But, the microwave fixed it right back up. The service was impeccable, I mean I picked it up. "Popping collar" hehe. However, they're not looking for repeat business with their policies. Ordered orange chicken and asked for lo mien rather than rice. $5 up charge. Everything was an up charge. I got up charged enough that my takeout for one was $25. For the one entree. I dealt with the owner or someone who seemed in charge. I'm not asking for any restaurant to give away food. Before speaking to you and considering the previous reviews, I will tell you, I was born on an island that is 100 miles by 35 miles and even though I am that small, some dishes vary according to the region. So imagine how many variations in food there can be from China being such a large country. This place has great food and they prepare it very quickly. For us we never eat in here. It's one of those places where you can pop in had get a great to go meal if you are too busy to cook. The place is set up for a quick to go experience so it's not really a place to take a date. It's just a place to get good quality Chinese food quickly for a reasonable price. I usually frequent my favorite Chinese spots but this time I decided to try someplace new. I ordered what I thought was Singapore noodles and steamed pot stickers with 1 egg roll. I did not enjoy any of the food, for some reason the pot stickers did not taste fresh and had a weird taste to them. The egg roll was not worth $1.70 and the noodles had no veggies, just noodles and the shrimps looked old so I didn't eat them but at least there were big. We have been trying to find a good take out Chinese place close by. I saw this place on Yelp so placed an order. I got the General Tso Chicken, Pan fried dumplings and House Lo-Mein. It was so bland ! The lo mein wasn't the normal lo mein noodles. They were more like linguini noodles. I had to add salt and soy sauce to have any flavor. The general Tao chicken was very dry with no flavor as well. The dumplings were a while different texture than normal. Again, no flavor . I had high hopes for this place. I figured since it was in the Kroger strip center it had to be good in order to be able to afford leasing that space. I should've known when I walked in. All the chairs were turned up on the tables meaning they obviously never had any business. The best place I've found is 888 but was just trying to find somewhere closer. The local chinese takeout place that my sister goes to for the most part when her and her family eats out in the Houston area. We scraped together dinner on my way back from the airport. It's in a strip mall near their house. My niece ordered beef with broccoli and I went with shrimp lo mein. Everything was fresh and alright tasting. I'm actually intrigued. I know this is Pan American Asian food. They also have some Thai items on the menu which spices things up. But the lo mein came out in actual thick wide noodles parallel to the size of I'd say linguine. When I'm used to seeing it as say spaghetti noodle sized. It was a first for me seeing this and it didn't make the dish worse by any means. I was just intrigued why the lo mein noodles weren't actual lo mein. Lol. The sweet and sour shrimp was over cooked and rubbery the sauce was very thin where it's usually a thicker consistent. The egg roll was was also over cooked. The soup was good. I don't know if the guy taking order messed up or the cook but first of all the steamed rice was steamed mush. The shrimp in vegetables but use garlic sauce instead didnt happen. Had it delivered, and it was pretty quick! Crab rangons were good, just standard. The shrimp sticks were...interesting. Longer than I expected. The shrimp was good though. The spring rolls were just ok. Kung pao chicken was good. Again, standard. But the chicken was good, not fatty. He got the happy family...he wanted more scallops. But he said it was pretty good. The pics and the rating of this place looked good so I checked it out. Located in a nice shopping center with Kroger. I found a spot right in front to park also. The interior of the restaurant was small but nice. Was seated and waited on very fast. The waitress was very fast and drinks and food and answered all my questions I had. 1st I had egg drop soup. It came hot and with fried wontons that I normally always have to ask for so big plus. The soup was good. Thick but was lacking the chicken broth flavor I like. I'd rate this the 3rd best version of this I've had so still worth eating and I'd order it again. Crab Rangoon came out next. A+ 2nd best ones I've ever had sweet and crunchy and you could tell there was crab inside of them. Beef lo mein had an odd flavoring in it. It was not bad and I and I took it home for left overs and will eat it all but I don't think I'll order it again. I also got pork fried rice. It was good. I liked it and had large pieces of pork. I rarely write a review but had after experience terrible food. We asked for Mongolian beef, meat was stale and filled mostly with onions and less meat. We ordered fry chicken wings, there was no flavor found out it was frozen wings just dumped in the fryer it was just terrible !!! The tempura shrimp was not what we ordered on the menu not the same on the picture and the service was rude. Except for Jayden she was treated bad by the cook who was loud and nasty to her. After reading the reviews I decided to eat dinner here. I came around 7pm and there wasn't anyone else eating inside, I assume everyone prefers take out or delivery. We obviously got sat right away, and the employees got our drink and food orders right away. I ordered the crab ragoon as an appetizer. It came out quickly and was very good. I'm used to ordering the one from pei wei which is what I was expecting. This one was creamy and white with small crab chunks. For the meal we ordered shrimp fried rice and general tso's chicken w/ steamed rice. This also came out very quickly. Both were very good! The rice had had eggs, chives and onion in it. The shrimp were plump and pretty well cooked. The chicken came out on a plate separate from the steamed rice. Just like one of the other reviewers had said, BIG chicken chunks filled with chicken. Usually when I order something like this is all breaking and no chicken but this was just the opposite. The sauce was different than other general tso sauce. In a good way! I use Yelp when traveling and I tend to gravitate toward Chinese restaurants when I'm on the road. Don't know why. This is one of those reviews that I'm typing from my hotel room - as I eat. QQ Star China Cafe was my first choice for delivery, then my second choice ... then my first choice again when the other place didn't answer the phone. Service - The lady who took my call wasn't certain that they delivered here (less than a mile away), but she asked the driver while I was on the phone and he gave her the thumbs up. Delivery time was about 30 minutes. Driver came directly to my room with the goods. He was polite and professional. Food - Hot & Sour soup is my thing and this leaves a lot to be desired. Sure, the stock looks rich and there are strands of egg, tofu and wood ear mushrooms, but... There's no sour and the only hot comes from an abundance of white pepper. If this soup was made from chicken stock, it was extremely weak stock, because I'm tasting H2O here. Lots of it. This soup is a fail, as far as hot & sour soup goes. The egg roll was delivered hot and fresh (like everything else), and it's just blah. Very similar to the frozen versions that you buy at Costco or Sam's. Edible? Yes. Good? In a McDonald's sort of way. If they're rolling these at QQ Star, I'd be very surprised. Heavy ginger and black pepper. Not what an egg roll from a Chinese restaurant should taste like. The steamed (pork) dumplings, unlike their egg roll brethren, are good. Nice al dente on the outside and an excellent balance of pork, garlic and cabbage on the inside. Warning though: the dipping sauce is heavy on Worcestershire. This is a first for me. It's not bad, but totally unexpected. Since when do Chinese restaurants use Worcestershire? Now, to the one thing I truly was looking forward to - the Eggplant in Szechuan Sauce. Absolutely divine. The eggplant is cooked perfectly and the quasi-sweet sauce envelopes it beautifully. Someone knows his way around eggplant, and if I lived here I'd be a regular customer. But I wouldn't order the hot & sour soup. Nor would I order the eggrolls. The dumplings? Sure, they're good but they can save the dipping sauce for a chicken fried steak. I'm giving this place three stars on the service and the eggplant. Without those, this would be a one star place, in my opinion. read more

Hands down beat chinese food I've had in Houston. Everything I've eaten has been fresh, flavorful (no muted flavors, different tastes between sauces), and crispy (no over cooked veggies here!). When I'm not in the mood to cook, and tired of other places. I like to order delivery from this spot. You will usually get your food 15-20 mid easily. I really enjoy the Kung Pao chicken. You can ask to make the dish as spicy as you want. My boys like the sweet and sour chicken. Dinner portion is a large to go box and rice in a separate container. Also their steam white rice is the best compared to other Asian restaurants. Not dry and hard like Panda Express. My few complaints are I'm not a fan of their beef dishes. The texture throws it off for me. All the soups wonton, egg drop .. taste the same as all the other places. I also don't like the use of big chunks of dry battered chicken for their Orange, General , and Sesame chicken. I've noticed this trend with a lot of Asian restaurants. The cookie cutter aspect of some of their dishes is why I give this place 3 stars. But this doesn't mean this place isn't good. It's just that I've had better chicken battered fries and sauces dishes. Ordered sweet and sour chicken.... Got half burnt left over sweet and fried pork shrimp and chicken thrown all together ....
