The very first time I went to see maggie for face treatments was probably more than ten years ago and I haven't gone to anyone since then. I always say health is wealth but so is skin care!! I did say it's pricey but then again we do live in Hawaii. We only have one skin and if you can, we should always take care to the best of our ability. I have gone to Maggie for the last 10+ years of my life. I don't regret it at all. Everyone always ask how my skin looks so great or they compliment how young I look and honestly, I think I wouldn't be where I'm at today without the help of Maggie. You can't have great skin overnight, or heal a acne overnight. You have to give it time and be consistent with treatment. I thought Maggie was great ! My skin was super bad yall but she did her works and it was great. I have really bad discoloration and hormonal acne , I went to see her for about five to six facials every three weeks ! My skin cleared up and I just had to maintain it. Unfortunately I stopped going because it was a little pricey for me and I don't have a constant budget to get my face done all the time. I highly recommend Pure Skin by Maggie! My background: I have never had a facial before and have acne prone skin for the past 8 years. Maggie had so many great yelp reviews I decided to give her a try. My first appointment was just an initial consultation. I filled out a questionnaire and we went over all my answers line by line in detail. She took time to examine my face, learn about my skin journey, goals and timelines. It was really clear she cared a lot by her attentiveness and numerous questions she asked. She gave me a few options and told me the pros and cons of each path. I felt very happy and it was comforting to know she wasn't giving me just a generic facial but something that was customized to my skin's needs. I had my second appointment today which was a hydrafacial including extractions. I came out feeling amazing! I can't wait to see my results. My skin already looks a lot clearer and healthier. She is the Best Skin Dr in this island!! I had been looking for a skin dr that i am able to trust. When i went to her homepage i literally felt i want to see her. Her office is very clean and relaxing space like a private room that nobody will bothers you. Also, the end of the treatment i droped my mask on the floor, Then she gave me brand new mask for me and say "It's dirty, so you better use clean mask." I found Maggie through Yelp, and after reading a bunch of great reviews decided to message her. I had a couple questions concerning extractions, because even though I have dry skin, I have a ton of white heads. Weird, I know! Maggie was professional, knowledgeable, respectful of my budget, and most importantly able to squeeze me in super last minute! I have relatively sensitive skin and a very low pain threshold, and Maggie kept all of these in consideration during the facial. She was such a good sport every time I cringed when I thought she was taking out the needle for extraction. Maggie was gentle throughout, and hygienic with her tools. I love going to Pure Skin By Maggie. As soon as I walk in the door I feel so pampered. I love the ambiance & that it allows me to feel totally relaxed! I've done a series of 6 hydrafacials and have noticed HUGE differences in my skins texture and appearance of fine lines. Maggie did 'before and after pictures' and I could actually see the visible changes in spots on my face that have been bothering me for years! My Husband was the one who treated me (who always treats me) to these nice facials and I'm happy he chose Maggie! The place was kind of hard to find at first, because her place is located inside a building shared with other businesses! My husband was the one who called for appointments etc. Maggie just laughed at why he chose the facial for me (It's because he pays for it, I don't mind..he made a good choice :) Before you come in, it's best to call for an appointment, her shop is very small, the aroma makes you feel relaxed and ready to go and very very welcoming. You also need to call Maggie when you get there for the code of the elevator, because she's on the 4th floor, and NO there is no stairs to reach her unless you want to use the 'Fire exit' which really, you can't use. Also, if you try to use the stairs, it only takes you to the 2nd floor. LOL We were already running late, but Maggie was very nice to us. Maggie, was very friendly, and most of all informative. She's honest, and takes a good look on your skin, and tells you what you should and should not do to your skin. Her hospitality was even more great, serving fresh hot green tea, and you wear THEE most comfortable slippers to change into. Her decor of her place was so beautiful, simple and elegant. My husband chose the Detox Facial ($80 each), which is a deep cleanse, and was great for our acne, white and black heads. I felt awkward because I KNOW I fell asleep, and I don't know if I was snoring or not, but I woke up fast because I know I did. Maggie giggled and said it was better for me to sleep anyway, that was the purpose. Relaxation was on point! l tell you! Her massage on my face reminded me of the movie Shaolin Soccer, if you haven't watched that movie, and haven't had her facial massage, then you're missing out, because it was awesome! :) The massage for my neck, and face, and shoulders were just amazing, I wish I could have her magic hands every night before I go to sleep! The facial also smelled really great, smelled so yummy, everything was organic! I felt so embarrassed again because a lot of times, I fell asleep and she was trying to talk to me (oops, I can't help it, it was really relaxing and I was exhausted) and I had a lot of white heads on my forehead, and she showed it to me. I have a lot of acne scars, but after having the detox facial, my skin looked lighter, tighter, and most of all CLEAN! After everything, she gave me a refill on green tea and this delicious strawberry wafer cookie! I've been needing to get a facial for so long, but I've always been putting it off because I was so busy. The day I decide to leave work half-day spontaneously was perfect for "ME" time... Well, at least before I pick up the kids from school. I found Maggie on Yelp. She was one of the first spas that showed up when I typed "facials". I went down the list and starting reading reviews for all the different spas. I narrowed my choices and decided to call to see if anyone could take me that day. the first two I called couldn't take me - they were closed or booked. So I called Pure Skin. I ended up getting a voicemail so hung up. To my luck, I got a ring back within two minutes and was able to book my facial appointment within two hours. Went to my appointment and I expected to enter a lobby or waiting area, but as soon as I got there, it was the spa room. It's really small compared to the places I've been to. It's a one-man shop. She's very good. She was very careful around my eyes due to my lash extensions. I felt really relaxed right after. She does try to up sell her products or other treatments that allow 6 visits but I didn't get any. Honestly I wouldn't go here unless I need a last minute facial. read more

I found Maggie through a search on yelp...Hydra facials!!! My visit far exceeded my expectations!! Her space is wonderful. He has a soothing waterfall. Chairs and table. The lighting is soft. She offers you some tea and help you change into spa slippers (thumbs up!) I choose Maggie as oppose to a Medi Spa because I wanted a personal experience. I got that (thumbs up) Didn't want to be another number. Plus it was affordable for my pocketbook. She is gracious and kind. I got the hydra facial with the red light therapy. A girl's gotta prep her face for the big day! I was saving up my gift card to Pure Skin to use it at just the right time, and a few months before my wedding was that time. Follow everyone's directions about where to park and how to get into the building. I showed up on the fourth floor of a single room office. The hall was dark, but the room had some peaceful music and calming water sounds I came in for a consultation with Maggie and she suggested I do the Vitamin C+E Whitening Facial. For 50 minutes I was able to relax and let Maggie do her magic! If that wasn't nice enough, after the procedure she rewarded me with a mochi and hot tea. I liked the results of the facial, though the procedure is pricey. I want to look and feel great for the wedding and Photoshop can only fix my face on the photographer's pictures. I'll be back for at least another treatment just before the wedding. For the perfect skin and a great glow, she suggests doing the signature rejuvenation facial. I'll just tack this on with all the other crazy wedding expenses...arggh! read more

I found Maggie's by accident, while looking on Yelp for massage therapists. I was impressed by her reviews and thought, "What the heck! I'll try a facial." I'm really happy I did because not only is my skin better for it (love that hydrofacial thingie!), but I get more relaxed from her facials than when I get a massage. I'm so thrilled that I have found Maggie! I'm very particular what goes on my skin because my skin is very sensitive and I tend to have breakouts easily. I've been seeing Maggie for my skin issues for about 8 months now and this review is long overdue. I was sick of my lackluster skin texture and turned to yelp, a trusted online grapevine, to find a cosmetician that could help. Upon our first meeting, Maggie took a deep look at my skin and found the obvious and not-so-obvious causes of my skin problems: 1. I was wearing MAC make-up which is a clear skin no no since it has oils and crap in it that wreak havoc on you skin 2. I was drinking a ton of coffee which sometimes cause bad skin (not in everyone just for some who have extremely sensitive skin like me) 3. (and most importantly) I was on a birth control that was messing me up hormonally. I've since gotten half a dozen hydrofacials and one Green Peel classic facial and have significantly improved my complexion. Extractions, glycolic peels, and herbal peels are not for the weak; it goes with the old adage, "beauty is pain." The one thing that keeps me coming back to Maggie is the fact that she herself has amazing skin. She is an example of her product. Maggie loves to share her journey as to how she came to this stage of skin perfection, mostly because it did not come easily or natural. She worked at it as most people have to. It's a life long commitment and it really boils down to how important having beautiful skin is to any individual. So far I've gotten my 2nd facial from Maggie, and all I have to say is that she truly knows her stuff. She makes it clear that facials and treatments alone won't work but with a little TLC and taking care of your skin from the "inside-out" is where you truly begin to see changes. My skin is nowhere near perfect yet, but I am seeing slight improvements along the way and Maggie is the first facialist I've seen that's given me hope with her testimony and knowledge. Maggie is very sweet but I would not get a facial from her again. I went there for one thing and was pressured to get something that was four times the price during the consultation. However, I stuck to my plan and kind of felt like she wasnt interested in my skin at that point. I felt rushed and my skin wasnt cleaned out as I thought it would be. I absolutely love this lady and all that she does. She is amazingly knowledgeable and so honest about your skin and what you need to improve it, in the most caring way. The first time I went to her, I had a bikini wax. It was my first ever and I was so Scared- Maggie made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I can honestly say it didn't hurt, felt better than some eyebrow waxes I have had in the past. When I came to her the second time it was because of my skin. I have suffered with acne all of my life and used everything you can imagine. She immediately recognized me and asked how did the bikini wax go, since my skin is so sensitive. Located on the 4th floor of building is located in the Ward area (corner of Kamake`e & Queen St.), don't forget that you need a security code to get up the elevator. The building is also home to Bamboo Sky and Phuket Thai. Upon entering her lovely little studio, Maggie greeted me by name and welcomed me in. The room is impeccably clean and carefully decorated. She said she designed it all herself, which shows her pride in her work. The ambiance is peaceful and calming, especially because the unit is located farthest from the elevator. Maggie is very personable and was very easy to talk story with. I have to also say that the tea she offers customers is bomb! Maggie always, always, always addressed me by my name and if she felt she was interrupting me from anything (i.e. looking through the brochure, or to get my attention to tell me what she was doing next) she said "excuse me" first. Her politeness really made an impact on my experience. Maggie went over everything she was doing, and informed me that she uses products with primarily botanical/natural ingredients. I expressed to her that I'm not a big fan of firm/deep massages, and as a result she was extremely gentle. During my facial, Maggie applied a mask that was custom made, because I asked her prior if I could combine the different types. She was also very honest with her analysis on my skin, and instructed me on what I should do to care for it. I cannot express enough how wonderful my facial was, as she made it suitable for my skin and needs. Maggie is such a sweetheart, and I highly recommend her. I was excited when I got there to get my facial, being that it was my first time. I scheduled my 50 minute complimentary facial/consultation + Chemical peel & Fruit peel. I paid my $20 deposit for my appointment and it showed me that I had a remainder of $80 to pay on the day of. When I got there, the ambience was really nice and I couldn't wait to start. The consultation wasn't what I expected it to be. It felt rushed & the recommended treatment was way out of my price range (up-sell). Maggie was really nice, and I really liked her but after my facial, I asked when I was going to start peeling and she said that I wasn't going to peel so I was a little thrown back because I thought that I was getting the chemical peel & fruit peel that I scheduled the appointment for. I know that chemical peel makes you peel or am I retarded to think that anything with the word peel in it, means that you are going to peel! LOL. In the end, I ended up paying $130.90 for a revitalizing peel. I don't have unrealistic expectations, I just like to pay for what I want. I wanted a chemical peel therefore I should have gotten what I wanted. After leaving I became disappointed. I was trying to feel grateful for my experience and I was trying to find the positive in my experience but I just couldn't without getting upset & frustrated.
