This is what a salon visit should be. The front desk staff is so nice and welcoming; they're always smiling and greeting clients as they walk in, and it's amazing how quickly they learn your name. They always offer beverages ("Would you like lemon in your water?") The nail staff is amazing - charming and fun and easy to talk with, and so, so good. My nails always look beautiful (toes and fingers) and I have such a lovely time. Melissa, Carly, and Elizabeth, especially. It's a wonderful experience. Heated neck wraps are immediately offered, they always check with you on water temperature for pedicure tubs (which also have lovely soothing lights that change color). The massage chairs are almost as good as an actual masseuse (although for a real massage...oh, yes, this is the place!) They have both OPI and essi, and always the latest colors. I am so excited to show off my new color and cut! I reserved a time with Heather, a spunky, well-rounded artist who lacks nothing in friendliness and customer service skills. The interior has recently been redone and the dark sage colors and living plant wall give a true spa ambiance. Some formulas for products have been rewritten and additions have been added in the shop. What I asked for was a full balayage and shaggy layers with light bangs (I came with photos for reference and she combined them perfectly). I will absolutely stick with this salon! read more

Please note, I have never received a salon service at Valenti. This review is based purely on my experience making a retail purchase here. I'm not cheating on my styling goddess, Tina Marie (however after reading several review for Valenti, maybe I will check them out for eyebrows since I am crying for a good eyebrow job but too terrified of getting them all wacky and Chola-looking. True story). I ran into Valenti real quick last Saturday afternoon to look over and purchase some samples of Aveda products. Real talk, Aveda is EXPENSIVE stuff, however as I've gotten older (and maybe more hormonal with age?!), I feel like drugstore brands and even higher-end products at Ulta just don't work well on my hair (first world problems). I've had success with several Aveda products that I bought at Kenwood and wanted to dabble in a few more sample sizes before making an investment. Last Saturday was NOT a day for me to go on a jaunt to Kenwood mall, where I feel like you need to be in full makeup and an OOTD. I was recovering from post-holiday stress, work stress, the kiddo and myself getting over a 24-hour bug, bed head - and my bag-lady sweats were COATED in an inch-thick layer of cat fur (did I mention my two cats have been sick and I've basically lived at the vet's office since NYE?!). I looked and felt absolutely disgusting (seriously, cat hair was floating off of me since we had just left the vet's office AGAIN), and I was running on sheer nerves, caffeine and exhaustion. The impeccably coiffed, smiling, perfectly made-up Valenti ladies in their spotless black outfits (damn you, cat fur) were SOOOOO SWEET. The store was busy but two ladies warmly greeted me, took time to listen to my needs, carefully assessed and helped me pick out several items, made helpful suggestions, did NOT try to over-sell me, and didn't rush me out the door at all. The one sweet stylist, (bless her), asked to touch my frizzy ends so that she could determine the texture. This after I warned her that I was covered in cat hair and discussed my dandruff concerns. She didn't even flinch. What a living doll. And when I checked out the sweet young counter girl took time to call several Aveda locations to track down my membership # (durrrrr didn't have it on me) so that I could get credit for my purchases. Seriously, all three ladies at this salon were pure class, they treated me at my raggediest self with flawless customer service. read more

I do marketing for a company that owns a few Aveda salons in Columbus and 3 Aveda Institutes throughout the country. For the last two years I have been going to a stylist at our salon in Columbus and have always gotten great haircuts. The only problem is... when I don't get to Columbus for a while I end up looking really shaggy. So, this past week I decided that I needed to find somewhere in Cincinnati to get my hair cut as well. Obviously as an Aveda employee I wanted to find an Aveda salon close to home and Valenti was the first place I thought of. When I arrived I was offered tea or water while I waited for my stylist, Victoria. I then had a quick consultation with Victoria about what I wanted my hair to look like and showed her a few pictures on my phone. I must admit though, I had my reservations about going to a suburban salon who's clientele not usually getting haircuts that are particularly edgy or trendy. However, Victoria was very quick to understand what I wanted and seemed really excited about the haircut I had chosen. When it was all said and done, I had exactly the haircut I wanted and will definitely be back. The staff and Victoria are top notch. They totally blew away my perceptions of Valenti being a salon that only does haircuts like my mom's (not that that's a bad thing, I love ya' mom!). So, men, you don't have to resort to a haircut that consists of "what number clipper d'ya want?" Spend a little extra dosh and you'll look much better for it! read more

Called on a whim (as a new customer) to see if I could get a haircut.... they were able to take me within the hour! Upon entrance, I was warmly greeted and asked if I'd like a drink. The receptionists were extremely personable and friendly. LeeAnn cut my hair, and I really liked her. She took time to ask about my hair preferences, and she cut it beautifully. She even went above and beyond and styled it with flat iron waves.... something my old salon never did. She was very enjoyable to talk with, and I'll for sure go back to her. I recently called here to make arrangements for them to do hair and makeup for myself and my wedding party. I was given a list of pricing, but it boiled down to one price for both hair and makeup. When I explained that some of my bridesmaids might not need both (one has no need for hairstyle since she has recently had chemo and is bald), I was told they would have to pay for both or have neither. Some of my bridesmaids balked at the price and dropped out, opting to do their own hair and makeup but I still had a few who wanted to go to the salon, so I called back to make an appointment. And called. And called. I left multiple voicemails with the wedding coordinator explaining exactly what I needed and for how many people, but was never able to speak to her directly I order to make the appointments. With my wedding date rapidly approaching, I called again and begged to talk to ANYONE. The women who I spoke with told me that space was filling up and there was no room for all of my bridesmaids to get their hair and makeup done at the same time. I expressed dismay at this because part of the ritual of wedding morning festivities and I didn't want my bridal party to have to spend all day at the salon waiting as spaced-out services took up all our time. Despite this, I still scheduled appointments. Coming down to the wire, I was then told that they insist I get a practice run beforehand. At this point there was a week until the wedding and I had very little time to spare. They would not speak to me about the wedding day appointments and left messages threatening to cancel my entire booked appointment if I did not attend the practice run. I told them to call the whole thing off. They made planning such an exciting event into a giant nightmare. I was able to find a salon that had better pricing and could book us all at once. I recently got my hair cut and colored at the Anderson location. My haircut was very uneven, and the color (highlights) is barley noticeable. I was super disappointed, given that I chose a higher up, more expensive stylist, thinking she would be more experienced and provide better service. Let me tell you a secret--I am not a natural red head. And all the wishing hasn't changed my ashy blonde/brown. As a wannabe ginger, I usually have to have it done a little more often than some other colors. But until now I have never really stayed loyal to a salon or a shade. I would just bop around from salon to salon with only two criteria: that they could get me in when I needed and they used cruelty free products. As a newish Anderson resident driving down Beechmont a few months ago I remembered that ash blonde roots and coppery red hair wasn't my best look. I wasn't disappointed. The salon itself is trendy, inviting and has that Aveda smell that I love. They always offer refreshments including that delicious Aveda tea. All of the windows let in a ton of natural light which is nice. I initially thought that moving from station to station would be a bother, but it's not at all. The color bar gives you a chance to talk to people around you or do your own thing. Both stylists I have been with picked up on the fact that I am not good at small talk and let me sit and people watch. Nothing will ruin a salon visit for me like forced small talk, I am just bad at it. My first visit was with Tara Miracle and she helped me find the shade I am now. I've been Auburn to orange to barely red trying to find a nice bright shade that was also natural. I know, oxymoronic. But I feel like she really listened to what I was saying even though I wasn't saying it so eloquently. Since Tara I have gotten a lot of compliments on it and people who know I wasn't born with red hair, say I look like I was. This is the only time I have wanted the same color that I had before.. Even if I didn't know it at the time. I did try another salon between my first visit and the one I had today.. And of course I had regrets. But Kelly got me back on track! She was able to get me back to the color I loved with some lighter bits around my face. I also got a really fab hair cut. The price is comparable to other salons of this caliber but I have never had that "is it worth it" thought pop into my head. So long story short: I'll be back read more

I have found the route 32 mariemont location to be much better than the beechmont location. The stylists I've tried in mariemont just seem to be more skilled and I've left happy. My last appointment at the beechmont location was a nightmare. My stylist left hair hanging on my ears when I wanted it shaved above ear. There were areas that weren't blended in correctly on the sides and she didn't even shave up my neckline when I asked for it. Very dissapointed for paying for a master stylist. Sloppy job. She seemed to not be interested in how I wanted it. I went to another place to have it fixed. I won't name names but if I go to valenti again, it will be mariemont location. I always look forward to getting my hair cut here!! I am asked what I'd like to drink when I walk in the door and am treated to a mini facial and hand massage. My girl Kiele is so sweet. She does a fabulous job and is so much fun to talk to. Everything used on my hair always smells so yummy and I leave feeling healthy and ~glowing~. I usually spend around $40-$50 which is cool with me because I get my hair cut every 3 months or so and it is truly a "treat yo self" experience. :-) read more

I loved this salon and referred it to everyone I knew. Ashley Terry gave me the worst haircut of my adult life. After seeing and trusting her for years. She was always amazing until personal feelings set in. I kept trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. However, that was me being a good person and apparently naive. I tried to complain to management and they supported her, saying "Why would she do that?, That's her reputation". They would not even give me the opportunity to show them the hack job of a haircut she gave me. Even after several serious attempts. I had come to find out Ashley had tried to quit, which makes it clear she does not care about her reputation with Valenti. Furthermore, I thought she was a wonderful person and a true friend. Due to personal feelings of her own with a relative, I now know the hack job was deliberate and how she and Valenti truly operate. read more

I love my stylist Tara Miracle! This salon is very nice. They offer you something to drink when you check in and give you a mini facial when you get your haircut (the Aveda products make this a great smelling and relaxing treat). The atmosphere is that of an upscale salon but I think they've kept there prices reasonable. The staff is very friendly and always understanding when I seem to have to reschedule my appointment 20 times. But the best part about going there is my stylist. Tara listens to what I want but will also suggest things when I solicit her advice. Her haircuts are perfect and I hope I never have to move to another stylist. I've been with her for several years and that's how I want it to stay, haha. I recommend her to all my friends, it's their loss if they don't follow my advice, lol. read more

I've gone to Valenti for around 11 years now (from around age 10 to 21 now). They're always wonderful there, and I've never once gotten bad service, even when I am not able to be booked with my preferred stylist. I've never left unhappy. I visited this salon for the first time yesterday. I requested overall color to correct a bad highlight. I asked the stylist to show me swatches so I could choose a shade that would compliment my skin tone. She told me she thought it would look better if I did another highlight along with a Toner. I told her I had issues with highlights because the lowlights were always too heavy. She again stated that she thought it would look better with partial highlights and a Toner. I made the assumption this would be affordable and gave the okay. On the salon's website this stylist shows a charge of $99 for a partial highlight. Adding a Toner should not have added much to the charge. When I went up to pay I was told the total was $225! I almost passed out. This is outright robbery for the service I had. There is no way I should have been charged anywhere near that amount. Seriously all I had was a Partial Highlight and Toner applied when my hair was washed. I will NEVER go back to a place that overcharged so much! Stay away from these people! I cannot believe they ripped off a senior citizen like this. Horrible people! read more

I have been here a few times after getting my hair colored at another salon that used very harsh products. I was looking for an Aveda salon that used mostly natural Aveda products. I was so extremely dissapointed to learn that the hair color product this salon uses is NOT Aveda and not natural. I felt like I had been lied to, apparently this is an Aveda Concept salon, because they don't use Aveda coloring. This was the primary reason I went, and unfortunately will not be back unless they decide to be honest with their customers. Their sign on the front and marketing materials do not indicate a concept salon. Horribly dissapointed in this place. Service and friendliness of staff are mediocre. read more

I have been going here since I was 18. However I no longer get my hair colored here because I never get what I'd like despite physical pictures of what I want and eloquent details. And to top it off it always has to be redone every single time. I just have given up with them as far as color service goes. Haircuts are always good - I switch girls so I can't really recommend a specific person. I always go to Adrienne for my eyebrows though! She's the best! read more
