Adorable tavern with a fireplace-don't miss it. We're only in the area for 2 days and we'll be back. I couldn't decide between the chicken rice soup and beef stew and got both. Both were great! The star of the evening was the amazing chicken tenders with the honey mustard sauce. They were DF and GF and SO juicy and flavorful! Service was the best I've experienced in ages. Our waitress made recommendations for local spots for us to visit...including a place to snowshoe in Maine! Another couple from Massachusetts came in an hour before closing time (kitchen was closed) and joined us at our table at the fireplace. Even though we'd paid, we hung out another half hour because they were so much fun. Ironically, they were coming from the restaurant at our hotel! We checked the vibe there, but far preferred the friendly intimacy and twinkling lights at Tavern 27. I think you will too! Don't miss the Earl Grey vodka--with honey notes. Best vodka I've had in my life. Went back the second night-had a modified version of the pistachio martini with vegan cream that was the best drink I've had since being dairy free. LOVE the owner for suggesting it. Bought a sweatshirt there for the memories. Definitely try the popcorn shrimp and Jou Jou sauce. Bliss!!

Food and service was amazing! An absolute must stop for those with celiac or gluten sensitivity. The gluten free mac and cheese is the best I've ever had, even pre-celiac. They offered to make my son's gluten free chicken tenders with or without spice which was so appreciated. They even gave us a separate little side of fries for him without the parm/cheese in case he didn't like it. So thoughtful and above and beyond! We bought a cooler and ice afterward so we could take our leftovers with us since we weren't heading back to our hotel for a couple hours.

Yelp told us #1 Bloody Mary. Did not disappoint. The hard seltzer flight was super fun and delicious as well.

A true hidden gem!!! The food was so good and the atmosphere was perfect. We had a Powerhouse Salad with Chicken and the seasonal veggies which were brussel sprouts. The veggies were very obviously fresh cut and not a standard delivery type of veggie. They have great vegan and pescatarian options as well! The drinks were plenty strong and the friendly staff kept them coming. Finally, the desert.... it was worth coming back for alone!! I live an hour and a half away but would be happy to randomly drive up this way just to eat here again.

Owner Kristo Souris ("kids could never pronounce my name so I just went by Sour") MC's behind the bar and mixes balanced, scrumptious cocktails--last night I had the Peach Bourbon Paper Plane for which Kris charred the peaches for extra complexity and depth. Indeed! The Corn Agnolotti comprised a toothsome house made pasta filled with Vermont cheese nestled in a rich Sungold Tomato Brodo (little bursts of bright tomato offsetting the garlic-rich corn-studded broth). On another visit, the Zucchini fritters transcended their name by a magnitude of 10; crispy Salt Cod Croquettes were elevated by a pickled ramp tartar sauce, fennel radish salad, and caper berries. The "cheesecake" was more of a crustless pudding with intense roasted peaches and a crunchy strudel topping. Shout out to Tatum, a fashi-forward bartender who executes Kris's deliciously balanced craft cocktails with verve & finesse while Kris flits back and forth, shaking, stirring, and socializing. He's everything, everywhere, all at once! I asked to meet and compliment the chef. I didn't catch his name, obviously on purpose, since he shyly demurred credit and handed it to the team behind the swinging doors. You won't read about Kris or the cooks online, so just go eat and drink what they got. You will NOT be disappointed.

Seated right away. Good enough atmosphere. It's not Bailiwicks, but good enough... Their bar area is super lively, I like it a lot. We both *don't* love the one and only, unisex bathroom that is always out of hand soap and not always super clean (according to Boyfriend who had to lift the seat.......). They need to keep an eye on that... Waitress was ok. A very loud talker. Food was amazing! I had both their "specials" - the fiddle heads appetizer and the Lamb chops... which were also served with fiddle heads, and a delicious risotto (I didn't realize the lamb was also served with fiddle heads, if I had, I would have tried a different appetizer - but that's my fault because I'm sure she must have mentioned it). Everything was amazing. Lamb was so tender and perfectly flavored. Boyfriend had the hanger steak and duck fat fries and loved it too. Says it's some of the best fries he's had! I'm not much of a dessert person but I like trying stuff at restaurants where I know it will be homemade. I had some whipped cream and butterscotch dessert and it was great - couldn't finish as I was full, but no regrets. We will be back! I love that their menu changes seasonally, it keeps things very interesting.

The lemon sole (fish) and octopus carpaccio (not pictured) were filled with flavor! The pork belly was very underwhelming and I would not order again. The waiter said 2-4 plates per person. I recommend starting on the lower end and adding additional dishes based on how you're feeling. The amount of food was very different from dish to dish. For example the tuna dip had way too much bread and the pork belly was very small in size. Overall I was half impressed. I wish the staff would take a moment to announce the plate as it's placed next to you or point it out on the menu for those hard of hearing and wanting to know what they are about to enjoy. However the music, overall restaurant vibe and half the dishes exploding with flavor made my experience pleasant and I will return again knowing a bit more of what to expect and looking at photos of the menu/meal options beforehand.

We found street parking close to the restaurant so that was great while paying close attention to the fact that street parking is not free in the area until 8 pm. I made a reservation and we were seated right away after we entered the restaurant. Our table was situated on the first floor so the area was small but we had enough space between table to have a private conversation. I started out with salmon tartare and it was my least favorite of all. I found the pita to taste somewhat stale and I ended up not eating it. Salmon was good but I did not find that cream cheese added to the dish. It might be a matter of personal preference but I wished I started out with something else from the menu. My shrimp scampi was delicious and I would come back for this dish. Pasta and sauce were great and shrimp were a nice size. I then went with the beef stew. I found the pastry to be somewhat salty but it balanced with the stew that was slightly underseasoned. Maybe it was intended to be that way. It was a decent dish overall. I loved the strawberry panna cotta. Their rhubarb chutney was beautiful and the dish was a great way to end my meal. I would come back to this restaurant in the future to try out their regular menu.
