My guy George gives the finest cut around, I've had a lot of bad cuts or even some that I need a week to grow until it looks good, but I'm shocked when I leave George's with a cut that's ready to go right away. I feel like some barbers sort of miss what a persons vibe or style is and just do what is on paper but I feel like George listens and understands what a good cut on someone looks like and has the vision. From the moment I walked in (without an appointment, no less), I felt a down-home, unpretentious beachy vibe. Reggae was cranked up and the ocean breeze was flowing through the top of the open Dutch door. My son (who turned 13 the day before) desperately needed a haircut and I was a bit nervous at first to bring him to an unfamiliar barber shop, where they may have just busted out the clippers and shorn the kid. Not only did George fit us in, he did a masterful, legit haircut in 15-20 minutes. My newly-teenaged son stood up & was actually Fighting a smile! He could not Help smiling because his hair looked exactly how he wanted it to--not too short, and no longer too long. Businesses should be Easy to do business with. With George's Barber Shop, everything about it was easy: parking, being able to walk in, price was right, the beach cottage vibe was relaxed. I can't imagine taking my son anywhere else. For real. Took my son here for the first time today for his very first hair cut at 4 years old. We were very disappointed as I showed 2 reference photos to the guy and he acted confident as he could do it. He immediately cut too much off the front (top) and left my son's hair looking completely botched. I requested someone else to fix it. George attempted to fix it, He made it some what decent but still looked botched and incomplete after leaving. I was in tears so distraught over what a horrible experience we had we were still made to pay $26 for the kids hair cut. overall I was hurt by the lack of empathy and how they ruined my babies first hair cut. completely dissatisfied. We have family photos tomorrow and now scrambling on how I can fix his hair and it's extremely stressful. The lack of empathy for their mistakes in their work was shocking. Over all I'm so sad to say, I don't recommend this place. read more

I have been going to George for many, many years. Simply put, the best barber I have been to so I would highly recommend him to all!!

I hope George reads this because I like his establishment. I've been to George's for about 10 haircuts or so. The first few were great and I decided to be a regular, however the quality control on weekdays has gone downhill in my opinion. Tony and his female coworker are the regulars on staff during the afternoons and are friendly and enjoyable while in the chair, however for whatever reason, they don't seem to be paying much attention to the job at hand. I've come away with uneven sideburns, specifics not followed, and the latest mistake: my fade was the correct length on one side of my head, and double the length on the other side. Another time, the Irish employee gave me a neck shave without asking, quite an underhanded way of adding an extra 5 dollars to my bill. Until the issue of quality-control is addressed, I can't justify repeatedly paying 20 dollars for absent-minded haircuts. Hopefully George can fix these issues and I can once again start going here regularly, because i would like to. read more

Worst haircut EVER. Asked for a 2 on top, tapper the sides and back. This lady (with the shakes) proceeds to cut the top with a 2, and then starts to give me a fade. She left me hairs longer than a 2 on top. She also left me a line where her so called fade is supposed to be. I am going to have to cut my head with a zero and have it grow out again. George's Barber shop is the best in LA! The owner and namesake, George Barreto, is an awesome barber/stylist whose talent is only surpassed by his charm and the care he gives to his customers. I've spent over $100 for a hair cut at the high end Beverly Hills salons, and for a cool $20 bill at George's I get a better hair cut and it's a lot more fun. While this might look like a traditional barber shop from the outside, on the inside you will find free WiFi, plasma screen TV's with videos playing, a cool beach vibe with surf inspired decor, three hair cutting stations, and a really friendly and clean environment that is great for guys and the whole family. I recommend making a reservation with George himself, although the other two barbers are great as well, and allow half an hour as George takes his time to make sure you look perfect and get exactly the cut you want. Saturdays get packed and there are no reservations, so the best time I've found to sit with George is in the mornings during the week. George takes cash and credit/debit cards. A traditional cut is only $20 and George offers discounts for the military, seniors, and kids under 15. Once you try George you won't want to go anywhere else again for a hair cut! read more

My family has been going to George over 7 years .He's the Best ,He really knows his business and customers. He is a master with the straight razor (a real art that is lost) and gives you the best haircut you ever had. I prefer barber shops. There's nothing more comfortable than settling into a place you like, relaxing and getting a haircut. I found George's about six months ago. I'm getting to know El Segundo and like the Main Street USA vibe. And, George's has a comfortable blend of beachiness and rock n roll. Good music always playing. I've been going to Tina the whole time. I've got difficult to cut hair and Tina does a good job of creating some order among the curls and grey bristle. I definitely would recommend Tina or George. George's barber shop is one of the best places around. George is friendly, professional and licensed. If you are a repeat customer like me he remembers what kind of cut you like. On my last haircut on Tuesday, April 20, he didn't have to ask me what I wanted. He cut my hair, shaved my neck, trimmed my eyebrows and it was just what I wanted. His shop is cool with a beach-surfing theme. You never have to wait long if you're a walk-in and you can make an appointment too.
