Bend RV Resort to Cathi's Place, a tale of two parks!…read more Bend RV had every imaginable amenity you could want; it had the feel of a five star hotel. But it lacked one thing you could tell that the personnel running the park didn't really seem to be involved with the guests. Think Biltmore servants with there own stairs and passage ways so the guests weren't disturbed. Then we went to Cath's Place in Hines/Burns. It was a Saturday and she came out a greeted us like we were old friends. Cathi will try and greet all her guests, but she has a postal job that requires her to be gone 4 hours a day. She also works on all her equipment herself, while making her little slice of earth come alive with flowers and amenities. She has plans to expand but that will have to wait until she has the time and money to do it right. What I witnessed on Saturday night around nine, we were taking our dogs out for the last time before bed. People were coming to her park broke down (broken water hose) and they came to the park in their tow car, she stayed with them until the wrecker came and set their coach in place and hooked up. When I remarked that she went above and beyond the call of duty. She said, "That's what people do for each other."

Very strange experience. We booked a week vacation at Silvie's in our Super-C RV with the silver…read morepackage to enjoy the food, the grounds, and golf each day. We drove over 7 hours in our RV for this destination and we were excited for the experience. The price was expected to be between $4,500 and $5,000 for the week. We expected that to include the basic necessities like hookups for power, water, as well as little luxuries like WiFi, access to the ranch, rounds of golf each day, and food and beverage. We were not expecting to be boondocking (using our own propane, diesel generator, and our own water), meaning we did not arrive with enough propane, diesel, or water to last the week without their hookups. The first night their generator did not work and their pipes froze over, so we had no power and no water except for what we brought with us. This continued into the next day. Our pipes were fine. Then we saw 3 large charges on our card coming to over $7,700. We brought this up with management. Meredith, Tim, and Molly attempted to make it up to us and fix the charges, but it seemed like each person we talked to did not have a solution that was going to last the week for their generator. It seemed their generator was supposed to be on a timer, but the timer wasn't working so a manager named Rob had to come out to turn on the generator at 6am and 6pm...but he didn't always come out to turn it on. When he did, their generator did not always continue to work for as long as it was supposed to. Again the next night there was no power. Then, when Meredith brought out the itemized charges it showed someone had made a huge mistake and it was coming to over $11,000 for the week. Silvie's agreed to give us a full refund. That night we talked to Roger, who worked with Silvie's and said we should give them another try and stay an extra day. We enjoyed the golf there, and we had power the next morning, so we decided we would give them another chance. We left to fill up our RV with propane, diesel, and water just in case Rob did not turn on the generator again, but we planned to come back so we could still stay the remaining 5 days of our reservation, with proper pricing. The owner of Silvie's said they would not honor our reservation after providing the refund. We didn't ask for a full refund, just that we should not be charged $7,700 or $11,000 for the week. We wanted to pay for our dinners, drinks, golf (although we didn't get to finish the round because our cart ran out of power since it was not able to charge with their generator issue). The whole experience was just embarrassing. We don't like to complain and we were trying to work with management to do the right thing, but we had no power or water during very cold nights. It was just such a disorganized mess and the owner seemed to just want to wash their hands of us since so many things had gone wrong. You will probably be fine coming to Silvie's if you stay in their cabins, confirm their pricing in writing, and confirm their power, well, heat, and AC all work. The other reviews that complained about issues with special menu requests don't make sense to me. The lodge food we tried was great and it's a working cattle ranch... you should not come to a cattle ranch on vacation if you're a vegetarian or vegan. If you plan on coming to Silvie's in a RV or trailer, be prepared, their hookups will not be consistent, so you may be boondocking. You will not have the advertised WiFi, garbage service, and many other amenities. Their pipes may freeze. Their generator may not provide power. There's no cell or Starlink service in the area so if your rig has its own WiFi it will not work. No one will come out and check on you, the RV sites, or to see if the generator is working. You will definitely need a golf cart so you can ride back and forth to let them know what's going on. Just be prepared to boondock and be completely self sufficient on their properly, but to also be invoiced a premium price. Very, very weird and unhappy experience for a resort we were really looking forward to and were scouting out for future big events.

The owner, Mark, was not available during the posted office hours, making it difficult to address questions and concerns. When we were able to speak with him, he was rude, impatient, and particularly unfriendly toward our boys, ages 10 and 7, who were genuinely trying to follow the campground's many rules. The situation escalated when we decided to leave two days early, despite having paid for and reserved our campsites. This was extremely disruptive to our family's vacation and left us feeling unwelcome. Considering the high cost of staying here, we expected much better conditions. The campground was very dusty, and the restroom and shower facilities were dirty and unsanitary throughout our stay. Unfortunately, due to the poor customer service, lack of professionalism, and substandard facilities, we cannot recommend this resort.
