Q-Zar brings back fond memories of eighth grade for me. I grew up playing Q-Zar in the Altanta area, where we produced some national champion teams, so I'm a little snobby about my laser tag. (I never played competitively, but it was cool to learn from those folks.) When I visited the Concord Q-Zar, I hadn't played in many years. My twenty-something friends and I felt a little old for the crowd there, but it was still a great blast from my past. I think we payed $25 for three hours' of games, which let us get in seven games or more. The package comes with some tokens to boot, though we barely had time to play games: we were nearly always in the arena. For the record: back in my day, we didn't have this silly rule about holding the gun with two hands. I'll have to learn to cover all over again! read more

Came here for my friend's birthday. It's been about 10 years since I last played. It was fun. 3 stars only because: 1. The games at the arcades (while you wait for the laser tag game) are pretty outdated, and some don't even work) 2. Q-Zar is a fun and cheap place for my friends and I to come and play laser tag whenever we feel like being children again. I feel that it doesn't get as much business as it should and that worries me! The battle ground is well-structured and has plenty of places to hide when trying to escape from your opponents. They do believe in safety precautions, so I appreciate the informative safety video we have to watch before each game. The equipment is slightly outdated IMO, and it would be nice to see them invest in new vests and guns. Apart from the laser tag, the arcade area is just whatever. But they do have a handful of games to play each requiring a certain number of tokens. read more

Just had my daughter's B-day party here with a total of 13 kids. We did their party package and it all worked out great. They held birthday presents for us, as well as our ice cream cake. When our party area was ready, they had pace settings ready, brought the presents to the area, brought over the pizzas we had pre-ordered, as well as our ice cream cake. Staff was very helpful, checking in on us a few times. For a 12 year old's party, it was organized chaos. Two laser tag games (our group had the game all to ourselves). I wouldn't describe Q-Zar as an elite facility, but it still delivers on great fun. They have very affordable pricing and package deals that include arcade tokens and rounds of laser tag. The laser tag facility wasn't the largest I've ever been in but it was carefully constructed to still have ample amounts of cover. Every single participant had a blast when I went. We were allowed a good deal of time in the rounds, and by the end of the game every one has worked up a sweat lol The Q-Zar staff were very engaging and helpful. And the venue served to be a fun filled environment. Like I said this isn't an elite facility, but with price and location in mind you can't go wrong. Q-Zar still delivers big fun. read more

I had a great experience at the Q-Zar in Concord. I came here for an adult birthday party with ~12 people. I bought a party package and the Q-Zar staff were very prompt and clear in their communications, both over email and phone. When we got there, they were helpful in storing our things behind the counter and the party room was all set up and ready to go. The laser tag itself is very fun, although the instructions could be a little more clear during the "briefing" stage, especially for first time players. The in-game judges were fine and not overly harsh. I got warned for jogging once, but that's about it. The equipment was in good condition and I didn't notice any significant smells of sweat/old gym. I'm a huge fan of dance games so I was glad to see they had two different versions. And even better, where they were placed and their volume level ensured you could actually hear the music, which is often a big problem. I used to come here every other weekend after the Q-Zar in Pleasanton closed down, a few months ago I was told by one of their shift leads that they were not going to sell me anymore "Public Games" and I'd have to either play on the Advanced play nights or not play at all, I don't enjoy playing with the tournament players as I'm nor competitive, I just come to have fun.. Apparently there was a game where an employee was on the same team as myself, in the end we won by quite a few points, the other team became angry and complained to the above mentioned supervisor. Apparently it becomes the customer's fault when the game Marshall neglects to split teams up, I was called an "idiot" and a "Jerk" because I did not divide the teams up... um, who's the one who works there? So the next game goes in, I literally did not even pull the trigger a single time, and sure enough I apparently get complaints that game as well, I mean, really? what were people complaining that I was LETTING them score points? yea ok, so now that none of this logic makes any sense I haven't been back since, I will more than likely go back in and talk with sean and Trish (the owners) and see what they think on the situation. read more

This is a type of fun that you just can't replace with many other things. Go here with a bunch of friends unless you want to play with a bunch of little kids and run into them. At seven bucks a game this beats go cart racing and mini golf in a financial way and comes just behind bowling, all of which are what make life awesome. This concord Qzar location is obviously run by local Concord kids but who else is going to work there? I have no complaints you get what you expect and the guns work and the vests work! True there are a lot of 10 year-old B-day parties going on at the same time as families or young adults are trying to play . . . which doesn't make for the best game dynamic. Also, the place seems as if it's staffed by a lot of temporary workers, so not great customer service. I did like that they had all 4 time crisis arcade games, but I wish it didn't cost a dollar to play the newest one. Q-zar! Arcade of great proportions. I came here mostly for the Dance Dance Revolution games (they have two machines), but I was surprised to find lots of other games and had a great time. The prices are of course, average, like most arcades. There are lots of games for kids and adults. My favorites are Initial D 3, Dance Maniax, Dance Dance Revolution, Time Crises, and Bust-a-Move. The staff there is pretty helpful, although I've had a few run ins with idiots there, they were nice nonetheless. My big problem is the kids. If you have kids or like kids, then this place is for you, but I am easily distracted by a bunch of little critters running all over the place. I also feel very out of place as a college student going there without a gaggle of kids strung behind me. It's also obnoxious to have kids running around you and screwing up your games (especially if you're playing DDR). Of course, that is a complaint to the parents more than the management. This is definitely a place that got a lot of business from me when I was living in the Concord area. I recommend it if you're looking for an arcade, a laser tag place, or a place to take your kids. read more

First time I attended a laser tag event here at Q-Zar. We were 11 players overall and did 3 games. It was fun, but since I was spoiled in live action paintball games with Sequoia Paintball in Los Gatos (unfortunately, they're closed), it felt lacking a bit. Paintballing in the mountains/forest boasted bigger space compared to the small space inside Q-Zar's building. One-sided enemy camps made it weird for me. Plus, the laser guns were a bit wonky. They didn't charge easily and they were mostly unresponsive during the game. Time was precious inside Q-Zar because the clock didn't stop while I paused to fix my gear. I guess, the good thing about laser tag = cheaper than paintball. You get unlimited charges in laser tag. Paintball means you get air if you spend more money. Perhaps, one can choose whichever is fun while the pockets don't cry. It was at least a great time spent with friends. read more

I came here with a group of 6 during a Saturday night, and there were enough people to play pretty nicely sized games, maybe about 18 people on each team. We got 2 games with 20 tokens, and it was pretty fun. The first time, I used a green gun and it was really difficult to recharge. There were also a LOT of rules, but in the end I just ran around trying to avoid getting shot and shooting people. The gun talks too much and there's a bit too much downtime I think, but maybe I just got shot too much. The laser tag place is decently big, and it's fun. There are pretty cool arcade games, standard basketball, shooting, slot machines, and driving ones, as well as this really cool DDR-but-with-hands game. It was fun! read more

I had a birthday party here for my 11-year-old son. Twelve people played, including a couple parents. They all had a good time. We got there a little early, and the staff was helpful in letting me know what would happen. Those of us who weren't playing laser tag sat outside and tried to watch the action on the monitors. But it was a little tough to see, and it was quite noisy as well so talking was challenging. But after one game, everyone regrouped for pizza and cake. The staff set things up in our party area, and they were efficient. The pizza was tasty too. Afterwards, some people went to play another game ($5 per person if you're there for a party) and the rest of us chatted and helped clean up. All in all, a successful party, well-organized staff, and everyone had a good time. It was affordable too. It was easy to make the reservation, and when I needed to order an extra pizza, all it took was a quick phone call. Definitely recommend this place for a fun indoor event. read more

I LOVE Q-ZAR!!! Q-Zar is an awesome arcade. Whenever I go there, I go straight to some of my favorite video games- Ms. Pac-Man and Dance Dance Revolution. But I don't understand why DDR SN (Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA) costs more than Dance Dance Revolution Extreme. Maybe because it has more songs than the other DDR. It is also a great place to have a birthday party at. I had my 9th birthday party at Q-Zar. They serve great pizza and awesome soft drinks. I also like laser tag. The room where we play is dark, which I like, and when I play with friends, it is very fun. read more

This may have just been the night, but we came out to play some laser tag but our games were pretty quickly ruined by a few guys who were trying way too hard and running around hiding their hit spots and camping around the spawn, ruining the game- also some kids just followed us around the entire time continuously killing us. Constantly disappointed with this place. Had my sons birthday here recently where I dropped a pretty penny on 12 kids playing two games of tag and several "fun cards" for the arcade. Word of warning - the $5 doesn't last long in their arcade. When I asked for some help getting the pizza on plates, the crew looked at me as though I was crazy. When I had plated all the pizza myself, poured all the drinks, one of these crew members finally came up to see if they could help. Perfect timing for there to be nothing left to do. Now back on a rainy day bc my son loves it. Not a single other person in here. They gave me a stack of coupons after the party and of course I have no clue where they are. Who gives paper coupons? And yet even though the same guy is here who's seen me in here for the party, for other play dates, he insists he needs the paper coupon. Did I mention there is no one in here? I have 2 7 - year olds excited to play and q-zar is basically turning down business. Oh and I have some kind of q-zar card that I thought was for games in the arcade. Turns out it was a season pass. When I said I purchased an arcade card for my son, he said it would have been a $100 charge. The manager, Jonathan asked for me to show him the receipt. Which I did. For $100. The season pass is $75. Even after I showed the receipt for $100, as well as the printed receipt for the $75 for the season pass, he refuses to give me the product I purchased. So I ask him 3 times to get the owner on the phone. Which he refuses. He hands me the receipt for the $75 season pass and I go to leave. He physically moves his squat large body in front of me. Mind you I have 2 7-year olds with me that are now a bit scared. So I guess the story is this- money hungry, terrible customer service, thieves at q-zar. Who then literally threaten me with physical demeanor when I ask questions to explain the thieving. read more

We went here for my nephew's birthday party and my daughter had fun playing videogames. They have a small party room for reserved birthday parties, a small arcade, and laser tag. Laser tag is always fun! And so is the arcade. But I think this place would do better with a bigger space. Add a nice food stand, and more videogames. read more

By far, the worst customer service I have ever experienced, by the MANAGER himself. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. A couple nights ago myself and 3 other people went to tryout laser tag because they were having the Monday night special. We get there at 8:50 pm and one of the employees tells us that the laser tag portion is closed ? On their website it says the place itself closes at 10? Might want to update that laser tag isn't available after 8:30! The employee apologizes and says his manager Jonathan is on the phone, and maybe if we discuss it with him he will let us play a round. We wait 25 MINUTES for him to finally get off the phone, in which he keeps periodically staring at us, and then turns away. There was no gesture of him ever coming to talk to us. After 25 minutes he comes over and I quote his words "why are you still here?" Excuse me? It seemed like he was ignoring us to get us to go away. Not to mention by his body language it appeared that he was on a personal phone call. We told him that his employee said if we talk to him we may be able to play a round. He simply laughs and says "well that isn't happening so you can just leave." We were very polite to him so there was not a reason to be so sneer towards us. We are speechless and cannot ever comprehend how he talked to us. We didn't expect anything from him but kindness and he couldn't even give us that. Already reported him to the corporate. If you go there don't expect any kind of "good" customer service. They treat you like absolute garbage . I hope they get a new manager because until then, we won't be back and we won't recommend them. read more

The Concord Qzar (aka The Entertainment Zone ) on 2295 Willow Pass Rd in Concord CA has one of the most hostile and rude staff I've ever encountered at any business establishment. I had such a horrible experience going there that I wanted to share this with you. If you want to just have a good time, go someplace else. The staff there are so rude that it you'll walk away shaking from the experience. They have no concept of customer service and enjoy talking down to their customers. They seemed rather annoyed having to walk out of their back office just to ring me up for a game. I arrived at 6pm on Wednesday 7/11/2007, and business was slow. I was finally playing a game after waiting for over an hour and a half to play. It was only a 2 on 2 game consisting of myself and a few regulars. Less then 2 minutes into the game, the manager Trisha (a large older woman who seemed to treated me rudely at the front counter earlier) approached me and told me "you're done- get out of the game". She claimed I was cheating by not holding my phaser properly. I was holding the phaser with two hands, holding each phaser grip with the palm of each hand. Apparently this wasn't good enough for Trisha. She claimed that because my thumb and index finger were not making contact around the front grip of the phaser, that I was in violation and that I was being pulled from the game! Has anyone ever heard of this? She wasn't professional or calm. She was shouting at me rather violently, aggressively posturing herself uncomfortably close to me. I politely protested, as I did not know that my finger and thumb had to be touching during the entire length of the game. She reluctantly allowed me to play, after drilling me out for allegedly ignoring the nonexistent PA announcement about keeping your thumb and index finger touching for the entire game. Obviously she was singling me out. I had no idea why, but I continued to play. This time I played very carefully, making sure to do absolutely nothing that can be construed as breaking any sort of rule. Well less then 3 minutes later she told me that I'm being kicked out because my trigger finger moved off the trigger during a dodge and this constituted cheating! Has anyone ever heard of anything so absurd? My finger can't leave the trigger during a game? Clearly i was singled out. Maybe it was my feminine side. Maybe it was the management not wanting an adult player there. I don't know. Trisha told me to leave arena and so i did so without making a scene, mostly in shock and disbelief. In the lobby I asked one of the other employees what just happened and why. I directed the question at him, not wanting to talk to Trisha again. But he didn't get it, and he summed Trisha, who began yelling at me saying "i explained it to you three times", and then she just started shouting at me. She kept saying the same line over and over again and wouldn't let me get a word in. "YOU HAVE TO KEEP YOUR FINGER ON THE TRIGGER, NOT PARALLEL TO THE GUN". Then i walked over to the rules sign over by the staging area entrance, which made no reference to such anal rules. I pulled out my cell phone to take a picture, and she told me to leave and not come back. The entire time my demeanor was very mellow and professional, but persistent in trying to figure out why she was singling me out. I didn't care about the rule she was using to kick me out of the game. I wanted to know why I was being treated like this. I politely questioned if it was me, or if the regulars didn't want me there, but she wouldn't hear any of it. She told me to leave, and then on the way out she told me not to ever come back. The Entertainment Zone isn't. It's a shame to see a rude sociopathic staff completely ruin what could be a good entertainment establishment. Perhaps they're disgruntled? Perhaps they've worked there so long that they think it's normal to treat their customers like this. The type of hostile attitude I saw there among the staff are signs of poor or non-existent management and complacent employees who are self-justified and even empowered talking down to others. I'm absolutely certain of is that I'm not their only victim. I'm sure the enjoy treating their customers like this. Unless you enjoy being yelled at talked down to by an immature staff, I suggest you avoid this establishment. If you want to play lasertag, try visiting the Scandia fun center in Fairfield that uses state-of-the-art Lasertron gear, or the LaserQuest in Mountain View. Both establishments have a friendlier staff who actually want your business. I am not affiliated with either of those establishments. Not the place to go for laser tag. They have this weird/old gaming system where you have to "reenergize" the laser guns after a certain number of shots which really takes away from the game. Instead of running around and having fun you have to go back to the base and recharge your gun. LAME. read more

This place is ok. Had a birthday party there last year which was frankly a rip off. $250 for three slices of pizza and two games of laser tag for 8 kids? No one helped do anything. I served the kids, did the cake, cleaned up, etc. We went again yesterday with a few friends. The kids had fun and were worn out, but none of their guns seemed to work right. These are 10 year old boys who know how to play laser tag and they all complained that the guns weren't working, My husband also played a round and said the same thing. My son who loves laser tag said he doesn't want to go back there. It was disappointing to have things not work, especially for the price. And some of those arcade games??? Our staff came here for the team-building portion of our mid-year retreat recently and people seemed to have fun. The laser tag system worked pretty well, and the maze wasn't too bad - the space felt pretty big, with lots of nooks and alcoves to hide, but was small enough that it wasn't too hard to find your way back to your base... or the exit. The arcade section was fun, but would benefit from some more diversity of games. And particularly during these colder winter months, some cubbies or lockers or someplace to stash coats would have been nice. Overall though, it was a good experience and clearly a fun place for a party. read more

I use to come here all the time in the 8th grade to play lazer tag. One time I was running and gunning all over the place and this little kid came flying around the corner. We didn't see each other coming and we were both clearly violating the no running policy so we smashed into each other. This kid was way smaller than me so he flew back kinda far and laid there on his back. He started crying in this really high pitched squeal and flopped around like a fish out of water. He was on the opposite team so I shot him in the chest and scored an easy point. I ran to one of the referees that roam the battle field to let him know there's a man down in the middle of the arena. I showed him where the little boy was and the kids father was holding him and he tells the ref that his son is ok and they are going to keep playing. The dad wasn't around when I bulldozed his son so the only people that knew what happened were the kid and my self. I'm Scott free, w00t. The ref and I both nodded at the father and I hid around a corner. I watched as the father took his son to this little hiding spot off to the side so he could try and calm his son down since he was still pretty shook up from getting cross checked into the boards. I followed them to their little hideout and the father, completely oblivious of the war going on around them, just sat there on one knee trying to stop his son from crying . Seeing the golden opportunity that has been laid before me I open fire on both of them but never giving up my cover. Whenever you get shot, the vests that you wear have this built in vibrator mechanism that goes off and it vibrates your tummy. Every time I shot the kid his crying became louder and louder from the tummy vibrator in his vest. I did this for the remainder of the round which had to have been 5 minutes or so. The kid never stopped crying and I got the highest score I had ever gotten in my short lazer tag career. read more
