As I'm from out of state, I was concerned about my dental insurance & I didn't have my card with me. Her knowledge and expertise is amazing as she was able to obtain my insurance information and details of my plan. Dr. Tina Feng and her assistant, Marlene, are also amazing. They were gentle during the examination. They gave me the pros and cons of how to treat the cracked tooth from a conservative approach to a root canal if needed. I didn't end up requiring a root canal but they prepared me for the procedure in the event it was the recommended treatment upon examination. I elected to have the tooth fragment reattached and they did a wonderful job. Numbed me well and I didn't feel a thing. I can't express enough just how wonderful they are. It still hurt, but as time went by, it felt better. The dentist is extremely sweet, helpful, and she made me realize a lot about my oral habits that I was not aware that I was doing. The receptionist and staff is outstanding, as I watch and monitor the whole staff just because I don't trust to many people with my kids. Dr. Koo came out, introduced herself and asked if I had any questions, concerns -which I did- once we were done discussing my concerns. She approached my kids and they very calmly waited to gain her trust. Dr. Koo explained what procedures she was going to perform and how she was going to approach each task(s) in detail. Such a lovely experience. Both of my kids had a great experience here. Their ages are 13 and 9. Since, I have lousy insurance, her staff gave us the best price point (for 3 fillings - hassle free).

So I thought so highly of Dr. Smith that I referred a few ppl - but those ppl didn't turn out to have as great of an experience with her. The problem, I think, is she's not very business oriented. Which is a good and a bad thing. The good - when I needed a mouth guard, she went over the cost with me and gave me other options. She really didn't want to charge me for something I would have trouble affording. I appreciated that, and most doctors wouldn't have done the same. The bad - You'd sometimes wait a bit to see her. Also, some of her support staff wasn't great nor very passionate about dentistry, from the receptionists to the assistants - Connie's mom and the one great, main assistant excluded- (Darryl/ Jessie? can't recall his name). He was top-notch though. Dr. Smith will draw you pictures of your teeth and show you how to floss properly. She'll sit and explain concepts so that you really get it. She also made a veneer for one of my teeth, which looks amazingly natural. Also, as a side note, she goes to The Amazon every year and provides free dentistry to the village she visits. I just really think that that's something special, and if that meshes well with your value system, then I think you'll really like her as your dentist.

We prepaid their annual in house plan for our 3 children (7, 4, 2) - $150/child for a total of $450. The in house plan was supposed to cover 2 exams, 2 cleanings and x-rays for the year. Unfortunately, our visit didn't go well. The office apparently isn't equipped with an x-ray device small enough for children's mouths. The technician accidentally hurt the inside of my 7 year old's mouth while attempting to get the x rays. This unfortunately upset him and the tech prepared a topical numbing agent for his cleaning (this seemed crazy to me as I have never hear of using a topical to make a cleaning "more comfortable" as she described it). I was very surprised this was prepared without asking me if it was ok. Maybe they would have asked prior to applying it, but it was locked and loaded so to speak. The dentist then explained that he had 3 cavities to be filled (in front of him) which caused him to get even more upset. I had him calmed down and she mentioned referring us to an orthodontist where they can determine if he needs braces. This sent him in to a crying freak out. Upon which she suggested we wait to do his cleaning until he's under nitros with his cavity filling. We scheduled the next appointment and they said they'd contact me with pricing to fill the cavities. This kiddo has seen a dentist twice a year since he was 3 years old and has NEVER even been nervous. They were unable to x-ray my 4 year old because "her mouth was too small" for their equipment however she did receive her cleaning. My 2 year old received a cleaning and no x rays due to his age. I asked the desk clerk what the plan would be moving forward regarding getting x rays for my 4 year old and my very soon to be 3 year old for his next visit. She said she would speak to the dentist about maybe ordering a smaller device. After discussing the experience with my husband we decided this was not a good fit for our kids. My husband called and left a message to discuss canceling our appointment and requested a partial refund for the services paid for and not rendered (since we wouldn't be returning for our 2nd set of semi-annual check-ups). The next communication was to call me with a voicemail telling me the price of the cavity filling procedure, making no mention of the message my husband left. He called once again and left a message. The office staff attempted to reach him but he didn't answer so she called me. This is long so I'll summarize: they told us we were due zero refund since, had we not done the in house plan, our services would have been more than what we had paid for the year a la carte. She even sent me a link to a website to "educate me on fair pricing for dentistry." I did not expect a full refund. I would have been satisfied with any effort to refund a portion of the prepaid services. Considering we received less than 1/2 the services promised to no fault of our own, I was shocked they have refused to refund any of our money. They only offered to conduct the cleaning when I come back, however there was absolutely no was I was taking my son back. He was TERRIFIED. I chose to take my son elsewhere for his cleaning (of which I had to pay for again) and was told he only needed 2 fillings and no need to consult an orthodontist at this point. He was so scared from his prior experience, he couldn't stop crying. Again, he has never shed a tear in a dentist's office. Thankfully we chose a SPECTACULAR pediatric dentist and he was able to completely turn it around and my son was all smiles when he got his fillings done. I would not recommend this office for children or anyone else for that matter due to their business practices.
