Our driver and guide Michael was an absolute star, tailoring the trip to our interests. Because we booked a private tour, we got picked up and dropped off directly from our cabin! Michael was super knowledgeable of the park itself, the ecosystems, flora and fauna. He shared lots of stories about historical figures who influenced this area in Colorado. We went to several lakes, waterfalls, and hiked in several different spots. We got to see lots of wildlife - moose, elk, deer, marmot, chipmunks, pikas, and lots of birds! The day trip was a highlight of our time in Estes Park and we're so thankful for the special care Michael showed our family. We had a variety of mobility amongst the members of our group and he was very accommodating to our needs.

Sarah picked us up at Stonebrook Resort, where we were staying, at 5:10 a.m. Since it was early on Memorial Day, we did not need to pay an entrance fee or schedule timed entry into the park. Sarah took us up to Many Parks Curve and pointed out the numerous peaks in the distance to the northwest while describing various points of interest below. The sun rose quietly in the east, making the entire experience peaceful and beautiful. She drove us as far as Rainbow Curve, where the road was closed, then walked us farther up the road so we could take in additional views. Throughout the trip, Sarah shared local history, explained natural events over the past century that have shaped the park, and answered our many questions. We were also lucky enough to see several bull and cow moose near their calves, bull elk, bighorn rams, and even a Colorado pika. The tour lasted approximately three hours and ended back at our lodging. We highly recommend Sunrise Tours of Rocky Mountain National Park to anyone looking for a quiet, memorable experience of RMNP in all its natural beauty. There's a parking lot out front which fills up with people watching the Elk, walking around here, & taking the shuttle buses into town and to the Rocky Mountain National Park. You can obtain lots of free information on the Estes Park area including outdoor activities, lodging, activities around town, dining, & shopping. During the peak summer season, you can take the free town shuttles to this Visitor Center, then transfer from here to the free RMNP shuttles. Avoid parking and traffic issues during the busiest times of the year. Outside are some green areas (parklets), a pedestrian bridge that will take you across the river (where we saw Elk), some art, and the Estes Park Veterans Monument. It's a nice place to wander while stretching your legs.
