I like this studio enough since I just moved to the area and it has a variety of classes but some suggestions that would benefit ALL of us that pay for class packages. Number 1 - wipe down AND sanitize the floors between classes especially in the hot yoga studio which is covered with sweat. Number 2 - Dust the studios, cubbies, window sills and corners of the floors. Number 3 - if your instructors are going to use the "English" word for poses follow it with the Sanskrit word so students can learn the proper names of each pose. Also the front desk staff rarely greets students upon arrival and never says goodbye or have a nice day when clients leave. read more

I really wanted to love this place. It's the location and the set up. I went to what was supposed to be a relaxing yoga session and left disappointed. The class upstairs was loud. When I say loud... it sounded like people were running back and forth. Also, loud music coming from another class was beyond distracting. The walls are thin and conversations in the lobby could be heard as well. I was planning on signing up for a 3 week trial but decided to pass. I had high hopes for Purple Yoga because of its work study program and that it was so close to where I lived. Parking is great, too. I bought the $29 intro package and after seven days and six classes (Red 70 & Blue 70), I realized this studio's teachers veer away from Eastern philosophy--no mantras, no oms, no use of Sanskrit in calling out asanas. For me, this secular approach to yoga left me wanting. I get it that there will be those who love this approach, who feel Eastern philosophy is uncomfortable and goes against their beliefs, religious or otherwise. If that's you, you will likely love this studio ... but if you are looking for a more authentic version of yoga that exposes you to Hindu and Buddhist philosophy, then I would try Yogalution or Yoga108, both of which are only a few miles away from Purple. read more

Highly recommended! I live north & met a gf from the south to take a class. Reviews looked good and I was impressed with what the site said about Purple Yogas approach to safety measures for Covid-19. We took an outdoor class with Amanda that was blissful. Her verbal cues, music and aura were on point! The gent at the counter (Matthew)was so helpful and had a radiant spirit. I recommend the outdoor class & can't wait to return to take an indoor class. Let me start with... BEAUTIFUL yoga studio. Clean, serene, zen OUT the ying yang! The instructors are very well informed. They take an actual interest in their students. The classes start at 6 a.m and the last class begins at 8 p.m , well there is a time always convenient for me. Parking is easy . Cold water and or nutritcious beverages if you wish. The vibe is fantastic ! I love it , I love it , I love it ! Get your yoga mat and get your new yoga booty on it's way. My kids can testify, Mom's got a yoga butt , because of Purple Yoga. read more

Ok, since writing my first post, I had to follow up with a 5 star (previous review was 4 stars). I'm not sure if someone read the review or what happened, but they have been wiping the floors like I suggested in my first review. I think this speaks to the care they have for their work and their yogis. And regardless of what precipitated it, it has been nice for people to be more mindful of the spillage they have created and to clean it up so the next class can enjoy a clean floor which they deserve. I really do love Renae's class. Her style exudes compassion. They just added new classes which I'd like to try out. This will definitely be my neighborhood studio! read more

I may have a slight addiction to hot yoga. I love how it relaxes the physical tension I feel in my body. I appreciate the calming of the mind and the focus it brings to the rest of the day. I enjoy the sensation of sweating out my stress. Since I was visiting my parents in Long Beach, I decided to try the 6am $10 Red 70 community class with Siri. The facilities here are nice and comfortable. Locker rooms are clean and the yoga studio is large enough for everyone to spread out. I liked the focus the class brought but I didn't love the pace. I was just as sleepy at the end of the class as when I started. One hour of yoga class usually goes by so quickly for me but in this case, I was bored and couldn't wait for it to be over. Maybe I should try a different class at this studio. I'll have to look up the class descriptions again. The names - Red, Blue, Green are confusing and not self-explanatory. read more

I love this studio. I only do hot yoga. 3 instructors in particular are my favorites and while all of the instructors here are very well educated, not all seem equally as passionate as others. The perfect instructor makes their class into an art project - a creative flowing sequence of movements with the right music to go with it. When classes are full you get a really good cleansing sweat, when they're not, sometimes I won't break a sweat until the end of red class. The only thing I'd change is making the red (hot) classrooms warmer from the get-go, so I can bank on having a healing hot yoga class regardless of how many other body's are in the room. read more

I've been going to Purple Yoga for about 5 years now. It's always been kind of a hit or miss with instructors, but I've tailored my visits to account for that. This morning, however, I walked into the Red 6am class and it was quite full... which is fine, because usually people are polite and make room. Today, they did not. Even after I asked the students if they would mind moving their mats to accommodate me and another person, no one moved! NaMaStay was their response, I guess. Eventually, 3 others and I were able to force our way in... no one touched toes or anything, imagine that- there was plenty of room. Anyways, I had notified the instructor that I was going to have to leave a little early (to make it to work) and they were quite fine with that. However, as I was leaving, the person working the front desk walked by me towards the bathroom as I walked to the exit with all my belongings in had. She said no words to me and looked kind of annoyed by something. When I found the front door locked (fire hazard), no only did she not give me a heads up or apologize for not mentioning it, but after I stumbled out the door, she walked up behind me, (again not saying a word) glared, and locked the door behind me. Thankfully, it was a nice flow, but after my class pass runs out, I'm looking for a new studio. I miss the experience I used to have when I attended classes there. It's sad to feel so other in what is supposed to be a place of wellness and healing. read more

I really love Purple Yoga, always pleasant and the studio is clean - they have a variety of classes and I've never had an issue booking. My real complaint is the noise sometimes can be so distracting. You can often hear people stomping around upstairs or speaking loudly outside the door (I've heard staff speaking outside the doors) during a yoga session. It really throws off my concentration with the distractions. I've also noticed some of the Blue 50/60 instructors go at a quicker pace than I'm used to - but this isn't consistent, it depends on the teacher. I'll continue coming here though because I really do love the studio and I highly recommend! read more

Sweaty and exhausted.. wrung out all of the weeks stress in 70 minutes.. now I have an idea of what a red class is.. lots of work.. bring lots of water.. my bottle was empty in 20 mins Bobby is a good instructyor.. but this is not,I repeat not a beginner class. Not much alternative poses are offered. Instead side crow pose and inversion are the norm.. None of which is in my practice. I'm just not that flexible.. on a good day I can do crow After sleeping on a hard hospital bench for 2 weeks and no exercise much less yoga, I'm happy to just be exercising again Will go again.. register early as this 5 pm class fills up!! read more

Friendly yoga studio with a great offering of classes and great instructors. I like that they play music throughout the class and they offer heated classes, but not as hot as bikram, which is much too hot for me. I also love that the duration of the classes are 50, 60 or 70 minutes, not 90 minutes. The blue classes are not heated, which I really enjoy, depending on weather and my mood. The red class is a heated flow class and green is heated non-flow. It's also very reasonable in cost and they sometimes have different promotional packages as well as community classes which are discounted. read more

I've been coming to this studio off and on for the last several years (due to moving, etc.) and am so happy each time I come back. It is a unique yoga studio in that the teachers really give you individual attention to help you grow your practice, no matter how full the class might be. My experience with purple yoga has been challenging, rewarding, and as cliche as it may sound, spiritual. I started practicing yoga about 2 years ago and while my lack of consistency causes me to be stuck in beginner mode, I have never enjoyed something as much as the classes in Long beach at this studio. I have taken classes with almost all of the teachers, and it is never the same, never dull, and never feels forced. These professionals genuinely care. They don't make you feel uncomfortable when you show up a little late, they don't roll their eyes when you ask a question or can't quite get into a pose, (even if it is your 30th class of the month.)They don't judge and they don't try to make anyone feel awkward or different. If you are curious about classes or just trying to find a studio and are new to the area, I think this is the place for you. I like that there are advanced classes and teachers who are the BEST in their field, but if you are a beginner, that is just fine too. There may be 100 yoga studios in Long Beach but the place to spend your money, and connect to a network of caring yogis is Purple Yoga. read more

I was feeling negative and thought I needed to do something to get my mind off. It was last second and I yelped yoga and this was around my area. Seeing how I came in 10 mins before class, signing up as a new customer was pretty fast. Julie's class at 4pm for 50mins came out to be $20. I am testing out the 2 weeks trial period. On Monday I took a red class with Jessica H and it was amazing. She was an excellent instructor and the poses were challenging. However, I just took at red class with Cidney Corpuz and it was terrible. He was so loud the entire class and disrupted us during meditation. He began the class talking about how he is a warrior and praising firemen, police officers and military. He wouldn't stop making jokes and literally laying next to people's faces and saying he was going to tickle them. This is NOT relaxing! He seems to love the sound of his own voice. We started with a 30 min warm up which was where I almost left. I thought I made a mistake and went to a teacher training or beginner class bc he was going through each pose and explaining what it was. I was in child's pose for 10 minutes then cat cow for 10 min. It was a terrible experience. Also he was promoting his Instagram page which is tacky. I want to continue coming but now I won't be able to go Wednesday nights. Purple yoga, pay attention to your teachers and regulate their practice! He only had a quarter of the students Jessica did for a weeknight class at the same time. read more

This place is perfect if you have an odd schedule like myself. Last thing I want is to pay $109 a month (autopay price) and not go because my personal and work schedule could not accommodate. I work 12 hour shifts and spend my days off in San Diego. Even with this hectic schedule, I am able to make it to yoga 3-4 times a week. During the week they have classes as early and 6 am and as late as 8:30 pm. This is perfect for my 7:30 am to 8:00 pm shift! They have yoga for all levels. The red classes are real tough and perfect for those who want to lose weight. There are also classes that allow you to explore cool new poses. I really love this place. read more

This is as good as it gets for hot yoga in the Long Beach area. It's a modern, and upscale-ish facility with wood floors. There are fully equipped locker rooms with bathrooms and showers. There are even complimentary face towels (a must use). There are yoga classes on weeknights as late as 8pm which works great for busy people like me who may not be able to make an earlier class. There are even morning and evening classes on the weekends. Instructors are great. I've done mostly the RED classes. You will bust a sweat about 20 minutes in, but I can already see results as far as my bosy shape and overall well-being. I got the 25-class pack, which averages out to about $11.00 a class. Not bad at all for all that you get. I went to the Bikram yoga studio across PCH and the wet carpet with smelly body juice, oppressive humidity and outdated facility really turned me off. This place feels clean, hot but not THAILAND hot, with high quality instruction and works with my schedule. You have no reason not to do yoga with Purple Yoga around. read more

I am so humbled to have been able to share my practice with the folks of Purple Yoga - Long Beach. While I in Los Angeles from the months of June and July. I experimented with several studios. Purple Yoga offered a great 2-week intro that I just could't let up. I attended both the Red Series and Red 2.0 classes. I recommend taking any class from Jessica Hallett, Cidney Corpuz, and Siri Delaney. These folks were my go to Hot-Power Instructors. Each with their own unique twist on a hot power vinyasa, it was interesting to have the opportunity to not only practice with such variety, but also be engaged and challenged on different frequencies. Playlists were always on point, the instructors always brought the heat (pun intended) and such a beautiful studio space - what more could you ask for? To top it all off, there were even shower stalls in the men's room, awesome! As an out-of-towner, Purple Yoga was a sufficient and very satisfying place to come and find my spiritual practice. I would certainly come back again and practice at the Long Beach location. read more

Sold! With only a few days left of the 2 Week New Student Intro Pkg deal I purchased (only $20), I had to sign up for a membership with Purple Yoga. The moment I walked into this studio, I fell in love. I think the way they have it worked out is they have the instructors, before their class, behind the front desk to greet everyone and sign everyone in. It's great that they do that cause it gives them a chance to get to know each student by name. Everyone is very nice and friendly at this studio. I'm loving the warm welcome vibe here. The studio is very clean and not to mention beautifully designed. There are two rooms they have classes in, one downstairs which is a little small with no mirrors, and the main room upstairs which is bigger with mirrors which help me, personally, become more aware of correcting my poses. Each room has dark wood floors and is very clean. Also I love that they have cubbies in each of the rooms to put your personal belongs in so you don't have to leave it outside of the room and worry about your stuff. There are also shoe holders outside each of the rooms. The bathrooms are pristine as well. There are also showers for those who are on the go. I've taken the Blue 2.0, Red, and Meditation classes, which are all great. I definitely am loving the hot temperature. For sure I'm a sweaty mess after class but I feel so good after all that hard work in class. So far the instructors I'm loving is Bonnie (fun), Siri (sweet), Jessica (encouraging), Amy (calming), and Vidya (soothing-love her voice and accent). I love that there are so many classes, it suits my always changing schedule well. Though one thing that really bugs me is that there is no water spigot to use when you bring your own bottle. Presumably because they sell bottled water. It feels anti-yoga and money hungry and turns me off that they are ok with plastic waste for money profits. To boot, all of the classes I take are in a hot room at 100 degrees...come on. EDIT: It was remiss of me not to mention that there are excellent instructors here. Very different styles brings lots of variety to each class...Cidney, Siri, Ace and many more. I guess my not mentioning the awesome instructors before goes to show how much the water situation can turn someone like me off. It still really bothers me, and it bothers me even more that the water spouts in the bathroom sinks are so low that you can't fit a water bottle in either. But I do love the instructors! read more

I finally decided to try hot yoga after so many people recommended it. Until Purple Yoga, my yoga experience consisted of 24 Hour Fitness classes and the P90X yoga video. After Yelping, I found Purple Yoga, and bought the Intro Package online ($20 for 14-days, unlimited). Facility: 1) Location is tucked away in the little corner of the plaza (may be easy to miss initially). If you look for Claim Jumper, it'll be easier to find Purple Yoga. 2) The studio is designed/decorated in such a way that it puts you at ease upon walking in. The instructors also sit at the front desk when you check-in and greet you, which is gives classes a more personal vibe. 3) Locker room with showers and bathrooms is a little small, but it works and is clean/well-maintained. You can tell they really thought about everything--the showers have shampoo/conditioner, and the bathrooms even have tampons/pads. Classes/Instructors 1) I took the Red/Green classes in the hotter room upstairs. They also offer Blue classes in a cooler room downstairs (see their very user-friendly website for further details). 2) I took classes with Simon, Ace, Kim and Joe. When I go to the gym, I'm very particular about my instructors, but you can trust that you'll get a good workout at Purple Yoga, regardless of the instructor. 3) They offer free towels! You'll be sweating A LOT, but you'll feel oh-so-good! 4) The rooms have hardwood floors which instructors clean after each class. 5) There is a gap in between classes so you don't have to feel rushed to get out for another class. Overall, I highly recommend this place. If you can afford it, it's worth going. Although I only did the 2-week Intro, I felt healthier (mind/body/soul-wise) and I could see that my body was leaner. I regret that I found it so late (3 weeks before moving up to Northern California!), so I was only able to finish my Intro Package. Purple Yoga has set high standards, so I'm trying to find a place as great as Purple Yoga up here! read more

I bought the special that they offer on their website, $20 unlimited classes for 2 weeks and I fell in love. I wanted to try it out before I made any commitments and I absolutely love love love this place! Definitely going to become a regular of this establishment. The staff from the receptionists down to the instructors are all very friendly, helpful and professional. They offer classes ranging from beginner to experienced, but even with the experienced classes anyone can join and keep up because they show ways to modify any and every pose. Instructors here definitely know what they are talking about and strive to make you feel right at home with yoga. There are individual showers available in the women's restroom which is always clean and fully stocked with feminine products if needed. Lockers are also available in the women's restroom to store your things but you must bring your own lock. Each yoga room has its own section where cubbies are available to store your things also if you want to keep them close by. Parking is ample and since the yoga studios are located in a busy plaza there are plenty of after workout eat or hang out spots to choose from. Drop in classes are available for $9 if you don't want to sign up for a membership. Registering and or canceling classes is very easy to do online so you don't have to call or go out of your way to drive up there to do so. Hope this helps! read more

I really love hot yoga. I come here on classpass. I really enjoy the great and the instructors. They are all very different from one another. 2 bummers: 1.)The people who are at the front desk are sometimes friendly and other times I feel like I am bothering them when I check in or ask a question (like if the class is upstairs or downstairs?) Sometimes they just seem so annoyed. 2.) No water! Really? I mean you can buy it but there's nowhere to fill up your bottle. For a pretty small price they could get a water cooler. This review is based ONLY on the sales knowledge. I have not taken any classes. I called prior to driving all the way from San Gabriel, in search of a manduka bolster. They guy who answers first, has no idea what I'm talking about.. So I explain it to him, he then says "oh ya! We have those." So I drive down, and low and behold, he does NOT have bolsters, but instead has ONE travel sized meditation pillow. (Mini sized). So I'm irritated but whatever. I look at some other manduka products. The guy leaves and has some lady help me. She has NO idea if they have any mat cleaner in stock, nor does she know ANYTHING about the manduka mat I started questioning her about. Product knowledge is obviously not their strongest quality. Hopefully their classes are better. But based soley off knowing that their employees don't even know what a bolster is, Nor do they know anything about the mats they sell, I will not be trying classes here. read more

I got the 2 week intro package and tried this place out. I have been to the one in Fullerton and had a bad experience with an instructor, so I thought this one might be better because they had different instructors. And boy, was it! I loved it!!!! The studio is clean and it doesn't smell like sweat (hard to believe because everyone was dripping sweat!). They have different levels. Since I was new, I went to the easiest one. They take it a bit slower and there are modifications if you can't do the poses. I felt so refreshed and just plain happy after each session. I was so sad when my two weeks ended. The ONLY reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the price. I WOULD 100% give this place 5 stars if it were more affordable. I guess compared to other yoga places the price would be right, but I am a full time student and I really don't have the money go to Purple Yoga on a regular basis. I guess I just have to stick to the yoga classes at 24 Hour Fitness :[[ Maybe someday I will be able to afford this place. Sad to say, it probably won't be for a while! read more

I've tried 4 yoga studios before I decided to write this review. Three of the 4 were hot yoga studios and by far, Purple Yoga is the best. Pros: The teachers as so awesome! I've taken classes with almost all of their teachers. All of them have a unique style and energy, each of their teaching styles challenge me in a new and refreshing way and I have no complaints about any of them or their teaching. The studio itself is clean and doesn't smell. They actually have towels for you to use to wipe up your sweat and/or the floor and they don't charge for it. They have classes every hour and at least 2 community classes where you pay less than $10. For a working mother like me, I need a diversity in schedule so if any of you are on the same boat - you can't beat their schedule. Their contract is more than fair ($109 unlimited auto pay) and policy on cancellation is awesome. I had to cancel last year due to financial reasons and all I had to do was submit my request in writing 30 days in advance. I will be renewing again this week. Cons: Purple Yoga is not within walking distance to me. Honestly, I have no cons. read more

Being a yogi and yoga instructor I really value great yoga studios and teachers. The studio is clean, peaceful, and has two yoga rooms. One upstairs for the heated classes and one downstairs for the blue classes. Purple yoga is a great place for yogis at all different levels. I would consider myself more advanced and like to take the Red or Green classes for a bit more of a challenge. These classes are both heated. The Red is a similar to a Power class, which usually includes a flow and can be a bit faster paced. The Green is also heated but the pace is a little slower and you really get deeper into your stretches. I really recommend Jessica, Cidney, and Ace. If you are a beginner, have no fear! The Blue class is a perfect class for you. This class is set to room temperature and the teacher will lead you through all the postures slowly at first. Wish they offered more specials on the class packages! Look out for those and check the schedule for class times! read more

Yeah, I love Purple Yoga. Somehow when I moved to Long Beach last year and began hunting for a hot yoga studio, I missed Purple Yoga. I am still not sure how this happened, but for the first 9 months I lived here, I drove to CorePower in Huntington (which I also love... but it's FAR). At some point, I did another search on Yelp! (thank goodness for Yelp!) and found Purple Yoga. I realized they have hot yoga classes and was completely sold. The studios are clean and they have TONS of classes at all times during the day. I love their instructors... I have yet to have one that I didn't jive with. Whether it's someone energetic and inspiring or someone soothing and calming, I always walk out of the studio so grateful that I made the time to go in. I've done their non-heated yoga, too, but that just doesn't do it for me. I like their Red Series and their Hot Yoga the best :). I also love that they have 6am classes--a great way to start your day! I've taken a little hiatus from Purple Yoga to use up some groupons and finish my classes at CorePower, but Purple Yoga will definitely be my forever go-to yoga studio. It's a great location, too, with tons of parking. Can't wait to head back! read more

The instructors are very attentive and skilled in their practices and provide a smooth and guided experience. I can't recommend this studio enough. Good hurt. That's how I feel a day after the "red series" yoga class at Purple Yoga. Decided to go with the more intense of the class offerings (much to the chagrin of my aching muscles), and despite my lack of flexibility and limited knowledge of yoga, Joe (instructor) was very encouraging and accommodating, offering modifications to the poses to give me options for my skill level while instructing the other class participants into more advanced poses. It was definitely the most positive yoga experience I've ever had and I'm excited to go back and try out some of the other classes. And talk about a gorgeous facility!
