homemade smoothies and desserts round out the menu. I always get the banh mi, which is soo good. It's not authentic by any means, but it still tastes really good. I've been coming here for a few years now and they always decide to close randomly on random days or close early and they don't update the hours online when they decide to do that, just a sign on the door. Came here right at 8:00 a.m. on a Monday morning right when they open. the lady who greeted me said hi but she did not look particularly too happy It is a pretty lively and colorful cafe. Got loud music playing. it did take a while to make the banh mi. I assume it is fresh. Looks like they were setting up as well. I grew up during an era where banh mi cost 2 to $3 before it got super popular. These days they can run anywhere from $6-8 depending on where you buy it. It costs $11 here, but not too surprised by it based on the location. Saw good reviews on Google and yelp. So figure out give it a shot since I'm in the area For a cafe , they did you have a sign saying no Wi-Fi which is odd and a loss opportunity After you order you can self serve yourself with some water on the side. Banh mi itself is small for the price. Bread was nicely toasted which I do like. It was cut and presented nicely. Pork does not have a lot flavor. Too much pickled veggies for my liking. Has jalapeno pepper instead of the Thai pepper which has more heat. It is also missing patte and the secret sauce that makes an authentic banh mi a banh mi. So, I'd say the wait time is tough on a lunch time schedule. Food: I ordered the ban Thai sandwich, which was a bit spicy and too crisp. For the time that we waited, it was maybe not the best sandwich for lunch on a Friday. I would say the pork tasted fresh, but the bread tasted too stiff. Stopped in Dash cafe for lunch with a couple of co-workers on a Thursday. It wasn't very busy with eat in customers, but their phone was ringing off the hook with take out orders. I made my own sandwich... they were out of tuna (that was my first choice) turkey with cheddar and chipotle aioli. Grilled to perfection and the chipotle aioli was delicious! Dash is definitely a solid lunch choice and a great place for a casual dinner. It's located a little bit out of Brighton Center, so I often forget to visit because it's not right there. They only have a couple of tables inside, so I do like coming here for dinner over lunch. The absolute must order is the Asian Fried Chicken Sandwich. The sesame panko has a great crunch to it, and it's the perfect textures of crunchy. It's also super reasonably priced at $9.50. I've ordered other items, but I always go back to this with a side of garlic fries. Oh boy, the garlic fries. I'm still waiting for garlic fries to become a regular side dish but until then, these are great. The pork banh mi is also quite flavorful and better than expected. The Asian salad is also good as well as the grilled beef. The salads aren't huge/filling, but the flavors are delicious. Dash would be perfect is prices were $1-$2 lower, but overall I enjoy it when I have it. Definitely go for the Asian fried chicken and he garlic fries. A hand-made sandwich I ordered a Caesar's Palace sandwich and then waited for about 20 minutes. What was taking so long? I found out when the sandwich arrived. The chicken was just cooked, and the bacon was warm and crispy. A green piece of Romaine lettuce and a bright, red tomato peaked out of the pile. The advertised avocado was clearly included. All of these ingredients were topped with lightly toasted The Iggy's bread. You order at the counter and pick up at another counter on the left - although I suspect that they deliver if you take one of the few tables out back on the patio. Leesha Z.'s description of the vegetable panini $8.25 (grilled zucchini and eggplant, roasted red peppers, grilled red onions, fresh mozzarella, basil pesto, served on a rosemary focaccia) enticed me to try this healthy option. Not that it took all that much - the "big hunks of delicious mozzarella" had my name on it, and I have a thing for yummy vegetables. It arrived sliced in two fat halves filled with significant portions of each ingredient in a bun that had the heft to hold it all in, on a plate with a pickle and a tiny portion of tortellini salad - so small as to almost be an after thought, although it was well dressed with a decent ratio of crisp diced veggies. To go with it, we ordered the Dash Scramble $8.50 (scrambled eggs, swiss, tomatoes, leeks, mushrooms, home fries, choice of bacon or sausage, choice of toast - white, wheat, rye), which was tasty as well, though I personally preferred the panini. The toast was highly buttered - bad for the arteries but yum for the taste buds. The potatoes were the soft tender sort. They also offer fries $2.50, garlic fries $2.95, and sweet potato fries $3.25, served in a good sized bowl. Something to think about! A customer offered me a taste when I commented on it as he picked up his order by my table - the sweet potato fry was the crispy on the outside sort! Next time... They have a recycle bin and you bust your own table. I only wish they'd make the window to their unisex single bathroom more opaque; it is a bit unnerving to realize if someone looked in just the right direction from the patio that they might catch you at an inopportune moment. *** 11/2013 visit *** Came back for the sweet potato fries $3.25. A goodly portion of thin cut fries - a bit like planks, which were crisp on the inside and yet still soft and meaty within and full of good natural sweet potato flavor. Service was place your order and pay at the counter, and they called your name for pick up on the side. When things toned down, however, the cook staff started serving the dishes as they were prepared. I've been dying to try this cafe after stunning upon some of their yelp reviews and was so excited to finally make a visit with a friend! I was surprised how packed they were on weekday during lunch time but that confirmed to us that the food here must be good. I can't really recommend this place. I stopped in for lunch and got a sandwich, drink and some fries which ran me $18. The banh mi i ordered *looked* good but had almost no flavor. No spicy mayo. No detectable jalapeño. Barely could taste the daikon. Perhaps old ingredients or ones that have been overwashed. What a hidden gem in the heart of Brighton! I am so glad I found this place. It's close to the bus 57's Elmo street stop. I got a small latte and a tea cake. In total it was around $6. Literally across the street from my current rotation, so I am going to be here all the days. So far I've tried: - Vietnamese Noodle Salad w/ Pork (Bun Cha): really delicious. The Nuoc Mam is pretty good, though I wish they put in some Vietnamese red chili for more authenticity XD but its mixed so good with all the component - quite addicting. - Banh Mi: why do they spell it Bahn mi? I'm so offended -_- But it's super tasty so I'm a little bit less offended. The bread isn't the same french baguette you get from regular banh mi place, but its pretty damn good bread. Soaks up the juices of the meat deliciously. Feel heartier and a bigger bite than typical banh mi. - Mango ice tea: refreshing. love it. Also free wifi so when you're eating by yourself you don't look as lonely. Lots of takeout happening around lunch hours so there is a slight wait but they try to make the food pretty fast. Currently working down the street from Dash Cafe and this has been my go to place for lunch! This cafe is unique and delicious. There are salads, sandwiches, wraps, coffee, pastries and breakfast items. Everything is super fresh and made to order. I had the herb grilled chicken sandwich. It is sandwiched in a delicious, buttery, fluffy, rosemary torta roll. The chicken is well seasoned, juicy, tender and grilled to perfection. It also comes with grilled veggies, mixed greens and tomatoes. This makes me feel like I am eating healthy and getting my daily veggies in! They take phone in orders and they are quick with their orders. This is a perfect place to eat in the Allston/Brighton area! read more

After two spectacular visits (and many more to come, I'm sure, as I start my job at St. Elizabeth's), Dash is quickly becoming one of my favorite sandwich spots in the Boston area. So far I've tried the Asian fried chicken sandwich--which could have probably used a softer bread (unless my brioche was overcooked?) to balance out the crunchiness of the chicken and the slaw--and the veggie panini--which is simply unimprovable. Both sandwiches come with a pickle and a side scoop of pasta or potato salad and are notable for their generous size and bold, fresh ingredients. For less than $10, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better, more satisfying lunch anywhere. As if the incredible food (which runs the gamut from soup, salad, and sandwiches to burritos and breakfast--you best believe I'm going to make it my mission to try it all) wasn't enough, service at Dash, while at times a little slow (good food takes time to prepare, regardless of the name of the restaurant), is warm and welcoming. It's clear the people working at Dash care about their customers and providing them with the best experience possible. I walked in and there were tons of workers. Just one person eating inside at 945am on Saturday. They had a massive menu with a variety of foods but the brunch was what I was looking for. I wish I took a picture of the menu. Seems like they change it each week. I ended up with the Eggs Benedict with bacon. It was not anything like a traditional Eggs Benedict. It was topped with two poached eggs, bacon, tomatoes, avocado and some bread (English muffin like) but with jalapeños! What a surprise! It was good but I didn't love it.
