Adorable tavern with a fireplace-don't miss it. We're only in the area for 2 days and we'll be back. I couldn't decide between the chicken rice soup and beef stew and got both. Both were great! The star of the evening was the amazing chicken tenders with the honey mustard sauce. They were DF and GF and SO juicy and flavorful! Service was the best I've experienced in ages. Our waitress made recommendations for local spots for us to visit...including a place to snowshoe in Maine! Another couple from Massachusetts came in an hour before closing time (kitchen was closed) and joined us at our table at the fireplace. Even though we'd paid, we hung out another half hour because they were so much fun. Ironically, they were coming from the restaurant at our hotel! We checked the vibe there, but far preferred the friendly intimacy and twinkling lights at Tavern 27. I think you will too! Don't miss the Earl Grey vodka--with honey notes. Best vodka I've had in my life. Went back the second night-had a modified version of the pistachio martini with vegan cream that was the best drink I've had since being dairy free. LOVE the owner for suggesting it. Bought a sweatshirt there for the memories. Definitely try the popcorn shrimp and Jou Jou sauce. Bliss!!

Gluten free Mac and cheese with brisket.

Food and service was amazing! An absolute must stop for those with celiac or gluten sensitivity. The gluten free mac and cheese is the best I've ever had, even pre-celiac. They offered to make my son's gluten free chicken tenders with or without spice which was so appreciated. They even gave us a separate little side of fries for him without the parm/cheese in case he didn't like it. So thoughtful and above and beyond! We bought a cooler and ice afterward so we could take our leftovers with us since we weren't heading back to our hotel for a couple hours.

Yelp told us #1 Bloody Mary. Did not disappoint. The hard seltzer flight was super fun and delicious as well.

A true hidden gem!!! The food was so good and the atmosphere was perfect. We had a Powerhouse Salad with Chicken and the seasonal veggies which were brussel sprouts. The veggies were very obviously fresh cut and not a standard delivery type of veggie. They have great vegan and pescatarian options as well! The drinks were plenty strong and the friendly staff kept them coming. Finally, the desert.... it was worth coming back for alone!! I live an hour and a half away but would be happy to randomly drive up this way just to eat here again.

We were lucky to arrive without a reservation when we did because it quickly filled up with customers. The place is somewhat small and has an open kitchen concept. Outdoor seating is also available when weather permits. Please note that due to its size, they have only one unisex bathroom available. We started with the Gouda Tot Clam Dip. The picture posted on their website shows six potato tots, yet our serving came with four. It was pleasant and tasty. For my main course, I ordered the Peach Glazed Pork. The dish had a nice presentation. I found the pork to be drier than I would have expected, but it was still edible. I guess I had higher expectations. Despite a few minor disappointments, this is a charming local restaurant that is worth a visit, especially if you're in the area.

Prices were on the higher end but not unreasonable given the quality of food. Our primary disappointment (and the only reason for deducting a star from the rating) was the limited availability of menu items. Two of the items we ordered became unavailable after placing the order, and 2-3 other items we would have ordered in replacement were also not available. One probably needs to dine on the earlier side if wanting to access the full menu.

It's nice that they can accommodate parties of 2 so easily. There were several large groups, primarily families so it's certainly kid-friendly. They serve up some of the BEST fries! Our food was fantastic! I hadn't had lamb out much in the last year and they did it up super delicious in the pita! Yes! It was so flavorful and juicy. Yum! My husband had the same and agreed. My daughter had the steak wrap and said it was fantastic too. We all had the spicy slaw and thought it was superb. Now, what we didn't like was that as first time guests, we couldn't figure out what to do for a minute or so, as there's nothing immediately pointing you to the 'on wall' menu, which is toward the back of the place, past the cashier. Three of us standing there to look at the menu was blocking others from going out back to the patio to eat (plates and drinks in their hands). It wasn't crowded for a Saturday afternoon but it was still noisy. We cleaned up after ourselves, though we still tipped. I hadn't noticed the bin for dirty dishes on the side counter when I got us silverware and straws. Next time I won't tip. It's quite self serve. Order and pickup from the same counter. I would recommend they work on a customer foot path 'flow.' They could hire a hostess or greeter, or perhaps provide better signage on where to go and what to do, similar to 'Five Guys' restaurants.

This is a lovely restaurant that sits alongside Meredith Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee. There are a number of seating choices including bar, high top and conventional tables, many with views of the lake. This time of the year, the views of the snow-covered frozen lake are gorgeous. I wish I could say the same thing about our dinner, which frankly was a disappointment. The menu includes a good variety of starters, appetizers, salads, handhelds, and entrees. Two of us ordered the Flat Iron Steak. I realize this is usually a chewier cut of meat, but this was so tough it was inedible. Our server and the manager both could not have been nicer in terms of how they handled this as I returned mine and was quickly brought a different dinner- a French Dip sandwich. This was tasty but there was more bread than roast beef. The other person chose to keep her flat iron streak, but I could tell it was very difficult to cut and chew. Another ordered the Chicken Milanese Salad which included arugula, peppers, roasted tomatoes and olives in a balsamic dressing. The Parmesan crusted pan fried chicken came over-done but that meal was well-liked. The service and the ambiance were stellar.
