The doctors and PA are good. The ladies at the front desk are -- simply awful. Lack of clarity, zero compassion, they do the bare minimum. And today the nurse who I saw did not even take my temperature -- for a possible Kidney infection that is Medical Competence 101. My husband had to ask. She showed no emotion even though I was doubled over in pain. And when she led us to the room for the PA, she didn't wait even though I was hobbling behind her. The staff needs to be trained properly and learn how to treat human beings when they are having a very rough day. And it's not even that busy -- it's not like there are dozens of people demanding things. Shame on the staff. read more

Horrendous. I went in for a women's wellness exam and confirmed multiple times it would be fully covered -- before the appointment, during check-in, and even with the doctor. Weeks later, I got a bill because they coded it wrong. The doctor also pushed a breast ultrasound without explaining it wouldn't be covered. I've ended up with nearly $1,000 in bills. Total lack of transparency. If you go here, get every detail in writing or be ready for surprise charges. Also, I've talked with others who've had the same experiences. ***This review is for the Imaging Center only*** I recently came here to get my yearly mammogram done at their PVHMC Imaging Center in Claremont. This is usually my go-to location. Staff is always pleasant, nice, and helpful. I have never had to wait more than 15 mins after my scheduled appointment, but this time around, I waited almost 45 mins. I saw a lot of women go in before I did. I finally walked up to the counter and ask the lady why the long wait. Funny, she said my appointment was at 4:15 PM. In other words, I was an hour early LOL. Obviously, I didn't check the text notification clearly. Do double check your scheduled appointment date/time prior to heading over to the facility! Lesson learned... Anyway, I finally was called into the room. It took no more than 15 mins for the process to complete. The lady who performed the mammogram was very professional. It can get uncomfortable especially when our b**bies are hanging out LOL. I don't think too much about it. Yeah, I will be back here every year to get my b**bies checked! Please do not bring your children here. We called ahead of time to confirm that this urgent care worked with pediatrics, to which we were told "yes." We showed up at 6:30. They closed at 8, and we got seen just before closing. When the doctor came in, he barely looked at our 7 month old son. He asked for the details and I told him that my son was having difficulty keeping food down and has had some projectile vomiting (but that it is intermittent because earlier that day he kept down all his food). He touched my sons stomach and listened to his lungs and told me that the lungs were clear. He then said that based on what I was describing, he wanted us to go to the children's hospital emergency room to rule out Pylori Stenosis, which is a condition that can be fatal and will require surgery. That would require an ultrasound, which they did not have the capability to do at their location. He also wanted to rule out pneumonia with an xray (also something they couldn't do at the urgent care), to which I asked "but he doesn't have a fever and you said his lungs are clear." He mentioned that it could be possible he has "walking pneumonia." The whole thing seemed very "get out of our hair - go to the ER." Probably because it was closing time. We rush to Loma Linda Children's Hospital ER (because he suggested Loma Linda or Los Angeles) and wait in the waiting room with our extremely tired and sick baby for 5 hours before he is seen at 2 am. We explain why we were sent there from urgent care. As soon as the attending pediatrician walks in, he tells us there is no way that our son has Pylori Stenosis - he is too old. Also, if he had it, he wouldn't be keeping any food down at all. It also doesn't have a sudden onset (our son started vomiting all of a sudden the day before). When I told the attending doctor that the urgent care doctor also wanted to rule out pneumonia, the ER doctor said "his lungs are clear and he doesn't have a fever." And I mentioned that the urgent care doctor was concerned about walking pneumonia, to which the ER doctor said "that doesn't exist in infants." In the end, the ER doctor told us that the urgent care doctor clearly does not know much about pediatrics and gave us wrong information. Our son just has a virus and we have to wait it out. The vomiting is due to his belly being overfull, so we were instructed to feed less ounces more frequently. We got back home at 3:30 am. So overall, we went through hell just to find out this all could have been avoided had the urgent care doctor actually not given us information that 1) sent us into an absolute panic 2) was not even a likely diagnosis based on symptoms and the age of our son. We will never return here. Ever. We were advised by the ER doctor that there is only one actual pediatric urgent care in this area - it's in Rancho Cucamonga. This place does not know how to service children, an not only that, will send parents into an absolute panic thinking their child has a condition that will require surgery....THE. WORST. read more

I am straight up disgusted by the policies in place at this business. And I have found over a hundred people also shocked and appalled that this is how they choose to treat patients. I am 7 weeks pregnant and was scheduled to have an ultrasound. I was told by 4 different staff members that my HUSBAND, the FATHER of the child inside my body, would NOT be allowed to attend the ultrasound. Excuse me?!?!?!?!?! I even spoke to a supervisor over at the hospital who was horribly rude and told me it is due to the odds of a fetus not being viable during the first trimester. While I understand those odds, my husband would still expect to be there. Like they allow at EVERY OTHER FACILITY IN TOWN. No one, and I mean no one (out of the hundred or so people I've asked this week - see the photos attached for examples) have ever heard of a facility with such a horrible "rule". This is NOT the norm. Do not accept this treatment. Just avoid the stress and go elsewhere. I'll be having my ultrasounds at Olive Branch in Rancho Cucamonga from now on. There are plenty of other places to get an ultrasound that won't treat you like this. PVHMC - you should be ASHAMED. read more

Today I arrived at 2pm with my daughter who is handicapped and in a wheelchair for a visit. The desk tell me her appointment was an 11o'clock appointment which I never would have booked. So far so good with this place. When making my first appointment with a Dr I was referred to through their urgent care, I was happy with the friendly customer service. On the day of my appointment, check in was easy and fast. Also got friendly service. I arrived early to fill our paperwork. They already had my insurance info from going to urgent care so that was nice not to provide it again. The nurse called me back around my scheduled time at 4pm. The nurse was friendly and was gentle when doing the vitals. I only waited maybe 5 minutes or so for the dr. I saw Dr. Tolentino. She came in and was warm and friendly. She introduced herself which was nice because I've had some new drs in the past that never did that. She asked me about my issues and why I was there. She seemed to care and listen to me and not ignore any of my questions or concerns. She spent at least 30 mins with me since I was a new patient. I felt it went well and definitely want to continue with her. She gave me what I needed and my prescriptions were called into the pharmacy of my choice right away. They were done before I even got home. Check out was easy and made a future appointment for a physical exam. Only bad thing is she books out pretty far for physicals so next appointment is not for another month. They do have later appointments (4 or 420pm) so that helps me with my work schedule. I had a bad experience here about 4 years ago and only just recently went back for the first time. I was a bit upset that they made me do another unnecessary (but required) "establishment of care" visit before my physical as it had been more than 2 years since my last. However, they ended up doing my physical on that same day because I didn't have much medical history to talk about (I appreciated that). I'll give 5 stars for the friendly and professional receptionist, PA, nurse, and phlebotomist I interacted with. However, I still find their system very archaic and redundant. They make you fill out gobs of paperwork that could all be done from home online, then ask you (verbally) most of the same questions you just filled out (do you smoke? etc), and make you schedule an entire extra visit to discuss this stuff. read more

I visited this location yesterday since I have Covid-19'-like symptoms. They have established an excellent protocol. All the procedures - intake, traige and medical evaluation - are done with the patient in the parking. Very impressed with the diligence of all. A simple request turned into a day-long task. I tried to convince the PA that CDC regulations do not require an annual chest X-ray, the clearance form I needed signed for work clearly says that in print, but she insisted on doing it. When I suggested a look at the website, she said she "Will not sign anything until I do the X-Ray". Honestly, I am a non-confrontational person, and I decided that since my goal is achieved, I need not fuss about it. But a month down the line, I got the X-Ray bill and it was for $720.00. Too much for an unnecessary thing! Thank you for your care, M.P., but I guess i will not return to this place in the future. read more

There should be the option to give zero stars. The staff at this location are extremely rude, especially Yanette at the front reception desk. She simply lacks interpersonal skills and is very harsh and rude; not welcoming or inviting to new patients in any way. There was only two other individuals waiting in the lobby, and I understand that you never know what is going on with patients in the back, however I sat for over an hour and a half all while listening to the staff sitting at the reception desk laugh and joke and Yanette say rude comments after answering the phone such as "oh what torture this is" or "I'm not answering the next call, I can't anymore". Isn't that what your job/role entails??? Flash forward to being called back, I am walked to a room and told to sit in a chair and not on the exam table (it made it seem like they couldn't be bothered to clean the table and put out new paper if I sat on it) then I sat in a room unattended to for 30 minutes and when a provider came in, he was short and in and out of the room in about 3 minutes. This place is horrible and they should not be allowed to provide patient care as they are definitely lacking in the "care" component. Horrible! read more

Update: a few months later and after a full recovery (I was better in about a month), I can say that Dr. Alvarez was still incredibly disrespectful, inconsiderate, and should not be helping people in need of compassion. I was able to find the medication I needed elsewhere and am thankful. If I took anti-depressants like he recommended, I don't even know where I would be now. I have been going to this office for 10 years and while the doctors, PA's and NP's are always professional, the follow-up is truly terrible. It is even difficult to get through on the phone to make an appointment. They NEVER call back even when patients are waiting for prescriptions or test results. I always have to call 2 or 3 times to get someone on the phone and then I never get the answers I need. I have a litany of examples that I cannot share here but this is no way to run a practice. read more

I have been a member of PVHMC medical center in Claremont since the time it opened. Dr Tolentino is my doc and she is great. The front staff are always kind and smiling. The waiting area is always playing Food Network (awesome). The rooms are always clean and sanitary. I have seen Holstein and the PA (Manesha) and they're all kind and listen. I really can't think of another doctor I would rather see, than Tolentinto! The wait times are always about on point. If you're there just for a nurse visit or vaccination, it's quick. Sometimes they can run a little over your appointment time, but when you see your own doc and they take extra time with you, you realize it's not a big deal, because you want a doc to spend extra time with you. The Milestones upstairs is AMAZING! As well as the sleep center. read more

What I don't love about PVHC is that phone calls to book an appointment or for appointment follow-up in my experience are usually not returned; if, however, I appear at PVHC, I'm usually able to resolve whatever matter quickly. read more

How is it that I come here twice and both times I have a negative experience? I only came in for a drug / alcohol monitoring test that is required by my employer. Seems simple enough, but they make it so difficult. My employer has had to call both times. Sophia at the front desk is very standoffish and not helpful at all. I even overheard Sophia say to her coworker that she processed me last time... then why the fight? I came in with a smile. I work in the medical field. I practice the golden rule. This review is for a US tech by the name of Donna in Imaging. This woman is beyond crazy, condescending, and rude. This place won't let you bring spouses in for imaging because of "policy" and no one ever tells you what that policy is. My friend went the day before me and brought her husband in right away just fine. Sounds like a made up policy to me. But if you are stuck with Donna, she will make you feel like you have had a taste of evil. Don't go in the room alone with her as your tech. I only wait about 3 minutes in the lobby, Dr. Larson sees me right away she does not have me waiting. I visited this center today and usually the nurses and doctors are friendly. Not today. Both the nurse and the doctor had zero bedside manner. They both worse surgical masks and I think that when most of your face is covered, you need to work a little harder at being friendly and personable. I waited over an hour in the examination room for the doctor and he didn't apologize (usually doctors do when they are behind) and he wasn't friendly at all. After being let go from a previous doctor because of health complications that she "did not want to get involved with" I was left to find a new doctor. Dr. Alvarez took me as a new patient. I have come here as a patient with private insurance and as a patient with Medi-Cal. I am appalled at the difference in treatment. If you're going to treat Medi-Cal patients differently just because you don't get reimbursed as much, then don't accept them. Absolutely atrocious. read more

I came here for physical therapy when a large lump in my knee impeded my ability to walk. They told me to do leg lifts for 3 months and I never improved. Finally an MRI revealed the lump was a tumor. A better-qualified physical therapist would have realized this instantly. read more

This center is clean and the staff are friendly. Everyone is professional and actually care for you. My PA doctor Dr. Patel is the best with her great attitude and professionalism. I always request her when I come in for any check up. It's also convenient for lab work you can walk next door to the urgent care, sign in, and the wait time is average around 5-10 minutes. This rating is solely based on the medical billing practices of this facility. All other services, staff, facility and treatments were top notch and efficient. My medical sleep evaluation was from 12/2014 yet I am still receiving threatening billings for 18.55 in Oct 2015. When I came to get this evaluation done I was quoted as having approx $115 co-pay from hospital, typical co-pay for doctor and my PPO was contacted for estimate and approval. Shortly thereafter, I started receiving numerous bills all saying it was for the services that insurance didn't cover. You cant reach their billing dept for someone to callback. No one calls you back and if you contact Pomona Valley they refer you back to facility. Then you're told its not the facility its the Doctor's billing. Its horrendous and I've paid every bill sent to me all totaling in the hundreds. Don't even begin the billing practices when you get the CPAP machine with separate company. There you cant purchase the machine outright, you have to pay monthly which was quoted at 8 p/mo but now paying 42.60 because insurance didn't cover. Its a full time job just to keep up their practices. Who do you even complain about this? read more

She was very kind, seemed interested in my problem and answered all the questions I had about this medical situation.
