I was informed of this place through a friend. They kept ranting and raving about Jorge Romero and I thought, why not try him out after losing my barber. Not only did he give me an amazing fade but he knows how to cut hair. He knew how to line up the back of my head as well since it's flat . I did the VIP treatment, which is nice because you get any top shelf drink, though all I wanted was a Fiji or Evian Water since I'm allergic to alcohol. This is a review of my first visit to Purpose LA in Burbank. I paid $65 for a haircut and beard trim on July 12, 2022. I walked in looking homeless, and Sam sent me home feeling like a new man. Sam's attention to detail is evident with one look at my fade, and my beard has never looked better. No barber before Sam has ever trimmed my wild eyebrow hairs that hang down. Before I get into the details, I just want to say that Sanya is one of the best barbers I've ever come across. So my wife has brought our 3 year old son here on a few occasions over the past 5 months and each time she's raved about the service and the cuts always look great. She's always mentioned how cooperative our son was so I decided I wanted to take him myself. Turns out, maybe he just doesnt like getting his haircut with Dad. As soon as we began walking towards the chair, an absolute meltdown began. This was when multiple staff members came by and did an amazing job with helping console and calm him down. Incredible service all the way around even before starting the haircut. With the help of the staff we finally calmed my 3 year old down and convinced him to sit on my lap. I thought the tough part was over and began telling the barber, Sanya, how I wanted his hair to be cut. As soon as he went to grab the clippers, my son completely lost it and refused to allow them anywhere near his head. Now, the way I wanted my son's hair to be cut was not simple; zero sides, high fade and trimming the top which I thought wouldve been impossible without clippers. Me personally, I'm very particular about my own hair and have gotten haircuts from all over LA ranging from $40-$80. I say this because what Sanya was able to do was nothing short of amazing. With the use of ONLY a comb and scissors, and an incredibly uncooperative client, he gave my son a cut that was beyond any of my expectations. The sides were as short as I wanted and the fade was on point. You don't have to know anything about cutting hair to realize how much talent it takes to do that without clippers. I went into my haircut today hoping that Jorge could save me from my last haircut which was completely and utterly horrible and he thankfully delivered. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he was able to replicate it well. His barbering, personality, and conversational skills are on point! After the cut, he uses a hot towel to help remove hair clippings off the face (something I wish all barbershops did), then finishes with an aromatic spritz to calm the nerves while you lay there and relax for a bit. He'll style your hair then offer a complimentary beverage to wrap things up to an amazing service. My only gripe was that the shampoo was an extra $5 (which he kindly gave to me for free since he was running behind for my appointment), but even after the $15 tip I left, it came out to $60 total...a still reasonable and way better price compared to another place I was going to where I was dropping $80 every 3 weeks. (Bonus: He also takes Venmo!) As far as the place goes, his studio is located in the clean and modern Salon Republic in the Burbank Mall, which offers plenty of free parking. Everything was thoughtfully put together and well organized...far from those messy babershops you commonly see. I will definitely be coming back to see Jorge, and am glad to say that my search for a good barber has finally come to an end after countless trial and error. P.S. Since I live in Burbank, I love the fact that he's local. No more sitting in traffic on the freeway trying to make it to my haircut appointment! read more
