Our family recently got into escape rooms and having only done a few, I can say this was definitely our favorite so far. The moment we walked in, our boys (ages 10,12) were beyond excited to get started. The clues and placement of each were very well thought out, and quite challenging! It did cause a little family chaos but we had an absolute blast! There were 6 of us completing the task. We did ask for two clues (remember we're new to this lol) but finished with about 10 min remaining. We booked day of and had a fantastic time in the Lost Cabin room. The set dressing was great and had a wonderful mixture of problem solving and intrigue. It's rated at 3 keys and was a decent challenge for us as mostly first and second timers to escape rooms. Our game master, Sabrina, was super helpful, friendly and welcoming and the four of us had a really enjoyable time! We will be back to try out one of the other rooms in the future! read more

Went to the Puzzle Room to play an escape game and was so impressed!! The game was within a beginner/intermediate ability range (but not too easy) and a lot of fun. The staff was very informative, professional and kind. Everything had been sanitized prior to us starting the game and we had a really great time! I've been a bad yelper and forgot all about reviewing my lovely experience at this wonderful Tahoe location. This place is quite a drive for me, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it. I had a hard time finding this place at first, but I hope I can provide some insight in finding this place as locating it is a puzzle on it's own! It's located next to CVS next to Mont Bleu. It's just a small door that says Puzzle Room. Once you enter the door, you must descend down the stairs into the basement. Down there is a small window where you check in. I really liked the vibe down there as it really puts you in the game playing mood. They also have a bar downstairs in case you need some drinks to calm the nerves of being locked in a room for an hour with your friends. I did the Valley of the Kings room and found the to to be challenging, and had a bit of a thrill factor. Luckily, I was able to escape and call ourselves victorious (granted we asked for a few clues). This location also has a cabin the woods competition rooms in which you battle with your friends to see who can get out first (must have a large group enough for two rooms). I have yet to do that room, so I can't wait to try it once I assemble the troops. Overall, I had a great experience and can't wait to try it again! Til next time! read more

I LOVE Escape rooms! Whether I finish or not. The creativity is always so impressive to me. Having said that, this one was not my favorite. The guy who started us out actually had a conversation with my son wondering why anyone would want to do an escape room on their vacation to Tahoe. What? ! The area was stuffy (was during a heat wave). Directions were confusing to get there- parking was not explained. The puzzles were not clever as much as just trying to confuse. When we asked for a hint or help, he seemed confused about where we were or what we were doing. He later told us we were not his only group- he couldn't just keep watching US. First time doing an escape room and I think had we done the easiest room maybe I would've enjoyed it but when we came in the day before we learned we have to make a reservation, so we decided to do so, then asked what room we wanted to do. We picked the bunker which she then informed us is only on fridays. So then we picked underground or something like that and she told us that's the hardest room. Well today we learned that the room we picked was the second hardest room. Which would've been nice to know before hand. Also would've helped if instead of asking us to pick a room maybe provide the information all up front not as we try picking the rooms lol. So fast forward to today, we come early to sign papers and get to start a little earlier then planned which is nice since we are leaving town today and have a long drive. We only stayed to do this room lol. Megan was our host and she knew all the information by memory which I thought was cool because it seemed like a lot to remember lol you also get 5 hints throughout your time which helped a lot for us. I left frustrated because of the hints and not understanding them all but that's not their fault that's on me so over a good experience. read more

There was a group of 6 of us doing one of the escape room at the Puzzle Room. We had so much fun trying to figure out clues. Our host was kind enough to help give us clues to ensure we weren't stuck the whole time on a clue. The rooms were well built and original. One small suggestion would be to add another light or flashlight for us old folks that can't see well. I would highly suggest going with a group of friends or family. Great experience at Puzzle Room. It took us a moment to find the entrance as it is a bit hidden with no signage on the windows or building. We walked by the A-Frame tucked up against the building the first time, but then we saw it. The location is perhaps a bit different -- a combo hookah bar, dance lounge, and escape room. We visited during the morning so there wasn't anything going on but the escape room. We did Valley of the Kings and while there were a few glitches, overall the experience was very good. The staff was friendly and the room and puzzles were great. During our experience there was a glitch that caused the breaker to flip which plunged us into darkness. It was actually pretty awesome and they should consider making it a part of the actual experience! We visited with the family -- two teens and two preteens. Lots of fun, good challenges, and help when we needed it! read more

We love doing escape rooms. So we all knew we definitely wanted to find one close to our hotel. Lucky for us we found The Puzzle Room just a short walk from the Marriott. We had such a great time. Walking into the place had a very mysterious feel which was enticing. We did two rooms and both the Cabin and King Tut were great a lot of creativity and thought were put into these rooms. The mechanical details were awesome. It's the perfect thing to do on a rainy day. A must do in South Tahoe. read more

This is quickly becoming my favorite activity to do in South Lake. It's not the normal tourist drinking and gambling! Anytime I have out of town guests, I'm bringing them here! The staff is amazing! My hubby and I have done many escape rooms, but the friends we came with were newbies! They were scared and kind of confused about what the whole thing was. The staff were so informing and friendly! They put my friends at ease quickly! They explained the room, and the process... then we were on our way! Transported into ancient Egypt! The detail in the room were so cool. The room was challenging, but not way to challenging, that we couldn't figure anything out! (You don't have to be a rocket scientist to enjoy this room! Trust me, I'm the farthest thing from it, and still could enjoy the evening!!) we had a blast! We didn't get out "alive" but we couldn't stop talking about it all weekend! It was so much fun! We were looking for something family oriented to do while in Tahoe and came upon this place. I wasn't so sure about being locked up in a room for 60 minutes. It didn't sound that appealing to me, but my husband and son wanted to give it a try. By the end, I was having fun! We were placed in a room, and when we were obviously clueless, we were given clues through a walkie talkie by a very nice and personable host. Once we got the hang of it, we did pretty well! The wife and I took my mother in law here for her (58th) birthday. It was a great way to spend the evening together doing something we could all enjoy. The room was definitely challenging and there was plenty to keep our group of three busy. The staff was friendly and took time to explain how things worked before we got started. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting Tahoe and plan to go back myself and try another room. You do need to walk through Xhale lounge to get to the front desk. .My wife and I went to this escape room in 2020 and this room sucked. We thought it was do to covid so we gave it another shot. It was ten times worse than the first time. They barely give you any clues. The rooms are very run down and there is always construction going on. The people running the rooms barely know what's going on. Not worth the money. We were so disappointed. If you're in Tahoe it's worth the drive to Reno to the grand Sierra resort. They have an awesome escape room. I honestly think this room should be shut down. * update to my post. After talking with the owner who was very nice, I would like to change my rating. We had never done a puzzle room before so we really didn't know what to expect in the Lost Cabin, but our host Melissa did an excellent job of explaining what to expect! From the backstory, to the subtle hints pointing us in the right direction when it looked like we were "lost", to the celebration when we escaped with minutes to spare, she made sure we were all involved and had a great experience! The staff didn't seem to be paying attention to the cameras, since we spent a good portion of our time trying to waive them down to let them know our radios weren't working. She confirmed we were in the right direction when we figured out how to solve a puzzle but failed at math, and she congratulated us like we didn't fail first grade reading comprehension. Overall, really fun experience, better done with a larger group so everyone can laugh at each other's blunders. We've done over 40 escape rooms over the last 6+ years. We did "Valley of the Kings" and it was the worst one out of all the ones we've ever done. It was hot and this place has no air conditioning. Tiny rooms that do not have any fans to get rid of lingering fart smells. Joy. The room was so narrow and dark that it was dangerous and they actually placed a ridiculous amount of clues in this awful terrible hallway area. There was a larger room after that one but sure enough they made you go back to the awful narrow hallway again and again. When help was asked for, the hints came generically given, as if they were not watching at all. Hint are asked via TWO way radio...prepare to ask them to repeat each hint at least 3 times in order to understand it with their accent combined with the radio static. I thought I saw a clue on the floor but it was a piece of chewing gum smashed into the ground. I almost picked it up. That wasn't part of the debriefing. They didn't even offer to take a picture of us at the end. We arrived 17 min early to our room. It's not like we were late so why couldn't they do that? That was the ONLY escape room where we didn't get a picture at the end. Wow! If I could give negative stars I would. I can't really believe the positive stars they are getting. We live 25 min away and never tried this place before. We have done A Lot of escape rooms in Los Angeles, CA and many MORE in Pittsburgh, PA, which is home to SO many brilliant escape rooms...I suggest the owner of this Lake Tahoe place take a trip to Pittsburgh and have some lessons in what real escape rooms are like. read more

This was my first time experiencing a puzzle room, and after our visit I will for sure be back. We tried the Cabin room and it was challenging, but the puzzles were so creative and fun.
