The facility was very clean and staff was friendly while I was making my donation. However, the cats were clearly very obese and not being fed the correct diet, especially to help with their obesity. Firstly, there were two bowls for food per cat sold to the brim with kibble. A place such as the boulder Humane Society that cares for cats should know that cat should not have constant access to food because they do not know their limit. Same goes for dogs. Not only are they not supposed to have constant access to food, but they're also not supposed to eat kibble. Cats cannot process the grains that are in every brand of kibble whereas dogs can. It was a shame to see that a place that's supposed to have an animals health in mind treat them so neglectfully.

One more insight, at the end of one of their handout about nutrition, they accuse vets for taking money for food recommendations. This is far from the truth, vets receive a discount from most pet food companies for personal pets, only.

I filled out an online form on her phone for a full refund. After numerous attempts of contacting Nicole and FRFR, I filed a complaint with the BBB. They attempted numerous times to contact FRFR with zero response. Awful support with their animals, and now considered thieves.

This rescue was awful. All of these things were lies. He is dog reactive, wasn't leash trained when we got him, still pees in the house from time to time, reacts aggressively to men, and has such horrible separation anxiety that he tears apart his bedding in his crate unless we sedate him before we leave. It's not his fault at all, and we understand that, but for this shelter to not mention any of the above issues, which we noticed in less than a week, they would have to be either A) Intentionally lying to us, or B) So neglectful and uncaring that they hardly knew the dog at all. The second might be the case, as our dog also showed signs of never being played with, or being played with very little. He not only didn't know what a pull toy was or what to do with it, but he also had no concept of fetch (when we tried to pull the toy with him he would simply drop it, and when we threw a toy he just looked at us, clearly confused.) Last but not least, he reacts to any kind of scolding viscerally and dramatically, literally cowering in fear any time we try to scold him. He's a fabulous dog and he has a heart of gold, and we wouldn't trade him for anything in the world, but the fact that this shelter didn't mention ANY of these issues before we adopted him is completely unacceptable. Add to that the frankly ridiculous 400 dollar adoption fee and you get a recipe for disaster. We feel like we were scammed, and in the future we will stay far, FAR away from this rescue. We suggest everyone else does the same.

Their purpose is to try to find the best fit possible for these dogs so as to make sure these dogs aren't put through more trauma and have forever homes. With that, merely putting in an application for a dog doesn't guarantee you're the best fit for the dog you're interested in compared to somebody else. From what I understand they will often take a while to go through their applications because they want to make sure the dog gets adopted by the best candidate for the dog. There are plenty of dogs my fiancé and I could've applied for and probably would've been denied for because they just wouldn't have been a good fit. Also...I'm sorry, but given the fact that this is a RESCUE, not a breeder or whatever, they can't guarantee the breed of the dog ffs. Since they're a non-profit I don't think they have the funds for DNA tests when they're often funding medical treatment etc for the dogs they're rescuing. If you're heart set on adopting a breed, don't rescue I guess? We adopted our dog several days ago and we are in love. His foster family was amazing and we even have made a point to stay in touch with them so they can see how he's doing :) It took Becca/the fosters a few days to get back to us but the process was exactly as expected given the fact that they clearly wanted to extensively look through applications. He is such a wonderful fit in our family and we are really grateful we went through a rescue that clearly really cares about every dog they adopt out.

I have adopted and cared for pets throughout my lifetime. I have worked from home for many years, which has allowed me to dedicate a great deal of time and attention to my animals. I have also worked with and rehabilitated many pets successfully, and I have never had a need for professional training. I understand the importance of making sure animals are placed in safe, loving homes. However, I don't believe that declining an adoption solely because I am not willing to pay for professional training is reasonable or an accurate reflection of my ability to care for a pet. I have the experience and knowledge to work with my own animals, and I have references who can speak to the care I provide. My pets are not simply animals in my home, they are part of my family. I take their care and well-being very seriously, and I have always provided them with a loving, stable environment. It is very sad and frustrating to be denied the opportunity to adopt based on something that, in my experience, has never been necessary.

My family has been looking for an addition to our family. We've spent numerous hours doing meet and…read moregreets. The first dog we met was not a good fit for our dog. Yet they recommended a second meet and greet with this dog. They had to put a muzzle on for this meet and if it wasn't for that muzzle, our dog would be dead. So, we kept trying and found another dog that ended being a good fit, but with a recommendation to do a second meet and greet to make sure. Today my family showed up to do the second meet, and they refused to do it because last time there was a little growling, but no malicious with it. This was supposed to confirm or not if this dog was a good fit with ours, and they wouldn't let us. But they'll let a known very bad match do the second meet. The first time we were there, there was another lady who had spent all day falling in love with the cutest puppy. She went to start the adoption paperwork and then told she couldn't adopt this dog because there was a hold on it. What the hell is wrong with the Longmont Humane Society, messing with people's emotions and the additional stress put on the pets and the pets in your facility. We have successfully adopted several pets from there in the past. We will definitely never return to this facility.

The staff is pleasant and the volunteers are informative. We had a lovely walk. I like the rubber-like surface that has been added to the walkway. They are always improving. We saw many animals out enjoying the early morning breeze before the heat of the day. By the time we got back to our vehicle it was getting quite warm. Always a great experience.

We brought our young kids here on Saturday and had a wonderful experience. We got there at 9 am…read more(right when they opened the doors) and while it was very windy on the walkway, it was a relief against the blazing sun. Many of the animals were active until around 10:30/11 when the temperature warmed up. Right out of the welcome center, we saw 2 of their jaguars (which we were told are usually pretty elusive), some foxes, bobcats, bears, and to our happy surprise, a cheetah. It came out of the shade in the back of its habitat and approached the fence close to the walkway because an employee was driving by. It sat there for awhile until the employee drove off, so we were able to get lots of pictures. My son LOVES cheetahs, so this was definitely a highlight for us. Of course, when we mentioned it to not 1, but 2 employees/volunteers, they both said that that sanctuary location doesn't have any cheetahs. I showed them the pictures and they stated that it was a leopard. While they certainly do have a leopard (which we also saw), this was indeed a cheetah. So, my 1 suggestion to the sanctuary is to educate the staff on the animals there. Aside from that, we also saw wolves, lions, tigers, and camels. Be prepared to walk the 3 miles round trip. Bring lots of water and snacks (they have bathrooms and shaded rest stops along the way). Bring binoculars (or rent theirs for $10 like we did)--the sanctuary is expansive, far beyond what's next to the walkway. And take your time! We told our littles that the animals were playing hide and seek. It is a worthwhile experience!

I know my Lolly felt at peace with her transition. I will never take a pet to a vet clinic for euthanasia services ever again. On the day of my appointment, I was nervous and scared, not sure if it was the right time. When they told me "Chas" would be my vet, I felt relieved. Because the last pet I euthanized was nicknamed "Chas," so I know the universe was telling me it was the right time and that my other pets were with me to greet her. Thank you thank you thank you, Dr. Chas and support staff! You made my pet's passing very comfortable and special. Dr. Chas is very wonderful.

Just wanted to say how awesome the doctors and staff are at Arapahoe Animal Hospital. Twinkie, our…read moreterrier mix, became suddenly deathly ill on a Sunday. . My regular vet at Arapahoe was not in that day, so we saw Dr. Califf. Dr. Califf diagnosed Twinkie with pancreatitis, hepatitis, colitis, an inflammation in her liver and kidneys and gallbladder. She was extremely dehydrated so we left for there to be treated. Dr. Califf updated me every few hours with Twinkies care. After three days we got to take her home and continued her treatment and meds at home for 2 weeks. Her follow-up yesterday showed that all of her blood levels are now normal, and she is doing great! Thanks to Dr. Califf and the awesome, compassionate care she got, Twinkie has her spunk back. So grateful to them all!

It attracts athletes if all ages, healthy eaters of all types. You won't find much meat but there is some. It also as an Asian flair with offerings of congee and fried chicken sides, fish, rice and veggies of all sorts including kimchi . Japanese egg salad sandwiches too. That's one I need to try next time. Today we both chose the mushroom congee with 7 minute egg and a hot drink. A spicy chai with oat milk for my husband and berry hibiscus tea for me. The egg was done perfectly. My husband brought home a side order of popcorn chicken as I will be at a meeting so he will be eating dinner alone. The service was great, everyone friendly and helpful the cafe bright and clean and the ordering counter moves fast. They deliver to and clear the tables. More quick casual places should do this to avoid the piles of debris at bins in the seating area I often see. There is a flat panel screen on the wall featuring cyclists in the wild given that energy snacks were the first products of this company and much for sale here too. The mix of diners covered the spectrum of adults you would expect in Boulder. This cafe is only breakfast and lunch so come when convenient earlier in the day. Parking is free and always available in this center. Lots of construction around the intersection so plan your trip to get into the lot via Alpine and not Broadway. That Broadway construction will be ongoing for a while. It's also a good place to arrive by bike. Pricing was very affordable and variety of meals wide.
