I had been here quite a few times before the change of ownership occurred in 2024 and the food was fine. Nothing crazy, but nothing that was so good I needed to come back. The difference in the food is noticeably better. We've been a few times in the past few months and it's been amazing. The ingredients taste fresh, the plating is elegant and, though the menu is still largely the same, the execution has been much improved upon in my opinion. Ben, our waiter, was a very personable young man who made extra sure our breakfast was well taken care of. The huge blueberry crispy pancakes are the best in town, by far, and the maple bacon is thick crispy, and not greasy. The restaurant was not crowded with no wait, sat outside on the covered patio at a comfortable table. It's in a strip mall across from Trader Joes, not easy to see from the road, but more than worth the inconvenient traffic pattern to gain entrance from S River Rd to the small mall with a Chinese restaurant and ice cream shop, etc. Ben told us it's under new ownership, and still great. Most of the time whenever my wife's coworkers try to recommend a place for us to eat, I'm rarely impressed with their choices. Not to slam their personal preferences or anything. It's just that their palates tend to be quite different from ours. For instance, we prefer all of our food to be seasoned. But, I digress. In this particular case, I was SO glad they recommended we try the Purple Finch Cafe for breakfast. In fact, I praised wifey's coworkers' recommendation several times as I was savoring my near perfectly cooked scrambler on this fine, sunny morning. And they say Northerners don't love flavor in their food. As if! But seriously folks, PFC is a stellar representation of Bedford refinement in dining and cuisine. The prices are what you'd expect (for the most part) and the service was sublime. There are two minor complaints I have, which I'll mention toward the end. But ultimately, wifey and I were very pleased with this one. One of the biggest things to catch my eye was the fact that this place not only serves omelets (typical), but also does scramblers (not-so typical). You'd be amazed how difficult it is to get your eggs done like this. But for those who don't know, a scrambler is exactly as it sounds. I prefer these to omelets because it's like....all the ingredients are fully blended in with the egg, so to speak. Whereas an omelet (no disrespect to any omelet lovers out there) is more like an egg coated burrito with the cheese, veg, and meats as innards. Almost like juxtaposed components, if you will. Along with the scrambler, I had homefries, a waffle, and bacon, of course. TL;DR - all of these items hit their mark. But then...we come to the two things I liked least about this visit. First of all, the portion of bacon was, I felt, a bit modest. Perhaps this was done intentionally because Bedforders are health conscience? I dunno. But...I love bacon. And I presume a "normal" portion is around 3 slices or so. Yeah, naw. They only gave me two. Now, to be fair, this bacon was cooked to perfection! I asked for crispy and got precisely that. So, the bacon itself was a 10 out of 10. I just wish I had more of it. Secondly...and....I can't believe I'm saying this in the state of NH - they ran out of real maple syrup. Which leads me to ask one question: HOW?!?? Here's the thing. Not only do we live directly next to the largest producer of real maple syrup in the country (shout out to my Vermontonians); NH also has TONS of grocery stores that offer....wait for it.....REAL MAPLE SYRUP!! So, I can only assume that someone goofed up hard on their weekly inventory and failed to account for the popular demand of real maple syrup. If you're not familiar with the locale, literally every single resident in New England will request this stuff over the manufactured shit. Now, I know what you're thinking. "Of course, they ran out! Are you mad?" The thing is though....they could have prevented this fairly easily. I wonder if they'd have minded if I had walked in with my own real maple syrup from the local grocery store. (´～｀) I'm seriously half tempted to try this next time. Syrup rant aside, the decorum is rustic and very much New England style. Also, if I didn't mention it before, the Mimosas were excellent. Server was wicked nice, too. She was very apologetic about the syrup faux pas, but it's not like we blame her anyway. I just think it's silly to run out of something the state of NH has plenty of to go around. Okay. Sorry. Maple Syrup rant REALLY over this time. Promise. I actually just remembered a third thing I didn't care for: the salt shakers. So, it seems the kosher salt flakes don't fit well through the holes on the shaker. Which mean we had to ostensibly pop the bottom plug off, sprinkle the salt into the palm of our hand, then distribute it manually that way. It was tedious and unnecessary. I'm beginning to think there is a pro-health conspiracy in Bedford. I wanna return one day and maybe even try out a breakfast sandwich or something. It's worth mentioning they have two entrances: one for take-away and the main one. Just be sure you're entering the adequate side for your food endeavors. Overall, a solid choice for breakfast. I'm giving the Purple Finch Cafe 4 brilliantly blended scramblers with all the fixins out of 5. read more

Great food. Our second here. We were visiting Benedict farm in the region and decided to have breakfast. We will not be eating here anymore. They never re-filled our coffee cups, even though they were refilling everyone else's cups. Also, they never gave us water. All the other tables had water. Then we looked around and realized that we were the only colored people in the restaurant. My wife and kids are Brazilian and I am from Guyana. We got seated and ordered an appetizer, bambam bites, which was sweet but very good. I am not one who usually gives a review publicly, but I wanted to give a special shout out to the Purple Finch Café in Bedford, New Hampshire. Chef Abel "Manny" is a super nice guy who owns and operates this unique restaurant. He is an Army vet who gives back to the community whenever he can, such as participating in the Meals on Wheels program and fostering children. This was my second time dining there, and the service was always prompt, and the food was fresh and delicious. It is a cozy place that gets very busy on the weekends. They are open seven days a week, 7am-2pm. You will find items on the menu that are for the less adventurous, such as The Bird's Nest or my favorite, The Scrambled Goat, and for beverage, hot Creme Brûlée coffee. My taste buds were certainly stimulated! If you haven't tried The Purple Finch yet, I would strongly recommend it; you won't be disappointed! New to town, had been wanting to try this cute little cafe since reading the reviews. We went yesterday for the first time and were disappointed. First, we know it was a day after the holiday, that there may be a wait, and they may be short staffed. We were prepared and not in a rush. We put our names on a wait list, and were pleasantly surprised to be told 5-10 minutes. We were seated by the hostess within that time frame, and she brought us menus right away. So far so good! We waited almost 25 minutes before my husband noticed what looked like a manager at the counter speaking to someone and pointing to our table. Right after that, a waitress came over and took our drink order. I ordered fresh squeezed on and it was delicious. Since we had been waiting awhile, we had hoped she would also take our food order, too, but she did not. It another 10 minutes. In the meantime, a couple was seated near us. We finally ordered some tea bread and two breakfast sandwiches. Our waitress (who was very nice, but a bit distracted) asked if we would like the tea bread first, we made the mistake of saying yes. The tea bread was out in 5 minutes, and it was DELICIOUS. That made us excited for the sandwiches, because if they were anything like the tea bread, would be worth the wait. The couple seated near us get their food. Another 15 minutes go by. Our food finally arrives...and everything but the home fries lukewarm. I think they forgot about us, again. The creative-sounding food was decent, but not noteworthy. Might have been better if it had been hot, eggs that have been sitting are not good. My sandwich was soggy from sitting. It had half a salad on it, but only two slices of bacon. Less greens, more bacon, please. We wanted to love it based on the creative-sounding dishes, and it would have been nice to find a new favorite breakfast spot. Everyone has an off day, but an hour wait (not even counting the seating time) for unimpressive breakfast sandwiches would make us think twice about trying it again. We had 3 shareables to start blueberry tea toast, fruity pebble bites and a lemon something to start and every single one was delicious! My only issue was the waiting time. We dined on a Saturday so we knew it could take a while for our food to come out. Place is very hidden behind a brick building that looks like an office, it's the last turn before the freeway exit. Name is at the very bottom of the sign next tot the road. Came on a Thursday morning around 8am before shopping at Trader Joe's for vacation. Was about 40% full when I arrived. Greeted immediately and seated. LOVE that they have fresh OJ, really good. They have almond milk for a cruelty free addition to coffee or tea. Banana bread fried bites are amazing and a sugar rich with the glazing and powdered sugar. I'd get them after breakfast instead of before, as putting all of that sugar on an empty stomach would not agree with my system. Fresh, hot and sinful. As others have said, coffee is just okay, so either get one you love first or plan to get some after. I didn't find it bitter, just not great. Ordered the California Benedict and asked for firm yolks. The yolks were perfectly firm just how I like them, kudos for getting that right. I expected slices of avocado on the Benedict, but there was a quarter avocado on the side. The muffin wasn't very toasted and there was not a lot of hollandaise sauce on the egg, so that felt incomplete. Fruit was standard grapes and mostly unripe melon squares. I wouldn't get that Benedict again. Overall great, super service, crazy good fried bread bites, fresh oj and attention to special orders make this a solid choice. read more

Wow! What an amazing diner. Stopped here on the way to White Mountain area and so glad that we ate here. The ambiance is pretty nice, it is tastefully decorated and so much more cozy than most of the diners out there. It was super clean, the style is very open and there are some cute decor on the walls. The service is very good as well. The food has to be one of our all time favorites. Here is a quick rundown: Finch Bites : man-o-man. I call them bites of heaven. This is a must order. It's light, fluffy and perfectly sweet. The Scrambled Goat: loved this dish so very much. Asked them to make it well done. The goat cheese and pesto added such a lovely flavor. Home fries: we originally ordered sweet potato dots but our order came with home fries instead. Since we had waited for over 45 minutes for the food to arrive, we did not bother telling our server. There were quite a few burnt/dried/overcooked pieces of potatoes but the pieces that were nicely cooked were tasty. Their bread is actually very good, unlike most places that serve the cheapest white bread they can find, these guys serve high quality multi grain bread that was toasted to perfection. We were about to wrap up our meal but saw the table next to us order the Croissant French Toast, so we decided to order it. That was bit of a mistake. It not only took 45 minutes, it tasted quite bland. It is a whole croissant dipped in French toast mix and fried. The inside was plain and dry and the very underwhelming in taste compared to the rest of the food. 2 stars for that. The wait time is something they really need to work on.
