Half of a Big Chief Burrito with carnitas and half of a chicken quesadilla.

This restaurant came highly recommended and I was dreaming of a burrito so we went less than 24 hours after being told about it. We ordered the Big Chief Burrito with carnitas and a chicken quesadilla. The big chief was lacking flavor and would benefit from some spice...the green salsa was good and helped combat the dryness. The chicken quesadilla was just as bland and also required a ton of sauce (it comes with sour cream and guacamole to dip which did help). I wanted to come back another time to give it a second chance but my stomach was in knots within an hour of eating it. I'll continue by burrito search elsewhere.

What a nice find in Springfield. A Mexican fast food in the style of a Southern California Taqueria. The place has a nice vibe and very clean. Nice spot for a good casual lunch. I had the fish tacos which were prepared very much like the ones you eat in California. My wife had the Machaca plate that I gladly finished because it was too much food for her. Overall I'm very impressed and would highly recommend.

I usually always have a good experience here but today was anything but that. I ordered the XL fries with carne asada and i found a long strand of hair in the fries which i thought was my hair at first until i kept pulling it and it was embedded into my fries. I was going to let that slide but i bit into my burrito (Big chief w/ chicken) and there was a small stick in it. I spent almost $100 today on all of this food and like i said before i usually have a good experience here so idk whats going on now. This was a pretty big let down.

My husband and I decided to eat here for the first time to try something different and it was overall just a terrible experience. There was only 1 cook and 1 cashier at peak lunch hour and we waited 10 minutes to order our food (we were the only ones ordering food at the time). We asked for chips and salsa the cashier never said that our burritos already came with chips and you pour your own salsa but they were out of 4 kinds of them. We waited another 10 minutes for our food and when it came it was super disappointing. The chips were mostly crumbles and the carne asada on our burritos tasted like pure fat with no flavor or seasonings...when I got to the end of one half of my burrito I found a huge 2 inch by 1 inch chunk of pure fat and I had to stop eating at that point. I really wanted to ask for my money back but we just decided to leave. We will never be going back here again. read more

Best authentic Mexican food in Springfield! Just like we used to cook back home in AZ. Cannot be beat by any others!!! Tex-mex restaurants and the local chain restaurants have NOTHING on this place. Best carne asada tacos/burritos. Pretty much the only real Mexican restaurant where you order a beef taco and actually GET shredded beef!! Ground beef only served elsewhere, what is that?! Real tacos have shredded meat! Best salsas around also! Huge menu!!!! Thank you Purple Burrito for bringing authentic food to this Midwest town! read more

My husband and I always go to the Purple Burrito on S. Campbell and Plainview Rd, the one by Kum and Go and we are always satisfied with our meal. We've tried the burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and the enchiladas. All of them were tasty (and large!) but our favorite is the beef enchiladas. The beef is like fall apart delicious and is mixed with peppers and onions before put into the tortilla. I would definitely recommend Purple Burrito for a quick and yummy lunch. read more

Edible but definitely not any where I'd recommend. We had street tacos and chicken fajitas. Tasteless. Chewy tortillas. The quesadilla is made with a cheddar cheese blend and our kids wouldn't take more than one bite. Salsa bar was meh. Highlight was that they had kids tv on. Floors were super slippery with grease so be careful! read more

Food is okay. Needs to be kept cleaner though. The area where the condiments are is pretty gross. Did notice all the canned food too! Also, if you watch them make the food sometimes they don't wear gloves! I've literally seen a lady dipping her finger in guacamole and smearing it on a tortilla to seal it up or sometime. Anyways, noticed the food inspectors have been on them in the past for neglecting gloves so you'd think they'd learn. read more

At here for an early lunch and was actually amazed. being this far from my home town of Las Vegas NV and having this good of SOCAL Mexican, it blew my mind. I had a fish taco, al pastor taco, and a carne asada plate. The food was astonishing. If I wasn't moving soon, this would be a regular place for me. next time I'm in town I'll have to come visit :) read more

thank god for the purple burrito! just moved back to town after spending two years in tucson enjoying some incredible mexican food. this is one of the closest things i can get to the mexican fast food i was enjoying there. have had several impressive things off the menu but a simple chicken taco from purple burrito amazes me every time! i always order too much food and have to bring some home. love the choices of delicious salsa. read more

Established in 2009.

The Purple Burrito was the vision of 4 people that came together from all across the country to bring Springfiled the joy and gift of California Style Mexican food. 4 different owners 4 different major City's like Las Vegas, New York City, Miami, and Little Rock where they all experienced there share of success but decided it was time to bring the family together and settle down. Eventually they all whent there separate ways and each one took their own locations, and have not looked back since. We are proud to be the first location in Springfiled and will continue to dilver the same great service and quality to all our loyal customers.

The fries were good crispy and hot with aioli soda products chosen were good nothing tasted over carbonated or flat. The bbq brisket sandwiche was beyond amazing and itself even re heated to eat later was a star if only I had taken one bite hot and fresh if was over the scale great 10 out of 10.

A perfect five stars! Woohoo and it really doesn't get any better than this. Not only is the food excellent and cheap, but they have a great selection of beers as well. I wish it was about 3 hours closer to home. Thank you Springfield Yelpers for directing us here. It's not a place you'd stumble upon naturally. In fact, if you're coming from the East as we were, it's about 9 miles out of the way. It's worth it. I had the Guisado Barbacoa dinner. This is described as shredded beef with pico de gallo and a "family recipe seasoning." Not so sure about the family recipe, but it was excellend barbacoa. We asked for some salsa mas picante and they brought a couple of variations, both were delicious. I so wish we lived closer. The food is not only good, but cheap. $1.75 for a tostada? Of course I don't know how big they are, but based on what we had, it would be delicious, I'm sure. If we're ever in Springfield, or within a half hour drive, we'll be back. read more

This is a semi decent mexican place (good for the area as Springfields ethnic foods are a joke)....Nice people, they got horchada and mexican coke (with REAL sugar).... Disappointed with my Carne Asada dinner being chopped into tiny pieces already, but not aweful like some mexican places out here....The fried flour tacos were pretty good...the corn tacos not as good (not greasy and crunch enough for me) Having said that, if this place was in a city that knew food (San Fran, Chicago, New York, etc.), it wouldn't last a month. read more

So thankful we FINALLY have an authentic California style Mexican restaurant!! No longer have to visit Cali to get your fill of fish tacos, fish burritos, shrimp burritos, etc.... I could eat here every day. Salsa bar is complete with lime:) Good breakfast too! The atmosphere isn't fancy, but that's one reason I like it. This place has the best tacos with homemade shells and the best flavored bean and cheese burritos in town. I'm not real thrilled with the atmosphere of eating in the restaurant. It's kind of of fast food meets trendy hillbilly. I recommend getting takeout. read more

The food was great, I suggest the steak tacos. It is a great experience. It does get full for lunch hours though. It has very fast service and u can be in and out within 30-45 minutes. I would definitely suggest this to a friend. read more
