Tru Tankless water heater, after finished install
    Adam S.

Day 1 Cheapest quote we could find. Gave all info to their secretary. December 21: Arrived to do the job with wrong info about job that we provided to the receptionist. Glad we were there and spoke to them prior to starting. They started at 8am, finished the job at 9am and waited here until 3pm for APS to arrive to turn on the power. Not necessarily their fault, but they are scheduled to come back tomorrow to do more work, so why not just do more work (?). Leaving on day 1, they said they were late to another appointment "by over two hours." Day 2 Arrived to day 2 of job with wrong information about what we wanted (again). Glad we were there and spoke to them prior to starting. Electrical company refuses to call the plumber so they can work together about the day 2 job. Plumber refuses to call the electrical company. So we're playing phone tag between these two companies about scheduling. Both companies told us they'd work it out themselves. Had to reschedule day 2 because Electric company didn't have the correct size wire. Day 3 January 18: Rescheduled day for both companies. Electrical company arrived and got to work by 7:30am. Quail Electric called at 8am to RESCHEDULE due to the water heater not yet arriving (they've had since November to order it). Quail was scheduled to be here so the electric company can do their job this time. Quail agreed to send someone out - thank goodness. Day 4 Quail Plumbing arrived on day 4 (January 19) to finally do the work they were supposed to do on day one (December 21). After an hour of work, the contractor stated he did not have enough pipe I need to run to get more. He also wanted to know how he was supposed to finish the job that he supposed to know how to do. He wanted the electrician to come and guide him through the process of hooking the water heater to current. We informed him that the electrician stopped by on day 3 (Jan 18) and Quail Plumbing said "they would be able to hook the water heater up to current themselves." Obviously not. AVOID THIS COMPANY. Just when I thought we were all finished with this company, we got a call from the electric company wondering if the plumber "ever did turn on the DIP switches." We were puzzled, went out to the water heater, and the electrician walked us through how to check. Nope. The plumber didn't do that either. FFS. Currently just waiting on the bill, going to see if they took off money for requiring the electrician to come back out - at which time they could have asked about the DIP switches. Plumber had it set at 160 but our breakers can only handle 100 so if the full power was used, it would have blown a breaker. Post - Work Tub water doesn't get hot unless we slow the flow of water. Takes longer to fill but it gets hotter. At full flow, water doesn't get any warmer than 102°. Showers get as warm as 113°. Takes a full 25 minutes to fill the tub with the spout on half open. The bill was finally received on March 18 (58 days after work was finished), and they did NOT initially credit us the $160-180 for the electrician coming back out like they said they would. After a call to Katrina in the office, they did work it out and honor it. We think Katrina is the only thing saving that company. We hope they are paying her well. Overall, this is an absolutely ridiculous company that we would NEVER recommend to anyone and in fact, would go out of our way to try to talk people out of using.

    YAY MURKY WATER. Thanks Quail!!
    Nancy L.

If I could give ZERO star to this company, I would! DO NOT BOOK W THEM, you will regret it. Unless you want to pay hundreds of dollars just to have cloudy/murky water and get YELLED at by the manager, Maggie, then by all means.. book with them. I am so livid. I have never dealt with such an unprofessional company and individual before. They were late to our appointments several times and instead of giving us a courtesy call, they just left us waiting. There were multiple occasions that we had to call wondering if they were coming. Not even once did they apologize. When I mentioned this to the manager, Maggie, she responded with "This is the service industry and that is how it is!" WAIT, WHAT?! So since it's a service industry you can just be late and not apologize or take responsibility for it?! How appalling! We all don't like our time to be wasted and I can't sit there forever wondering if the plumbers are going to show up for the APPOINTMENT. All I wanted was an apology and a courtesy call. Besides the horrible manager and customer service, our water heater and shower weren't fixed. We were charged hundred of dollars for them to fix our hot water and shower issue but ended up with murky water instead. When I inquired about this with Maggie she did not offer a solution but instead YELLED at me saying "I AM NOT GOING TO REFUND ANY FEES." I get it. But did you have to YELL at me?! I've never had such a manager be so rude. Oh, right, it's the "service industry, it is what it is" right? You can yell at customers and be late to appointments right?

I cannot say enough good things about Tim! We had an unexpected plumbing emergency with water…read morecoming through our downstairs ceiling from our upstairs shower, and he was at our house in less than an hour. Tim quickly diagnosed the problem, explained what was going on, and had the repair taken care of right away. He even connected us with a water restoration company, who was able to come out the same day to address the water damage. On top of the incredible response time and service, his pricing was extremely affordable -- honestly much less than I expected for an emergency call with such a fast turnaround. Having water suddenly coming through your ceiling is incredibly stressful, and Tim made the whole situation feel manageable from the moment he arrived. Fast, knowledgeable, honest, affordable, and genuinely helpful. We will absolutely call him again for any future plumbing needs and would recommend him without hesitation!

I was optimistic about this company because of good reviews on Google and Yelp and Nextdoor. While…read morethe cause of my leak seems to be resolved (at least for now) it did bother me that I took the time to ask several times with the dispatcher "Taneea"(sp) and she said there was no fee to diagnose and I kept asking are you sure because in order to see where the leak is coming from my bathroom upstairs from the shower and where it settling we need to look at the pipes underneath where the drywall is and that involves cutting the ceiling drywall. And I asked her again several times if there's any charge for leak tracing or anything she was leaving out just to look and see before repairing and she said no, there's no diagnostic charge. They get here and tell me it's gonna be $125 just to cut the drywall and I just don't understand how there can be such a disparity between what I verified by phone and what I was being told now. And even if I give them the benefit of the doubt that the dispatcher was mistaken (though that's something very strange for a dispatcher who works for and represents a company to say, if not true) the fact that she did tell me that clearly, you would think to keep a customer they would stand by their own word, so not a great first impression. I still paid them $455 to change the cartridge in my shower, but they would not take five or ten minutes to cut up two 6"x6" holes in the drywall and look inside to see if there's any other extensive damage or leaking. I may just leave it for now and keep an eye for any signs of staining or moisture rather than deal with drywall repair. I still will inspect around the electrical where the ceiling fan canopy is and remove it from the ceiling to see if there's any water damage to the fan and light fixture or if it can be salvaged and still works once all is dry and I can restore power to the room. But they refused to look for any signs below to ensure there were no other signs of a leak unless I paid more. Another thing is with a large hole behind the shower faucet escutcheon where the leak occurred what's to keep another cartridge from failing and leaking right down into the room below and getting into the electrical and drywall and ruining another ceiling fan? I wish they'd have taken the time to tell me how to seal off that wall behind the faucet handle or given me suggestions but they just kind of did their job and left. They didn't offer me any advice or tips to prevent this again or set my mind at ease, and taking the time to do that would have made me feel more "taken care of" and built a rapport as a new customer. They just wanted to do the job I asked and go. So while I have no other complaints so far, they didn't go the extra mile or make me feel reassured at all for such a serious issue. It was just a "job" to cross of their list and not spend a second longer than necessary to show, discuss or reassure.

Beware! Appears that this "locally owned company" was purchased by a private equity group (Flint…read moreGroup is the platform company with General Atlantic being the private equity firm). We ultimately paid way too much for a basic 50 gallon hot water heater swap (bundled price of almost $3000). I was out of town and my wife was busy with work when this happened. We had used Bumble Bee Plumbing in the past and trusted them. That trust has been broken and will never return. My wife left a Google review. There was a response posted as "response from the owner" which left a phone number of 602-813-0298 to call so we could speak with their "manager" to address our concerns. I tried to call that number twice...it's been disconnected! Do your research, get multiple bids and verify that the company you are calling is truly LOCALLY OWNED and has not been rolled up under some private equity structure. We have all seen countless stories about how private equity could care less about the customer and how they leave a trail of destruction and debt in the end. It's largely about profits, margins and EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization). This is the valuation metric that's referenced (with a multiple applied) when they sell. In most cases, that's ultimately ALL PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS CARE ABOUT! It's a sad yet not surprising story on the fleecing of America! All I can say about Bumble Bee Plumbing is my experience was very different this time and it appears that since my last time using them, private equity has gotten involved. I'll let you draw your own conclusions! Would love to see a customer advocacy/awareness story on one of the local news affiliates about how private equity has consolidated so many previously locally owned trade businesses (plumbing, HVAC, electrical). This might be a good starting point for that type of story.
