Hubs had the Crab Stuffed Grilled Cheese (great combination, so divine) and I had the Cheese Steak Sandwich with a side of Tomato Basil Soup, lots of flavor and yummy! We shared both. Bartender/Server was super friendly and chatty. Paid parking on the street or free behind the building. The service was excellent. The food was a hit or miss. I got the caprese salad with chicken and it was more on the salty side. My other half ordered the lemon pepper chicken wings and there wasn't much taste to them. There was a hard piece of plastic found in the poke nachos. This was our second visit here! We stopped in over the summer and only had drinks because we'd already eaten. But we knew we loved this place! We were in Spokane for parents weekend in October and saw this place had just opened. Not many reviews yet so we took a chance and we were so glad we did! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owners renovated a long time local watering home and kept many of the classic vibes while adding some unique (and some humorous) artwork and decorations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was warm and friendly making us feel very welcome - sone of the best service we've had this year across many cities. Brunch was fantastic! They have a nice selection of pancakes, but you don't have to choose only one since they have flights! We got two different flights so we could try them all - Lemon with Huckleberries, Pumpkin, Churro, Matcha and regular. We also had some Fry Bread. The Mai tai and Espresso Martini are wonderful and they have Happy Hour specials. Dinner we had the Farmers market salad with seared tuna and the crabcakes and Caesar salad. First of all, when we came in they gave us water with cucumber in it. This would normally be fine, but I have an aversion to cucumber. I had to specifically ask for normal water. Then, they said they were out of some of the dishes we wanted to order, but they ended up having them. We waited a full 45 minutes for our food and no one apologized for the wait. They served our caesar salads without croutons and did not tell us they were out of croutons until we asked for them. Their wild chicken and rice soup was thick and a very wrong texture. It seemed like it had been recently defrosted. The presentation was less than impressive as well. For all that waiting time the food was not worth it. The only positive things were the workers. Went to this restaurant this evening for a friends bday. Our service was very slow but none of us were complaining. When our food did eventually come, my friend had to go up to the bartender to ask for napkins. A few minutes later, a woman left the establishment and cursed him out, then cursed the entire table out. When we were ready for checks, the bartender told the dude who asked for napkins that he was 86'ed, stating that he was "always an asshole" whenever he came to dine here, however he stated that this was his second time ever. When asking about why his behavior warranted an 86, the bartender said that he always ordered the burger, asked about the price of items, and was "always a jerk". I told the bartender that there was mother wrong with asking about the price of an item when it's not listed on the menu. The bartender then said that my friend was "clearly too drunk", however he had had a total of 2 drinks that evening, meanwhile this entire time the bartender's jaw was gliding back and forth, and his words were slurred, indicating that he was on some sort of stimulant. While he was berating my friend, I repeatedly asked for my check so that I could leave. The bartender continued on his tirade. I asked him what would happen if I just didn't pay and left. He told me that my bill was covered because I was 86'ed as well. I told him that I wasn't the type of person to walk out on a check, but he reassured me that my bill was spoken for. Meanwhile, a different friend of mine asked what would happen if she also walked out on her check. To this, he said he would call the cops on her. I decided to leave, as hey, who would say no to a free dinner and 2 cocktails? But I can safely say that I will never be returning to this establishment or their mid food. Bartender was wearing a "the elk" zip up hoodie, though I've never seen him working there. Completely inappropriate and defensive staff behavior, the outburst likely a result of him not doing a good job in the first place. read more
