(*Once, when we realized we'd forgotten a leash for the pup and searched for one at the IGA to no avail, Mike asked around, and one of his employees gave us an extra leash he had in his car!) As much as we liked Mike's IGA -- it had a fantastic butcher's counter and great sandwiches -- The Daily Market is... elevated. There are locally made artisinal versions of products on the shelves, alongside the more conventional. The produce is fresh. There's wagyu beef in the butcher section. There's still a great butcher's counter where you can talk to a butcher through the window and ask for exactly what you want. And there's a ridiculously extensive, chichi sandwich counter with lots more than sandwiches (https://www.thedailymarketct.com/online-ordering/the-daily-market/menu). AND a gelato counter! The chicken piccata we picked up recently was excellent and tasted as though it could've been sourced from Limoncello next door. Prices for conventional items are still a bit higher than the are at large grocery chains in neighboring New Milford and New Fairfield. But if you need something really special (Wagyu beef, duck fat, artisinal mustard) or just need a quick snack or meal after a day at Sherman Town Beach (or after a very long drive back from a ski race), The Daily Market is your place.

And a really nice brand, too. For example I picked up a bottle of Momofuku soy sauce - normally I'd have to have that shipped. We got a bunch of things here for lunches and dinners, including bowtie pasta salad with chicken; burrata cheese; beautiful heirloom tomatoes; snap peas; Italian wedding soup; chicken salad. Everything was super fresh, organic and delicious. And the service was not only friendly and attentive, it was super relaxed... while I like Ridgefield there is this overlying social tension everywhere that results in a sort of frosty service in some of the businesses. And hey I get it if I had to provide service to uptight, image conscious, egotistical patrons every day I'd probably end up the same way! Anyway the employees here were relaxed and genuine and it was really nice to just browse the wares and have a nice conversation with nice people. Highly recommend!

We found all the beautiful and fresh ingredients we needed as this store is not lacking for want. I also got a couple of bouquets of fresh flowers and the single genius flower bunches were beautiful but I wanted a premade bouquet and the selections of premades were all starting to look a bit wilty sadly; maybe time for a sale to clear them out. This grocery store is very clean and nicely stocked. There were some ladies promotion vegan meat and they were offering samples but all the different departments had their own fair share of nice tempting goodies. It was packed and parking was tough but they are calling for some decent snow tomorrow (up to 18") so that didn't help the weekend rush. A nice grocery store that our family that lives here are regular and we frequents when we visit.

Last week we had to get a manager because a card reader was broken (has been for about a year I forgot and went to the wrong lane) and the cashier was angry because she couldn't read my card to enter it by hand. Groceries are overpriced and rewards non existent. Sale items often ring at regular price and the parking lot is a nightmare. The only thing worth coming here for is the floral department. They have everything, Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, Korean, Jamaican seasonings and Filipino groceries. Owners are so nice here and there were times they'd give you free stuff like a can of coconut milk etc. Just 6 years ago the banh mi was $4.50 now it's $8.50 and roast duck was $10 now it's $20. Whoah! How times have changed. I used to get 4 banh mi under $20. Wow. How I took all that for granted. Now gotta spend almost 50% more. Thanks inflation and horrible economic times. But..... I can't survive without my Asian food. Place is clean, organized and they're still working on restocking the shelves.
