We needed to fix some damage on the drywall of our house and our plumber recommended Purple Construction Company. I called for an estimate and the company manager reached out to me right away. She asked for photos and gave me a quote a few minutes later. A technician named Sam came out the next morning right on time. He took apart the damaged wall, made a thorough inspection for any leaks or mold, fixed it, and did a wonderful job. Some companies charge $100 to $150 just to come out and give you an estimate but the manager was able to provide a detailed written estimate right away, and she also gave me a discount. Also, I needed the work to be done as soon as possible and the manager offered to send someone on that same day but I was at work so he came the next morning. Sam, the technician, arrived early in the morning on time and he was very polite. He put on shoe covers and placed plastic covers around the work-area and got to work. After the work was done, he wiped and cleaned everything. I am extremely satisfied with the overall experience I had with the company from start to finish. Stay away! Completely regret using this company for our home remodel. They were challenging and argumentative throughout the process. What's worse, the quality of their work turned out to be poor and their post project follow-up/service none existent. We had lots of problems in the week and months after their work was complete-walls leaking, showers not sealed properly causing a roof leak, appliances leaking/not installed properly causing floor damage, sinks leaking causing wall damage. They had zero response or follow-up to our emails and calls. We have had to spend LOTS of money after they left to fix all of their faulty work. read more

WARNING!!!!! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!!. They are very unprofessional since they don't respect others' time. They said they would work on our house mon-fri 8:30am to around 4-5 pm. They say that they will be here and they don't show up. We had to call the management and he rarely answers. Whenever he answers he just tells us that they will come the next day. We were fixing our kitchen granite top, the kitchen sink and painted our kitchen cabinets. Also we asked to fix bathroom water pipe, sink and the dry wall. Since they were fixing the kitchen, we couldn't use our kitchen for some time, which I totally understand. However, what made me upset was them not showing up and prolonging the process without any excuses. Also some tiles were cracked even when we just got it done.. Also they were fixing our electricity line and since they only came to work on it on their own time only, I didn't have electricity on one side of the bedroom room wall for several days. I do not think that employees of this corp are the problem. I believe it's the management. Does not seem like they respect their customers' schedules at all. Please do not hire them. It was 2020 the year of Covid. They did extensive work in my condo. The work was done with high quality craftsmanship and materials. Our walk in shower was one of the best showers I have ever seen. Marble and porcelain tiles were used. It has a rainshower overhead shower head. And also a shower wand . There is a nice bench seat for older ladies that need to sit down while showering. Glass doors with chrome handles were put on as well. We had a lovely vanity installed with a cabinet also. Everything matched beautifully including the flooring which was a nice porcelin tile. And we needed a new medicine cabinet and towel bars installed to match everything else. Everyone that has come into my condo have remarked on how beautiful this remodel is. Yes they did work especially hard. Some days they had to do other jobs. I understood this. And since covid was going on it was a pain I think for everyone involved. David the project manager was very kind and friendly too. He personally saw to it that things were done right. Always showed up bright and early with his crew. A real pleasure and a big blessing to work with. I would definitely recommend this company Purple Construction to anyone looking to remodel. With much thanks and appreciation. One star is too good for them! Stay away from these guys! They use unskilled labor, cut corners to the point that their work isn't safe, they will lie to you repeatedly, they don't follow California codes, and will never take ownership for their below-standard construction. Whatever is wrong is someone else's fault. I went through five project managers in less than six months, with no explanation or advance notice of the changes. They will tell you that you don't need permits but don't believe them! Check for yourself with Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. They are currently dealing with a citation they received for code violations. In order to avoid dealing with me, they took down their website and changed their phone number. Fortunately my complaint with CSLB was already filed. These people are Chernobyl-level toxic!!! read more

We worked with Purple in remodeling our kitchen after having a water leak. Our plumber recommended Tip Top Restoration and they recommended that we work with their contractor side of the company which is Purple. Tip Top was great but we regret working with Purple. Their approach is to negotiate with your insurance to get you the most money out of your claim. If you decide to not work with them, they charge 20% of the claim. Looking back, we should've just paid the 20% instead of dealing with the stress of working with them. They negotiated with insurance on our behalf, which let them feel they were entitled to the insurance claim money, regardless of whether they did the actual work at a professional level. Knee deep into the project, my coworker warned me about them because she also worked with Purple when there was water damage in her condo. We experienced exactly what she warned me about and more. They don't do things right the first time and we had to ask to get them redone. That added on to the length of the project because they don't seem to communicate well with each other and don't seem to schedule jobs and subcontractors in an organized manner. Most days, you're left to wonder if someone's coming or not. The quality of their work is arguable. Multiple times the project manager told us that he wanted to do things fast and cheap. WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! Purple Construction uses UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES! Arad was our project manager, and he helped us get a chunk of money from our insurance company for bathroom water damage. As soon as we received our first insurance check, Arad/Purple presented us with a $3,000 contract for their services, a fraction of what the job would cost. Unfortunately, we trusted them and signed the contract. Purple put up a small amount of drywall (less than $300 worth of work) immediately after we signed the contract and did not do any more work. We had issues getting money from our insurance company, so we decided to hire a Public Claims Adjuster. When Arad learned about our PCA, he became livid (I can show you the texts/emails) because he assumed we were no longer going to work with him. He insisted that Purple would enforce a contract cancelation clause stating that Purple was entitled to 20% of any insurance settlement monies for the remainder of the job - WHETHER THEY DID ANY WORK OR NOT! And if we did not pay right away, we would be subject to delinquency fees and the possibility of collection agency involvement. (See Izza Bianca S.'s 2/20/2022 review for confirmation of the same issue.) There was no reason for Purple to rush us into signing a contract other than THEY WANTED TO LOCK US INTO USING THEM for the remainder of the project. We pushed back on the 20% cancelation fee by saying we would file a complaint with the California State Licensing Board (www.CSLB.ca.gov). Less than an hour later, Purple sent us a "zeroed-out invoice" and they apologized for the "misunderstanding" between Arad, Purple, and us, meaning we didn't have to pay the 20% cancellation fee. We reported Purple's contract and their belligerent behavior to the CSLB, but the CSLB could not do anything about the unethical contract clause. They did "ding" Purple for not having a 5-day contract cancellation clause for senior citizens in their contract. We will be contacting the Better Business Bureau about Purple and its unethical cancellation clause. In the meantime, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PURPLE CONSTRUCTION. read more

We have been calling and calling and they do not return our call. We had someone come and replace windows. They charged us $16,000. We complained about the sliding glass door screen. We couldn't close it properly but when we first complained they said that they way it works. Well after a few months of working it that way, 2 portions of the screen is damaged. We asked them to come out and give us another quote and during that time, another sales person came and said yes, definitely needs to be fixed. But when we didn't use them for the other windows, they just never return our call. I should have gone to the window ppl directly. I could have save easily 30% but that was my bad and I had to pay for that but $16K, you'd think they could fix the screen door, but no. We've been calling for months and its still not done. I was not happy with the work from Purple Construction. I did a reno in my bathroom, and was referred to Purple from Tip Top, due to a restoration project with my pipes. I did not feel the quality of work was great with my new bathroom. It was actually, a very poor job looking back. If I could give them zero stars I would Although they do have a licensed contractor, the contractor doesn't actually do any of the work himself and he barely supervises the projects. They don't have sub-contractors either. Instead, they hire unlicensed day laborers to do plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. They do shoddy work and use incorrect materials, leaving my house both ugly and unsafe. The first red flag was when they had to reinstall the tankless water heater three separate times over the course of two weeks before they got it right. The first time, they bought and installed an outdoor water heater inside the house. I asked them if it was safe and they ignored my concerns. They eventually realized their mistake and bought the correct heater, but still installed it improperly, leaving us without hot water. I actually had to fight with them before they were willing to call an experienced plumber. They did not turn off the gas before moving my dryer, causing a gas leak that started to make my family sick. They left a board leaning against a wall which fell and hit me on the head. They left another board hanging from the ceiling which we took down ourselves so we wouldn't get hurt. They were planning on installing new flooring over rotted plywood. I had to buy the new plywood myself. I had to demand they call a licensed electrician to re-do the outlets. It took two professional electricians a full 7 hours to fix the outlets their day laborers originally installed incorrectly. This company made my life a living nightmare for 5 months. I could fill an entire book with the incompetence I've witnessed, but I'll save you the trouble of reading it: Do not waste your time or money. Do not gamble with your health and safety.
