Uber quaint spot for a quick bite at historic Mogollon, NM. Everything seems to be done by order, so it'll take a bit of time to get your food. For our order, we started with their Hatch Chili Burger. The patty and bun ratio was spot on and cooked to perfection! The hatch chili was moderate, and I'd expected more a punch to my palates. Needless to say, everyone's spice level is subjective. My buddy's fries look freshly cut and done more on the softer side not the crunchy fried texture if you wanted that. Service overall was good, but I would say the location and the ambiance definitely has me sold! Enjoy!

The Purple Onion is a small cafe in the even smaller old mining town of Mogollon. The cafe is only open seasonally on weekends from 9-5 (plus holidays), which is pretty much the whole town's schedule. Great BLT on a bun with purple slaw. Really nice lunch. Seating is almost exclusively outside - there are tables scattered about the grounds, including some inside an open shed affair, which is cool. Order at the counter, give your name, take a seat somewhere and they'll shout out your name when the food's up. Highly recommended, if you can get to it.

If you can brave winding narrow mountain roads with sheer cliff drops on one side you will be richly rewarded. The pie is good, the green chilli burgers are fantastic, the unique ultra-purple slaw is dee-lish, and the surrounding town is a mysterious delight. Picture a Western ghost town rehabbed abit and crowded in a tiny valley straddling a deep central trench.

Great Chile Cheeseburger! Fantastic pies. Love the place. Very scenic drive, turn east just north of Glenwood on Hwy 180.

Best Restaurant in the Gila! It sometimes gets overcrowded with visitors from Datil.

We met with friends for coffee and breakfast…read more I had just plain coffee which was a nice blend My wife had the mimosa flight; mango, peach, pomegranate, strawberry The mango was nice, with a tajin rim Peach is very nice, I didn't get to taste the pomegranate The strawberry was delicious We also ordered a savory crepe, with eggs, potatoes, sausage, and green Chile The crepe was a bit thick for my tastes, but it was tasty, the green chile was only barely there and not really noticable, the sausage was a good breakfast sausage The accompanying salsa had good flavor but almost no heat The outside patio was perfect this morning If I am in town I would consider returning, I would recommend

I just wanted something not heavy, this place was close. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch panini,…read morewith pasta salad, and a caramel chocolate chip cookie. I also got a sugar-free Red Bull with mango syrup. I wanted the soup, but it's seasonal and doesn't start until October. The chicken bacon ranch wasn't bad, but I wasn't really blown away by it either. The pasta salad needs to be called "olive salad". There's so many olives in it, so so many! The cookie was the best part, not sure if they make them or get them from somewhere. Wish I knew where so I can order a ton of them! The Red Bull syrup wasn't bad I guess. I just wanted the Red Bull and decided to try the syrup flavor added. The young lady taking the order was very polite and patient. Nothing really caught my eye. Cool store inside though. Glad I tried it

Eagle Ranch Cafe is the only spot for gas, groceries and a hot meal for miles around...literally…read morethe only game in town. You'd better like it, cause that's all you got! We are riding motorcycles cross country from Virginia and heading back after visiting the North and Sourh Rim of the Grand Canyon. We have met the nicest people along the way and the folks at the Eagle Ranch Cafe were no exception. The little store has just about anythimg you could need, from tools to shampoo to fresh ground beef, with all sorts of local memorable displayed throughout. There cafe menu is varied and the prices are easy. The waitress was friendly and efficient. We ordered bugers and topped our meal off with homemade pie. There were at least 7 different ones to choose from! I doubt we will ever pass through again, but this city slicker is happy to have experienced a slice of Datil, NM (pop 15)

We've been here a few times passing through and it's typically really good food and service…read more However if you're ordering off the low carb menu, you have to say that exactly. All three of the items on that section of the menu are served with a salad, and are under the same name as some of the other sandwiches that they offer. My mom had ordered the southwest turkey, off the low carb menu, thinking that it would just come with a side salad, so she also ordered some of the soup of the day. Apparently she pointed to the low carb section on the menu while ordering, but didn't say it out loud. Idk, she probably messed up by not saying it. Anyways, when the waitress brought out the southwest turkey Sandwich, and not the low carb meal, mom realized that she'd accidentally ordered the wrong thing. Instead of saying "I didn't realize that you meant the low carb, I'm sorry," our waitress said "well that's not what you told me" and walked away to get our ticket. Then, she proceeded to say that it's not her job to ask if people wanted the low carb option or not, and that my mom should have told her in the first place. Only after realizing that she got a $2 tip, she finally said sorry and then began starting an ARGUMENT with my mother, who is a former waitress herself. In the end after my mom said have a great day, the waitress made a sarcastic comment about how great her day was going and we left. The food was good, aside from the overcooked burger that my dad had. But our waitress was incredibly rude, which is surprising for a little town like Datil. We probably won't be back after that experience. Maybe she was not having a great day, but that's no way to treat returning customers.
