The only complaint is not the food...The food is fresh, fantastic...Great Fish Taco! Great Chicken enchilada! The drinks are good...try the white, cinnamon Horchata! So refreshing! But my tired hiney and aching back doesn't love the metal chairs. That is it. Everything else has been very good. And I can put up with the chairs to get some good food. Well what can I say about Purple Burrito. The orchata is always good, but the Menudo is a true disappointment, It takes like dirty water. Their tacos and tortas are ok but nothing out of the ordinary. The fish tacos are below average. You cant compare this restaurant to Taco Bell or any other fake fast food mexican restaurant because they are in a different category, but If you want to compare this restaurant to any local taqueria in South Texas is way below average. I think if they would change their menu a little bit and the gigantic tables they would gain more clientele. The reason why I gave them such a low rating is because I feel their food is very mediocre and their prices are inflated for simple Mexican food. read more

These tacos need 2 tortillas like other classic street tacos because the contents just tear right through the 1 tortilla. The al pastor and carne asada were OK, and the tamales were kind of lousy. Gross salsa. Definitely not real Mexican food. read more

I LOVE the food here! I cannot stress enough how difficult it is to find a good taco shop/mexican restaraunt if you are not in California! Love their food! I have only been a few times but loved everything I have had there so far. I love how their food doesn't have a lot of spice, but you can add spice to it if that is what you like. They have several salsa choices to choose from from mild to fire. I also love that they use fresh cilantro! I love cilantro. Would recommend to everyone! read more

This has been one of my favorite places to get a quick bite to eat since I moved to Springfield. The first time I walked in here the whole place was empty (It was 3pm on a Tuesday). The man at the the counter he said, "Hello Amigo" with a warm smile on his face he gave me the decorum and respect a perfect gentlemen would give.He didn't fall into that trap of idolizing a celebrity which made me feel normal again, it made me feel warm... The fish tacos are the best fish tacos you could get on this side of the continental divide, pretty authentic. Any choice on the breakfast burrito menu won't disappoint you. Tried this location for the first time today and it was really good! I had the shrimp burrito and it was so good, but I think next time I might ask them to go easy on the guacamole (and I'm a huge guac/avocado freak!) My fiance's veggie burrito was excellent. We opted for cold bottles of tamarind and grapefruit Jarritos which were great and the beverages and food were not too expensive. Now we both want to go back and try other items soon! Great little restaurant, and don't let the name fool you, they serve much more than burritos. I always get the tacos (pork), and they're fantastic. Don't forget to try the "miled" sauce! The restaurant space itself is very clean and open. read more

I moved here from Chicago where there is TONS of good Mexican food and I didn' have super high expectations for any place in Springfield, but I was wrong! Purple Burrito is great. I don't eat meat but I've tried the veggie burrito and various veggie treats, all great. I like the cheese quesadilla too, it comes with lettuce, sour cream and guacamole which is rare for places in Springfield, usually, it's just the tortilla with cheese - no extra dressings. I've been to the Burrito twice now, and I've liked it very much both times. The shredded beef is very tender and moist. It isn't spicy, but there are four or five sauces you can add. One member of my group says there's not enough cheese, but my stomach is pretty sure they don't use MSG. So that's a big plus for me. The only negative is that the kids meals are a tad pricey for what you get (I think.) You can fix that by splitting one between two kids or an adult meal between two. read more

I'm a fan of Purple Burrito! I've never had Mexican food during my travels in California so I'm not sure if it is true California style Mexican food, but I really enjoy it. I've only eaten at this location a few times, but everyone working there is really nice and they even remember me and my order when I come in. I haven't tried too much of their menu (I'm a creature of habit) but their taco salad is amazing and HUGE and they have a burrito with french fries in it that is delicious! I know it sounds weird, but trust me, it totally works. I do think that the prices are a bit high, but the portions are huge and the taste is well worth it. This is the only location I have tried in town, but I highly recommend Purple Burrito to anyone living on the South side! read more

Eh. Anyone that's eaten REAL Mexican food from SoCal would not say this place is legit. The meat is incredibly bland. In 24 years in CA, I never had a burrito that wasn't fajita style with cooked (stewed almost) peppers and onions. The rice was bland as well. The guacamole was probably Wholly Guacamole from the store. All that was good is that the tortilla seemed legit. Overall I'm very disappointed with the place that had such high reviews. read more
