It is located in Travelcard Zone 2. There are no ticket barricades, but there are ticket vending machines and Oyster readers. There is also an indoor waiting area for the Overground trains. The platform is at street level, so there is step-free access (if you are on the correct side of the tracks). The station is quite simple and plain, with a pedestrian overpass to get from the District line platform to the Overground platform. There is also a decent sized Boris bike stand to the east. During my first visit to London in 2008, this was my first tube station (other than Heathrow) as I was staying at the nearby Hilton.

Pros: * 45 minutes from Earl's Court to Heathrow terminals 2 & 3 * easy payment system by tapping your contactless credit card at the turnstile * 2.10 English pounds meant $2.72 USD. That's a huge incentive to take the tube. Cons: * there should be more emphasis on the need to take the lift to the Piccadilly line located down on platform 6. There is a sign around the corner that says it's 83 steps assuming you want to take the stairs. Not with a 24 inch luggage you don't.

So that is already a plus, no need for the Heathrow Express or the Elizabeth Line. You have access to Cromwell Road for a short stroll to the Natural History Museum & the V&A. Stores in Kensington, north to Kensington High Street, Notting Hill is walkable, you can head west to Richmond etc. The station is also completely accessible, where you do not have any steps from platform to street, which not every station can say. Right outside of the station are a few fast food stores and pubs. That side of Cromwell is not particularly lovely, but when you cross you can feel that it is more residential and less commercial. With the Piccadilly & District Lines together, you can navigate to many areas of the city. I liked staying near Earl's Court and preferred it to the more Eastern parts of the city near Tower Bridge or Shoreditch.

If you are trying to get to Paris, Amsterdam, or any outer cities near London, this is the place to be when needing to take a train. I highly recommend Eurostar since it is a high speed train and will get you to your next destination fairly quick. It is relatively easy to navigate; if I can do it as a tourist, I'm confident most can figure it out ;) The toilets (bathrooms) are a bit hidden. You need to go down a set of stairs for the ladies. The wallpaper reminded me of 2006 Victoria's Secret, and the doors are floor to ceiling offering the most privacy of any public restroom I have been in. The entire station is ridiculously clean compared to any US train or bus station I have traveled through. There are many options for coffee and food, as well as a mini M&S and Tesco Express.... Tesco Express meal deal for less than £4 cannot be beat!!! 5 stars for convince, cleanliness, friendliness, and Tesco Express.

When conversing with the very nice employee here and he was explaining the zones he informed me that the majority of all travelers remain within Zone 1-2 on the Jubilee line. He also informed that the Westminster stop would be where a lot of the sights would be. Upon arrival, I noticed how clean the station was, I didn't see a garbage can in sight, but yet, I didn't one piece of garbage on the floor. All stops here have signage everywhere-- where to transfer, where to exit, some of the sights at that station, etc. what a huge help when you're in a city or country for the first time! They have an employee at the gate so you can ask questions and they are actually eager to assist without an attitude!

That's probably because how they originally built this station, though ironically it seems as if this is the only deep level tube station they built this way.
