Travelers take note!!!! This is a hidden gem!!! The is a restaurant located inside the Eagle Hotel in Palmer. There is a street side entrance and an entrance located in the hotel lobby. It has a very casual diner feel with local artwork for sale decorating the walls. I can confirm 100% that the breakfast here is spot on based upon my personal experience. The staff are so incredibly courteous and attentive. We never had an empty water glass or coffee cup. They checked in with our table multiple times just to make sure that we had everything that we needed and that we were pleased with our meal. We ordered the waffles. I had the waffles with eggs and bacon. My partner had waffles with blueberries, eggs and sausage. We were not disappointed. I could not get over how incredibly perfect my bacon was cooked and crispy. I absolutely can't stand thin, sliced greasy and soggy bacon. Not here. This was some thick cut crispy bacon. The eggs were cooked perfectly and that waffle was so light it could have floated off of my plate. I would never have known about this hidden little spot without a recommendation. Also, when you enter through the lobby, you'll noticed there is a free book offering through an organization called Bright Lights. This is an amazing organization that salvages and organizes books to help increase literacy. I absolutely love books, and this was an unexpected discovery in the Eagle Hotel lobby. Are you from the South and you are looking for something that resembles it? Come to this place. This restaurant reminded me of home in a second. The bacon is crispy, the eggs were made to order, the potatoes were on point. I was hungry and my friends were waiting for me to go hiking. I came in and I was sat down quickly. The waitress took my order and I had my breakfast within minutes. I loved their bacon because it was crispy. The staff was very attentive and got me out as soon as possible. Food would be a 4 star. We shared a country omelette and added reindeer sausage to it. It was fully loaded and enough for two. The hash browns were cooked crispy! We were welcomed with a cheery hello from a waitress behind the cash register. It took about 30 seconds to find where she was calling hello. The service was extremely lacking! Food was served without silverware and the sourdough toast came much later, like half way into the meal. The ketchup bottle was nearly empty, so we requested another bottle. That was forgotten and we had to ask a second waitress for ketchup. I will say the waitress was attentive with a second Diet Pepsi refill. The restaurant has tables and booths that are nicely spaced. The table was clean. However, the bathroom which is located outside of the restaurant and down a hallway was disgustingly filthy. The toilets needed a good scrubbing! This is nice restaurant attached to the Eagle Hotel in downtown Palmer. It is centrally located on the main Street in Palmer. Both and table setting for many over 100. Good for tour groups and large parties. Basic American food with a variety of choices. I had the Philly Combo with homemade Spit Pea Soup, French Fries and unlimited unsweetened ice tea for $20.00. Excellent price in Alaska. The soup was delicious homemade with chunks of carrot, potato, onion and peas. Everything was cooked to perfection and not mushy or too blended in to the broth. The sandwich was served in a fresh soft long roll, filled with thinly sliced roast beef and fried onions, green pepper, mushrooms and topped with a slice of mozzarella cheese and served warm with a cup warm beefy sauce. The French fries were hot and crispy, well fried and not oily. I needed to take home half of the sandwich and fries so I asked the waitress if I could have a small cup of ajus to take home. She brought me a full cup of the favorable ajus. I offered to pay extra and she said it was free so I increased her tip. I would recommend this cafe for excellent home like food at reasonable prices and tasty. read more

The food is very simple comfort food, it's good, and you get a lot for your money. There is enough variety for most people. Where it falls short is the service. The two times I have been there lately the young ladies who are supposed to be waiting tables are spending more time behind the counter on their phones than they are waiting on customers. There was a lot of loud shouting in the kitchen the last visit and after about a 40 minute wait for a simple breakfast order I was told they were out of gravy. There were a lot of people who were looking around trying to get someone's attention to order or get water or coffee and the vibe got decidedly unhappy. There are other options for a nice breakfast or lunch in Palmer and I don't think I'll be back anytime soon read more

We did get some stares from staff and other customers but I understand Polynesians get quite a bit of attention (good and mostly bad) in Anchorage but everyone was nice. Food was decent. Party of 5 for yesterday around 11. Seated right away and given water as it wasn't busy at the time. A part of 8 came in after us and was seated nearby. They had their food before our orders were even taken! I had to go up to the counter to ask for someone to take our order, about 20-25 minutes after being seated. No apologies or acknowledgment at all, just a "she'll be there in a minute." The food was good but nothing special, and definitely overshadowed by the experience. I would not return. read more

Everything about this place is great! It has a wonderful little small time diner feel to it. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and the food came out quickly! I ordered the battered halibut sandwich and was immediately impressed with the flavors! The batter was perfectly crisp and flavored. The fish was fresh and flaky, the texture was perfect. I would probably ask for extra mayo next time for the sandwich to add some moisture but it is definitely something I would order again. My friend ordered a side of pancakes with their breakfast omelette and after having a bite I almost contemplated ordering some for myself. They are hands down the fluffiest pancakes I have ever tasted with a buttery flavor in the batter that was so pleasant. We came here because of the great reviews we saw. Our experience was a little different so I thought I'd take the time to review it. The atmosphere was airy and open, but reeked of the 90's. Old vinyl booths and tables for four are the standard fare. The waitress was very nice and did a good job. The problem was the food. The salad was a very sparse plate of lettuce with a few croutons. The dressing (homemade ranch) was runny and bland. I ordered the Rueben sandwich, and was shortly told they were out of Swiss cheese. I substituted American cheese, and the sandwich came on a bare plate. The sauerkraut was put on the sandwich still wet, so the bottom bread was soaking wet and falling apart. Not horrible, but certainly not 4 stars like the last review said. With just a little effort, the place could be vastly improved upon, but for now...I won't be back anytime soon. read more

Was in the area and wanted to check out this little diner spot. First impression it seems like a typical small town diner. Service is pretty slow.it took 10 minutes to get a menu, another 10 to get a water, 10 more to order and 30 for the food to come out. Not looking for fast food but this is crazy to wait an hour to get diner food. Her omelette and home fries were good, his eggs and pancakes were also. I had a burger and fries and while they were bad they weren't great. The 1/2 burger patty was one of those pre-frozen jobs cooked on a grill. Bun and toppings were both fresh. The fries were the pre-frozen type as well. Aside from the slow service this place could be better than average if they used fresh beef and hand cut fries. All in all a good spot to eat. read more

We walked into a diner in a hotel, you can smell the grill grease, place looked clean, not sure why but big space between kitchen and seating, almost big enough for a dance floor. It was a whirl wind of customer service, we had 1 person seat us, 1 to ask about our drinks, 1 brought our drinks, another to take our food order, 1 to pick up dirty dishes, 1 to refill my drink. But great service but we aren't sure who our waitress or waiter was. A local eatery, we hear all kinds of conversations while there. Table wasn't level, and so we had to keep our arms balanced on it or it tipped on way or another, staff said they try to keep them level but it doesn't work. Give me a piece of card board I could fix each one! SO CHECK YOUR TABLE WHEN YOU SIT DOWN! Full menu, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We had a skillet and a cheese steak with fries. One of us got a soup with order. Cheese steak was hot and very tasty, fries where coated perfect, Farmer's skillet was delicious and we forgot to take photos again. Complementary soap was perfectly seasoned and was also delicious. Only issue we had, none of the above listed staff, would refill my ice tea. I had to ask the bus boy to get someone to refill it, still was another 15 mins, we were about to go to register to pay our check when someone walked up with a pitcher of tea. Bathroom was in hotel and man's bathroom looked like it has been used last night rush and not cleaned We would go back there mainly for the food. Service was okay but nothing to write home about. I said, "please", to which she replied, "I don't work here but I can get you coffee." I guess I looked puzzled and a couple told us, "we've been waiting an hour since placing our order. Looking about, few tables had their food. We made the decision to leave, and several tables expressed envy that we were leaving. Nice looking place, but the objective is, I think, to serve food. Life changing experience. Walked in pretty hungry on a Sunday midday with low expectations, every other sit-down breakfast place in town had an hour+ wait. Our group of ten was seated immediately, the server was friendly but also organized, big selection, food came out fast, waffles were crispy, home fries were clearly made that morning rather than prepackaged, bacon was thick and juicy, not the shriveled up thin stuff you normally get, eggs over medium were done perfectly... Don't let the looks deceive you, this place does a sneaky good breakfast and takes it seriously. Recommend ordering the waffle with eggs/sausage/bacon and a side of home fries, butter/syrup/hot sauce, piling it all together and taking the stairway to heaven. Bon appetit! read more

Eight of us stopped for a late dinner after a busy day outdoors, hungry and tired. Very friendly staff, good recommendations when asked. Food was fresh and hot, drinks kept full. Soup from scratch, dipping sauce for Italian beef sandwich was a great addition not just powdered bullion, the sandwich was so good, great bread, heated in the oven to melt the cheese and crisp the roll, so good!. We had two very picky pancake lovers who rarely like restaurant pancakes loved these ones. The Jenga stack of wrapped silverware was a fun diversion. The family who operated and or own this diner are darling! They are super sweet! Seemed like a mother/son dynamic, but I'm not certain... either way, it was charming! The waiter was so kind and funny. My toddler daughter loved him. The manager/owner (seemed to be) was busy busy cleaning the entire diner. It was super clean. The service was good. Very family friendly, lots of regulars! My daughter's grilled cheese sandwich was as ordered and delivered first! It was fantastic. Very fresh and well cooked! The fries were hot and delicious. My California Chicken Salad was okay! The chicken was a weird texture. My husband's skillet was good! We both thought it could have used someone salt and more potatoes! Looks a lot like the Sunrise that used to be in Anchorage, sign and menu. Went for breakfast which is served all day. Pancakes were good and they warm the syrup. Bacon cooked as I ordered it. Friend got breakfast with ham, eggs, hash browns and biscuit with gravy. Potatoes a bit overcooked and no seasoning, not much flavor to the biscuit and gravy. Eggs need seasoning too. Came in and asked what we wanted to drink, said coffee and took ten minutes to get it and only because I walked to where they were standing and asked for it. Took another ten minutes to get creamer. We moved from a booth to the bar side and hoped for better service and it got worse. A server was sitting at the register getting caught up with cashing out RIGHT AFTER asking us "was there anything else you need?" And it was the couple near her that she was talking to that said I was trying to get her attention. LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE was being served or attended to but us. I don't like to pull the race card, but we (my girlfriend and I) were the only non-Caucasian customers in the place. Asked for more creamer while waiting for our food and I ended up going to an empty table to get what was there. Now the food. Ordered a Denver omelette and my girl ordered biscuits and gravy. My omelette was thin and barely held together and her order was barely edible without water per bite. I had to douse my food (omelette and hash browns) with hot sauce and ketchup for some kind of flavor. Might be a long wait at the Noisy Goose, but MUCH BETTER SERVICE AND QUALITY of food.
