I used to go to this coffee bar all the time years ago when my husband worked in that area and it was exquisite! The owner is SO nice and pleasant to talk to. I was sitting at the coffee bar and he asked me if I've ever had Turkish coffee before and I said no, so he gave me a cup to try and it was the most delicious coffee I've ever had. I have tried Turkish coffees in other places since then and the one I had at Qahwa is still hands down the best coffee I've ever had. Overall, great location, great coffee and the owner being a very nice person is also a huge plus because you always feel welcomed in. On top of that, there's a really cool bank vault inside the coffee bar which is awesome for getting cool pics! read more

This coffee shop in Downtown Memphis serves up an excellent hot mocha. It's also fairly reasonable in price. I think a bottle of water was under 2 bucks. Back to that hot mocha... it was rich and creamy and I enjoyed it! The staff was friendly and it looked like a cool place to hang out with the seating in the vault. I had to get back to my hotel for a meeting, so I didn't stay. Apparently the name is where the word Coffee originated from... It's been a minute since I've raved about Qahwa so.... Run... don't walk.... Go straight there... and order the turkey sausage and cheese croissant. It is incredible and they bake them fresh daily. Recently, they added a fresh baked cheese danish croissant and it is also delicious. Fred and Sandy are wonderful people, they get to know their regular customers, and create a really welcoming environment. My favorite Saturday afternoon coffee shop. Coffee is good, menu is simple and customizable. My go to's are memphis mint and mississippi mudslide. This coffee shop is really chill on Saturday's, friendly service, great conversations and they have a bunch of games. I've enjoyed most of their breakfast items- only critique I'd give is to ask for the sausage croissant to be warmed up longer (sometimes it cold in the middle). read more

Quaint small business located on Main Street in downtown Memphis. I read other reviews about this place that I came across while searching for local places to find a good breakfast while visiting. Small, cute, coffee bar downtown. It can get slow because there is only one person working, but he is so funny and welcoming. There are a few couches and tables to work in. In the back there's a vault with a table inside. Super cool! I got a tea latte with no syrup. It was pretty good. Overall it was a good place to stop to catch up on work in between meetings. read more

This was first visit but not my last. I had a great experience upon walking inside it smelled amazing. The scents of the coffees was breathtaking. The store is quiet, but, spacious but very relaxing. Not to mention there was not a lot of people. The ambiance is great. I asked the owner to surprise me? He made me a banana chocolate latté with foam, expresso and chocolate drizzle. It is to die for. Today I stopped by Qahwa coffee for the first time and immediately fell in love! It sits right at the corner of Main and Adams (enter on Main), in the same building as Claridge House. I'm not a fancy coffee drinker, so I stuck with my normal order of black coffee and added the breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was a stuffed crossiant roll, but I ate it while driving and couldn't take a picture Both were tasty. They also have a nitrogen bar (and Replenish Kombucha!!), but it won't be available again until after the first of the year. Qahwa is perfect for working outside of the office, or a game of chess while you sip a warm beverage. I'm looking forward to making this one of my regular stops. read more

This is one of the coolest coffee shops in downtown Memphis. Apparently the place used to be a bank branch before, so instead of removing the vault they used it as a private dining area, offering probably the most original coffee experience you can get! Their Turkish coffee is amazing; flavored with cardamom and other spices, and heated in the sand the traditional way. Their chicken salad sandwich is one of my favorites, made with cranberries and walnuts, and served in a croissant. The young lady barrista is super friendly, making the experience even better. It was love at the first sip of the South Main Mocha! This drink is so delicious. It has just the right blend of coffee, whipped, cream and whatever other goodness is put into it! You can get it warm or iced. I also had a grilled cheese sandwich. It is so delicious and only $2.75. I loved the crispy bread and the sharp cheddar cheese. You really get bang for your buck. For the side I just got a bag of chips. The food and drink was great, but the part that stuck with me the most is the homeliness of the atmosphere. The cashier greeted everyone by name and knew what they wanted to eat and/or drink. She was kind and attentive to all guest. On top of all of that, it is the perfect work space. They have a cozy couch/lounge area. I sat in the window area where the view is so amazing. I think I've found a go to spot for sure! read more

We're enjoying a staycation, so we are being intentional about patronizing local places that we'd previously not discovered. Hubby and I decided to wander in for his birthday coffee. I love that this is a Turkish coffee shop in the heart of downtown Memphis. Even as a coffee addict myself, there is still a lot that I'm learning. Like how the word "coffee" wasn't in the English language until the 16th century and that the word has middle eastern origins. I present you Qawha. I ordered the Qawha Signature and hubby got the Mississippi Mudslide. We both agreed that it is phenomenal coffee. It's definitely a must-try for the coffee aficionado. It was a great decision to try this coffee shop and we will surely return. COVID MEASURES The owner served us and was wearing a face mask. They were super busy due to a large event at the convention center but they were still quick and honest about how long things would take. I had their smoothies which was so yummy. My husband and I came here on Friday THE 13TH!!! We were on a roadtrip back to Georgia and needed some caffeine for the road so we found this cute little coffee shop. The lady working here was the SWEETEST! She was so high energy, happy, and very inviting. I could have stayed in there talking to her all day haha. I got a frapp and it was amazing. It had just enough sugar that I needed... probably even a little bit more than I needed haha. The place used to be a bank so they have a vault door and it looks SO COOL!! It doesn't move tho so don't try because you'll be there for a while. The restroom was very clean and I normally hate using public restrooms! Also - masks are required and everyone was wearing one at the time so I def felt safe as far as the COVID precautions go.
