Best place to horseback ride near Estes! It's right outside RMNP near the visitors center, less than 15 minutes from downtown Estes. The views are absolutely stunning as you do ride into the park. The horses are well taken care of and our trail guide was awesome. We did a 2 hour ride but they have half and full day rides as well. Be sure to bring a rain jacket as it does tend to rain for short periods of the afternoon during the summer. A small water bottle and a hat/sunscreen is a good idea as well. This is the only place I'll ride when I visit, can't wait to go back! read more

When my cousin told me that I was going horseback riding, I was so scared because I had an irrational fear of accidentally hurting the horse or the horse kicking me off their backs but this place helped me get used to riding a horse! Our tour guide, Brielle, was incredibly nice and understanding of our fears and reassured us that the horses were well trained, which they were. She was very enjoyable and a fun person to talk to! My nine year old daughter loves riding horses so this was a no-brainer while we visited EP. There are other stables around Estes Park, but this one is the only stable that actually has you ride within Rocky Mountain National Park, which honestly was a huge selling point for me. I'm horrible with names but our guide, which was just for my daughter and I which I loved, was from a town about 45 minutes from where we live, which was really cool. She was also super nice and was very nice to my daughter. We did a two hour ride and it was so great. The views were amazing and our guide was giving us some history of our surroundings and info on the different types of animals and trees that we were seeing. It was a full experience. When we go back to EP, we are definitely going with this place again. read more

I booked the 3 hour ride because I wanted a longer ride than your typical hour or two hour ride. It was pricey but I felt like a full 3 hours would be worth the cost. First off, it is pretty tough to find parking when they are in full swing because the lots are shared by the restaurant and visitor center. There appears to be no spacing in between rides because they were unloading the previous riders as they were loading the upcoming riders (also why there is a parking problem). By the time everyone was saddled up and we actually headed out it was 2:20. We returned to the barn at 4:45. Essentially it was a 2.5 hour ride. I do not feel like I got my money's worth. When you spend about $500 for 3 people to ride, they need to be sensitive to ensuring we get what is advertised. read more

I'm a horse owner and it was a bucket list checked off the list without bringing my own horses into the park. The views were amazing, our guide Erick was excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed our 2 hour ride and horses were safe. My son and husband were beginners and the horses were very safe for them. The front desk peeps were friendly as well. It would have been nice to get a picture moment with my family on the horses without their backs being to me. Would have given 5 stars if the person, I believe the boss of the operation would have been friendly herself. She wasn't very welcoming and it's like we were a hindrance that she had to help. She was assigning the horses to people coming in. She did not appear to be nice to her employees as well. I don't like leaving bad reviews, especially since this easily could have been & should have been a 5 star review. I went on the 2 hour horseback ride through the Rocky Mountain National Park. I had been excited about doing this for weeks. Told all my friends & family. They paired me with Joker, the horse. Our guide, Erik, was just wonderful! He constantly checked on us to make sure everyone was ok. He pointed out interesting things along the way and told us about the plants, trees, animals & such. We had 2 newbie riders with us, one was a boy, and Erik did such a great job of coaching them on the ride that by the time we returned, both riders looked like naturals. The ride itself was beautiful. The vistas were breathtaking! It was truly a wonderful ride. On the way back, I asked Erick if he could take a picture of me on Joker when we returned. He recommended asking one of the fellows who helped us off the horses. So, up until when we got back, 5 stars all around! Bravo! When we returned, several of the employees welcomed us back and asked if we had a good time. For that, 5 stars. Very nice! Here's where the experience went south, per Erik's suggestion, I asked the guy who was going to help me off of the horse if he could take a picture of me on the horse. This guy was impatient and seemed put out. So he took a picture of me on the horse, but you couldn't see the horse! I asked if he could take a picture of me on the horse, with the horse in the picture. I'd traveled thousands of miles. I wanted a picture to commemorate my ride. Again, he was impatient and put out. Seriously, how many seconds did this take away from his busy schedule? 10 seconds? So, he goes to the front of the horse to take the picture. He didn't say, "Ok, smile" to warn me, so I plastered a smile on my face hoping something would be salvageable. I really wanted a picture of the whole horse. Apparently, this was too much to ask. He was impatient and rude. One star for this guy. This may sound trivial to whoever reads this, but it was important to me. It bothered me a lot after I got home. Like I said, I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I am writing this so management can hopefully make some positive changes. read more

Taylor was our guide for our four hour tour and she was great! The entire experience was so nice and fun! As a horse rider myself it was so nice to get out on the trails and experience nature. The horses are safe just follow what the guide says. Do not ride close to the horse in front and be vigilant. You do this and you will have a great time. If you are staying in Estes Park, this is the perfect place for horseback riding. It was only three minutes away from our condo and the guide takes you through Rocky Mountain National Park. We chose a four hour ride with McKenzie and had plenty of streams to cross and great views. Each horse is equipped with a rain jacket so you don't need to necessarily worry about bringing your own if you do not have one. The wranglers are very knowledgeable about wildlife and take very good care of the horses. We highly recommend. read more

I enjoyed the trip so much but I have 2 points hopefully managers will take it in consideration. 1- we had an incident one of the riders fell off the horse and the Guide tried to make a phone call, tried to ask all the riders if anyone has connection but was no cellular connection at all, I think the Guide should have sort of connection like walkie talkie or another device to make call in emergency situations. And really this is important. 2- the helmet was optional and I personally didnt know that untill I start the ride, no one offered it to me, they should make it mandatory for everyone just part of safety. I have been to horse riding before and all the riders provided mandatory with walkie talkies and helmet The only point I will give it 5 starts because the Guide her name is MEGAN was really great, she controlled the situation very well when the 3 horses tried to flee away, the rider fell off the horse and was no cellular connection at all. Wrangler Michael was SO great with our two hour ride! We had a 5 year old first time rider being ponied on his own horse by Michael, and then two nine year olds and an adult experienced rider. Michael was enthusiastic and friendly, and we LOVED that our ride was just the four of us. The two hour loop was fabulous - scenic (of course! It's Colorado!), Michael provided lots of information on the flora, fauna, and history of the area; and we didn't retrace our steps back to the barn so we were looking at new scenery the entire time! He was also on point getting all of us in a photo, because documenting family time is hard for the usual grownup camera person. The horses look to be well-cared for, and limited as to how many hours they work each day. Every one of them was docile and well-mannered, and the wranglers did a tack check at the barn and then a cinch-check before the ride started climbing - which, as a rider, I appreciate. The stables were sending out the different groups scheduled at our time with their own wranglers, which adds to the personal experience and keeps the rides from being 20 horse pack trains. We passed other rides on the trail, but never had the nose-to-tail experience we often see around town in tourist season. Would absolutely go back and do this again next time family is in town.
