We came out here with a few friends for something to do on a Saturday in August. I think I hadn't been here since I was a kid. Followed car directions and found it no problem. They have a dirt parking lot that was filling up fast. As we headed over I was noticing all the things they have to offer. They had mini golf course with the balls and putts out I think it was open? And free? Not sure. There were a board of rules to follow but I didn't notice it till we were checking out. It was a little confusing on where to start but we just walked in and went straight the the crops. They also had little trikes for kids to ride and a huge inflated strawberry jumping pad that kids were all over. We started from the back of the field at the bokchoy which we got a couple of. You should bring a knife to cut the vegetables. Don't know if they provide cutters if you don't bring your own. They had tons of plants growing. Several feet wide and who knows how long with rows of bokchoy, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, potatoes, and other things. We got bokchoy, one head of broccoli, and 4 pretty big Yukon gold potato's all for $5. We had carrots and other things growing in our garden at home so got minimal vegetables. Our friends got huge bags of carrots potatoes and other things. They paid around $30. Way cheaper than the store and guaranteed Alaskan Grown lol plus it's a great way to spend the day and experience something new. Not sure if this was the end or beginning or middle of the picking season but most crops were picked heavily on the beginning of the rows and you had to walk halfway down to find a plethora of picking options. Except for the carrots they had been picked over pretty well but still lots available. Most of them had several arms and people didn't want them. The potatoes were huge and had been tilled so you just pick them up off the ground, minimal digging required. The soil everywhere was very dry like they hadn't watered ever. Maybe they cut back when everything is pretty much grown. After you are done picking you stand in line to check out. We had to wait a little bit, like 15 minutes to check out because they were a lot of people there. They apologized for the wait time but it wasn't a big deal. They weigh everything then give you a price. I think they had price per pound posted somewhere but nothing was out in the open where you could see it easily. Overall I would definitely come back. We grow a lot of our own things in our backyard but lots of people don't have that option or don't want to. Fun place! read more

Pyrah's may be in the boonies (thank you Google maps) but is absolutely worth the 35 mile trek from Anchorage. Even with the cost of gas factored in, it's an excellent value, particularly if you pick a bunch to put up for winter. I got a massive amount of produce for $34. Honestly I've got my work cut out for me putting all this up. In Alaska we have a real problem finding affordable, quality produce. It was so refreshing to find Pyrah's wonderful selection of you pick items. Today I got rhubarb, kohlrabi, radish, red leaf lettuce, bok choi, and kale. Visited Pyrah's for the first time on a "snow day," Friday, for their Fall Harvest Festival Special Edition. Pyrahs is fairly easy to find. You take the Palmer backroad to get there. It feels like you're still in Palmer once you've arrived but apparently you're now in Butte. They had ample grass parking (similar to the parking at the state fair). I'm sure the rain helped make it not so packed but there was still a good amount of people in attendance. We were welcomed and encouraged to go inside the barn where carnival games were happening. My kids enjoyed that as well as the prizes. It was cool to see the stacks of hay. They had a DIY slide made of industrial materials that was super cool but unfortunately it was too wet for my kids to partake. There were a few other activities they couldn't participate in also due to the rain. My daughter enjoyed the trike? (or large tricycle). There wasn't much to look at, even the beautiful mountains that surround this place were hidden by the fog and clouds. Next, we went to the maze which was creative and fun. We also passed through the petting zoo and miniature golf area. All station attendants encountered were kind and helpful. In addition to free admission, the pizza, drinks, and candy apples were also free. How kind. We wanted to do a hayride but I think that ended early due to the rain. Lastly, I was hoping they'd have the bonfire going as it was cold, and I just love a good bonfire, but unfortunately not. I definitely plan to check out the U-Pick area of the farm during the summer months. This Fall Harvest Festival Special Edition was a special day for the disabled and their families or caregivers. I did not see a place where one could borrow a wheelchair or noise cancelling headphones as was advertised. Overall, this event would've been amazing had it not been for the rain. Luckily, we still had a good time. Im very grateful and appreciative they put on this free event. We need more events catered to the disabled here in Alaska, and I plan to support again, should they decide to do this next year (fingers crossed). read more

We went to their fall festival and it was SOOOO packed. We waited in line for 2 hours for ONE activity! Insane! So crowded that it was not even enjoyable! Less than impressed with this place and their lack of consideration for their guests. Do not waste your time/money! read more

There are so few reviews for the Butte area, so I thought I'd add the U-pick farm! This is one of the few places where you can do your own harvesting for a large variety of vegetables, including lettuce, radishes, bokchoi, cucumbers and more. Prices are very low and these people have been in the business for over 30 years. They originally started out as a church relief program back in the 80s.
