I could eat a quart of this chili - the ground beef is so well seasoned & the beans add to it without owning it. Ignore the comments about it taking a long time. If you're in St John at a place as popular as this, you gotta adjust your attitude. Yea, the servers are spread thin, but they're kicking butt. They take great care of you. This place gets busy and I believe is first come first serve. Located next to a beach and resorts/hotels, it seems like quite the popular spot. Service was fast and we were able to snag a table. The drinks were so refreshing and they have everything hand shaken vs using a blender which was different. I had a drink with raspberry rum and it was to die for. The food was okay, quite average and came out a bit cold. The works didn't do anything for me since it was a bit bland and tasted undercooked. The jerk chicken lacked flavor as well. We've been coming to skinny legs annually with our trips down to the islands. Even though we always stay on the Cruz Bay side, we venture over to Coral Bay to get our fix once during the trip. This unassuming place is legendary, the burgers are fantastic, and the staff makes you feel like they've known you forever. Don't sleep on their specials, they're usually overly indulgent, but you might as well go for it. See you next year. read more

Been here several times over the years. They have ok food and most experiences up to this visit have been ok. Seems like this place has gone down hill or maybe I didn't notice before. The customer service stinks. We accidentally seated our selves didn't see the sign. When my wife asked some guy who seats you if it's ok if we sit here he said no wait to be seated (mind you nobody was there but 3 drunks at the bar). He then proceeded to sit us right next to the bar which was really undesirable and did not have the ambiance we had experienced prior not to mention my 11 year old having to listen to the drunks at the bar and bar tender cursing. Then it took 30 minutes to get our burger even though the joint was empty. In addition I witnessed the cook pouring alcohol into her cup and the bar tender drinking a beer on the job as well (nice getting boozed up on the job). Lastly, the bathrooms are just plain gross. Please excuse the half eaten burgers but after a day of snorkeling on St John my crew were ravenous and before I had a chance to snap a few pics every burger had already fell victim. The burgers at skinny legs are meaty and filling and the drinks are not bad either. If you are on the east end of St John and need some protein in your belly then this is a solid option with more than enough to go around. The while we only really experience one of the staff members - a very friendly waitress - I can only speak to our experience with this one person but if the rest of the staff have similar personalities then this place is always going to be a fun time. The atmosphere is very much a beach bar & grill vibe with team flags and stickers from all over the place. I have been here many times. The food is always consistently excellent. Today had the Mahi Reuben all on rye bread, moist delicious Mahi fish. Pretty much perfect for lunch! We drove over to Coral Bay for the day and a local we had met in Cruz Bay recommended this since we have kiddos. We got there right when they opened and it quickly filled up. I had the drink special and they even made the kids Virgin cocktails with juice and coconut cream. I had what was perhaps the most delicious BLT of my life: the bacon was piled high, and super crispy, lettuce was fresh, and tomatoes had so much flavor. Everyone else all enjoyed their meals too. They have a large patio area and a really neat jellyfish sculpture. It was the perfect place for a chill lunch prior to departure! It's easy to miss! Once in the parking lot, the entrance is either through the gift shop (perfect ending to the meal) or up an undefined short flight of steps off the parking lot. read more

Service was great. Burgers were delicious and cooked just right. Were able to get the key lime pie and it was the perfect ending - cold, tart and delicious. Loved the chill vibes at Skinny Bar and Grill. Rather kitchy in decor with a structure meant to evoke a jellyfish in the backyard dining area. Very casual with good music playing -- even some Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale. I think they might have had an off- night with regard to service. There was a 45 minute wait for our meals and then we were given another table's check. It was so dark we almost ended up paying it, although it was quite a bit higher than our own. It took quite a bit of time to resolve, but it was correctly resolved. And BTW, food and drink prices were very reasonable and beers were inexpensive (comparatively to many other places, even in the States!) Now, to the most important aspect of the evening: the food. The turkey reuben on toasted sourdough bread was DELICIOUS! I wish I took a picture, but it was getting dark out and -- more importantly -- I was famished and could not wait to dig in. And, truth be told, a picture would not do the sandwich justice. The turkey, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, and sourdough bread came together to make magic! Spent the morning at Haulover Beach in the morning and stopped at Skinny Legs for lunch based on a recommendation from a friend who has a place in Coral Bay. Loved this place. Service was exceptional and friendly. I had the burger of the day. It had cheddar cheese, Asian slaw and yum yum sauce. We all loved our burgers. The place is cool, it has pennants from so many universities. There is a cute shop in the front with shirts that are a better deal than the shops in Cruz Bay which are over priced. Skinny legs is a great outdoor spot for a post-hike meal. They've got a cute shop with all the souvenirs you'll want, food, and a outdoorsy patio. The food was nothing too special but it was also not too pricey. Value-wise it was good. (I got the burger with a side salad. I should note that the side salad really isn't too much of a salad, see attached pictures. Also, I'll note that all is served on paper plates which adds to the campy vibe but decreases the "fanciness" of the meal if that's what you're looking for). I enjoyed the outdoor seating post-hike and perusing the gift store as we waited to get a taxi. TRANSPORT: I would note that it was hard to get picked up by a taxi here. Not many stop by. We all ordered burgers, I got the daily special burger. The burgers were served with potato chips as the restaurant proudly touts it doesn't have a deep frier. My burger was tasty but some of the others at my table were undercooked. Overall a good place to eat but perhaps not quite as good as the hype. We sat there waiting for our food for over 40 minutes before we eventually flagged down our waiter, who then told us that the kitchen was taking roughly an hour to make the food. After we pointed it out they realized that they had mixed us up with yet another table. We had our New Year's Eve, '23 dinner at Skinny Legs. What a blast! The place was quite full, and we had a short wait at the bar, but service was very good. We had rum punch, painkillers, a bushwacker... all were some of the best we had on the island. There was live music, and the guitarist kept encouraging us to give a cheer for Skinny Legs, which everyone was happy to do. For dinner, we had the amazing blue cheese burgers. If you're a blue cheese fan, like my wife, this'll be one of your favorite meals. I enjoy blue cheese, but the generosity of the cheese was a bit much for me. Next time we go, my wife will get the same thing, and I'll switch over to cheddar. We finished with Skinny Legs legendary key lime pie. Outstanding. A lovely way to ring in the New Year! read more

it was a laid back place that aptly represented island life. the food was excellent although the music was too loud. the service was nice and moderately speedy. The one real problem with the experience was this one customer and her dog. the dog entranced by the chickens began barking at an obnoxious volume. when the dog broke free from its owner's grasp and began chasing the chickens around the outside space she exclaimed quote "he pulled away! I had him" in an unidentifiable western accent. she did nothing about the dog and allowed another young man to wrangle him up. overall great experience but I believe they should've kicked the dog out and enforce a no dog policy. read more

It's a very American style restaurant, very Applebees, like with college memorabilia/flags hanging all over. The food was ok but the piña colada was very tasty. The service was very good and quick. I'd read the reviews so knew the food would take a while to come. We were a table who got 3 different burger plus a lentil veggie burger. I'd get the veggie burger next time. I know people love big burgers, but for me this was too big. Hubby and son each finished there. I took more than half of mine home. First painkiller on the island was a mango painkiller here, and it was nice. Place is packed, waiters are wonderful, food is filling, and for 4 adults, 1 alcoholic drink and 1 tea, came to $95 including tip. For St John this is a very reasonable place. We would go back if we are craving burgers. Very casual, laid back, nice crowd. Definitely felt like island time here. read more
