Stopped in for dinner and some drinks. I first visited 4 years ago and was happy to come back in. There is a lot of history at Pussers and it feels like a step back in time. This is a very touristy spot on the main road. The menu is bar food and a variety of entrees that are higher quality. They're known for the painkillers where you pick how much pain you are in to determine the amount of alcohol. The calamari was average but the fried jalapeños were good. The coconut shrimp were very good and I picked the vegetables and rice as my side. Overall, it was a pretty good dish and a large portion. The staff is friendly and the food arrived in a timely matter. They also have a large gift shop in the back. FYI: the address isn't right on Yelp for this. Pusser's Road Town Pub - Coconut Shrimp - Bars Near Me - Tortola, Virgin Islands

It was our favorite local food experience of our entire Caribbean cruise (not including Puerto Rico). It's the original Pusser's British pub on Waterfront Drive in Road Town. The name is a slang for a British Navy officer known as a "Purser". One of the Pusser's daily tasks was to supply rum (a special Admiralty blend or "tot") to the sailors aboard the ship. The original recipe was somehow passed to the founder (Charles Tobias) in 1979. It still remains to be the closest to the original Naval recipe to date. Another fun fact is that this rum is actually a product of Guyana. Port Mourant double wooden pot stills are used to distill it. Most people will say that rum is rum. But hey, I can only tell you that there was definitely something special in that famous Pusser's Pain Killer. My husband even said it was the best rum drink he has ever had. Take that for what it's worth because we really don't drink that much. Ha! Jem was our bartender, and she was absolutely fantastic! So upbeat, warm, and friendly. She's everything that you'd want in a bartender. She explained the Pusser's Pain Killer numbering system. I was sold on the well-balanced No. 3. My husband went with the No. 4. I've had Pain Killers numerous times in my life. This was the best EVER! I don't know if it was the rum or the fresh grated nutmeg. Maybe it was the cream of coconut. I don't know, but I would have had a second one had we not had to walk back to the ship. If that's not enough to tempt you, then you must try their Conch Fritters. It has so much conch in it. More than any I've ever had. They are delicious! The firecracker dipping sauce made it even more special. The Bang! Bang! Gulf Shrimp were also pretty awesome. The batter was so much lighter than it looks in pictures. All in all, a great food and drink experience. We liked it so much that we decided to buy a couple of t-shirts in their branded clothing store. All 100% cotton! So comfy! We can't wait to return. We'll be back again in December if all goes well. A somewhat touristy spot with inflated prices. Drinks and merchandise are noticeably overpriced, clearly aimed at visitors rather than locals. Fun to check out once for the experience, but not a place I'd return to regularly unless pricing comes back down to earth. read more

We passed this place a million times and always wrote it off as a tourist trap. Finally decided to give it a shot, and glad we did. The chicken roti was great--big portion, full of flavor, and exactly what you want on the island. Fish and chips were also very good, crispy and satisfying. Conch fritters? Solid too, no complaints there. Service was fine, and sitting by the water made it easy to just relax and enjoy the meal. Still feels touristy, but the food itself made it worth the stop. read more

This Road Town location was just a four minute walk from the cruise ship area. I liked the wood tone interior style, the gift shop in the rear, the pleasant background music, and the clean restrooms, but the service was just okay, and the drink prices were competitively high at $9 for a painkiller. This is the "Original" Pusser's pub. Tucked away across the street from a parking lot on the ocean it's a great find with large portions and island hospitality. The maritime decorations and pub vibe enhance the dining experience (or drinking). With a full bar and varied menu it was easy to select healthy food and sample a local dish as well. I ordered the grilled chicken breast which arrived with two sliced breasts (see photo) with the curry dipping sauce and a small side salad. The chicken was seasoned lightly and cooked perfectly. I also ordered the sweet potato fries which also came out as a very large portion (enough to share for sure) and the black bean soup. The fries were yummy and perfectly crisp and the bean soup had lots of flavor. The soup looked more like leans that soup but it had a rich flavor of scallions and bacon, super flavorful. I had to take away more than half as there was plenary of food. A great value for the island, definitely enough for two people. Next time just the soup or chicken would be enough for one person. The friendly bartender completed a perfect pub meal. I posted menu photos and meal photos. The guy next to me ordered the potato chip tree...it was HUGE...look at that photo. We enjoyed eating at Pusser's Restaurant on Marina Cay about 10 years ago and was disappointed to hear it had closed in 2021. We tried lunch at the Tortola location in late August 2022 and happily found the food and drinks to be just as good on Marina Cay. Getting a Pusser's painkiller in their distinctive tin cup (with the recipe on it) makes for a great souvenir (the one we got at Marina Cay still looks brand new). Six of us tried painkillers throughout the BVIs this week and everyone agreed that Pusser's made the BEST painkiller hands down. Definitely stop by for lunch or dinner if you're in the area, it's a short walk from the cruise dock or from the marinas in Wickham's Cay. read more

Pussers in Road Town is fun for a Pain Killer with a signature metal cup (yes, of course I got two ). Also great selection of very nice clothing. Very nice. We found Pussers apparel shops in Virgin Gorda and Scrub Island, too. Here, we had nachos with chili con carne -- the best touch was the real cheddar cheese. Obligatory conch fritters - which I will now forever eschew b/c apparently we tourists have so gobbled up conch in the BVI that they are on the verge of being endangered. And btw, not worth it. More fritter than conch (which is a hush puppy which I so love anyway!). So stay with the lobster fritter (if on offer). Salt & vinegar fries. These were exceptionally executed. Super hot super crunchy. Not enough vinegar but a hint. My family noticed that potatoes - no matter how prepared in several of these gorgeous islands - were so fresh tasting and lovingly treated. Cold potato salad, cold potato with octopus, truffle fries, patatas bravas, you name it. Cannot go wrong with potatoes here. Pusser's is right by the ferry in Road Town so easy to grab those last minute trinkets, linen, or Pain Killer. read more

We enjoy eating and drinking here. I found it to have one of the best Rum punches around. The real thing that keeps us coming back is the Jerk Chicken Quesadilla. We stopped in while visiting Tortola on a cruise. This location is close to the port and easy to walk to. You can either sit inside on the porch or inside with air conditioning. I ordered a rum sizzler and my DH ordered a beer. Our ordered was mixed up and my husband's beer came out later. My rum drink was so strong I had to add water to try and cut the powerful rum taste. My DH ended up finishing my drink. It was cool to sit in on the porch and the food around us looked good. Just beware of the drinks before you order. read more

Pussers is right across the street from the Ferry Dock, or a 5 minute cab ride from the Sunsail/Moorings base. Don't visit when the Cruise ships are in town, as it will be packed. This is a British Pub type of menu. Fish n Chips seems to be the mainstay. I tried the conch fritters and found them with very little conch, lots of batter. The wings are decent, as well as the burger. I find myself craving junk food after a week on a sailboat. Full bar that make painkillers on 3 levels, you decide the rum amounts. They offer you a souvenir "tin cup" for a few bucks more. I want to call this place a tourist trap, but each visit has shown a fair number of locals eating here. many years ago we went to passes in the Bahamas and it was a big big fan the good news the painkillers haven't changed they're still Potent and really tasty! If you like sweet drinks you love these as they are only moderately sweet start with a 3 and make it to your second one. We came in for the Painkillers and were not disappointed. They make a great painkiller. My friend had the Rum Punch and it was great. I had the Chip Tower. A huge pile of freshly made potato chips with some sort of cream sauce with tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers sprinkled around. My friend had a jerk chicken quesadilla and said it was great. The service was good, the air conditioning worked, and the bathroom was clean. Should I ever come back, I will skip the Pussers location on the other side of the island where I watched them make my Painkiller without Pussers. Went to the takeout window after a long day of traveling. The fish sandwich had a great spice combo on it, but the fish was overcooked and the sandwich was soggy. It came with fries, which were also soggy and sad. Locals all seemed to be getting pizza and wings so maybe stick with those items. read more
