He helped us arrive at a suitable energy-efficient Simonton models to replace 5 of our windows at a reasonable price. He also measured all the windows to be replaced and promptly provided a written quote. Three of our replacements were for original 30+ year-old single-hung windows which were no longer functional because their balances had failed. The replacement Simonton windows have a better design that obviates the need for such balances, which was of added value to me! The total window order, measured and made to order, was received by JWG within 3 weeks and installed within 1 week. JWG Windows arrived just minutes before the scheduled time for installation. We were fortunate to have a second installation crew (Alex and Ricky) join the first crew (EJ and Cody) during the installation process, which allowed the entire job to be done within 2.5 hours. These two teams operated smoothly together in good spirits, were respectful of our property (using drop cloths in each work area) and cleaned up the work areas. After they were installed, EJ demonstrated the windows' operating features, provided me with the manufacturer's warranty and answered my questions. (The self-latching worked a bit differently than I expected, which actually was an improvement!) The windows look great and are a pleasure to use! Nice work, JWG!

We were told by all the other contractors that our doorway was a weird size, and that they were unable to install the doors without cutting into our drywall and stucco and removing our patio stairs. We were also told this would be a project that took multiple days. I posted our other quotes to Yelp to see if other contractors could beat it, and Sivan responded. Oded from Sivan came in and confirmed what I suspected: That what we were told by other contractors was wrong, and that they could easily replace our sliding patio doors with French doors with a lock, and that it could be done via retrofitting and would only take a matter of hours. Everyone at Sivan was easy to work with. My husband and I frequently have meetings during the day, so it's hard to have a call about house stuff. Everyone at Sivan was able to communicate via e-mail and text so we could handle things while in meetings, and they were super responsive even though we sometimes took months to respond because we had a baby since we originally reached out to them. We were able to get our doors done for $4,298.80, which was the best quote we had from any contractor and included labor, materials, and a warranty. Unfortunately, things began to fall apart shortly before finalizing my cabinet order. My final renderings were never properly completed. One entire room was missing from the plans, and major updates that were requested - including switching from frameless to framed cabinets (which affects cabinet sizing) - were never reflected in the drawings. It became very difficult to get in touch with anyone to finalize the order or receive updated plans. Eventually I went into the store in person, where Liad offered to "fix and finalize" everything on the spot. He manually drew out the new layout and entered the order on his phone, assuring us he was taking care of everything. However, no formal layout, purchase order, item list, cabinet sizes, or updated renderings were ever provided. I was told we could rely on the existing renderings and that getting formal updates from the designers would take too long. After paying, we heard nothing until my contractor informed me that cabinet boxes were being delivered. The delivery arrived without any paperwork, purchase order, or layout for my contractor and cabinet installer to reference. Once installation began, we discovered multiple issues: missing items, incorrect cabinet sizes, missing panels, and accessories that were the wrong size. Trying to resolve these problems was extremely frustrating. It was again difficult to reach Liad until we went back into the store. He repeatedly asked us to provide a list of what needed to be fixed, but that was difficult because we were never given a purchase order or layout showing what was actually ordered. What stood out most was the change in demeanor. Conversations that were initially helpful became defensive and dismissive. At one point he even questioned whether our installers "knew what they were doing," and suggested modifying cabinets to make incorrectly sized accessories fit instead of addressing the ordering mistakes. At this point I have had to purchase replacement panels, shelves, and accessories out of pocket from another cabinet store just to keep the project moving. Both my contractor and cabinet installer -- as well as staff at the other cabinet supplier -- were shocked by the experience and confirmed that this is not how a cabinet ordering process should work. My advice if you choose to work with this company is to triple-check everything and get all documentation in writing before paying. Make sure you receive final drawings, a purchase order, item numbers, and cabinet dimensions. It's unfortunate to have such a stressful experience during what should be an exciting part of a home remodel. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business. There are many other cabinet suppliers that provide clearer communication and proper documentation.

After removing the old fence, he left all of the debris--large pieces of the old fence and scraps--piled in my side yard instead of hauling them away or cleaning up the area. He returned a few days later to install a gate. When he finished, I went into the backyard and found that several of my bushes had been pulled out by the roots and left lying on the ground. He also left the section of fence he removed to install the gate simply lying in the yard. There was also an issue with the gate pricing. I was originally quoted $300 for the gate. When he arrived to install it, he showed me a Home Depot receipt for $279 just for the materials. When I asked about the difference, he didn't offer much explanation and simply said he would charge $100 for labor so we would be "close" to the original quote. What was most frustrating is that it would have been very easy for him to clean up after himself and communicate. A quick call from Home Depot to let me know the materials were going to cost more would have been appreciated. Overall, I felt like the job was done with minimal effort and attention to detail. I expect contractors to take pride in their work and leave the property in good condition, and unfortunately that didn't happen here.

We felt like we were not able to diy this job and Nick and Max had a reasonable price for the work and didn't make us feel bad that it was above our skills. Nick communicated with us through text and kept us informed during the whole time he was scheduling and working on the job. They were tidy during the work and respectful of our kitchen tile. Nick even offered to take our old disposal and dispose of it. They left our kitchen very clean after their work. Nick said if our disposal leaked to contact him and they would come back and fix the leak as part of the job. It did leak and they came back the very next day, added some stuff they picked up on their way to our house and took the whole thing out and reinstalled. It has not leaked since they were last here. We were very impressed with their expertise and customer service and are going to have them do some more jobs at our vintage home. I think 3 came up in my area of Pine Valley in San Diego County and I had all 3 come out to give me a bid along with 2 other siding contractors that could install Hardie Board. One bid was high, 3 bids were comparable and one was low. Turns out Mike and Jesus, owners of CertEx, installed our windows with another company 12 years ago but has since started their own company. I didn't choose CertEx because I worked with Mike and Jesus in the past. I chose them because they didn't blow smoke up my ass like other "Approved" and "Elite" contractors approved by James Hardie. I chose them because their price seemed fair. It wasn't high or low. I chose them because my gut said, "You can trust this contractor". Guess what? I was right. The team did an amazing job. So meticulous. I can't get past that. They did not skimp or cut corners. Their attention to detail was beyond expectation. The workers at my home were Carlos, Arturo and Pumba. They were great!!! Since it was going to be a rental house, we needed cabinets that wouldn't be too expensive but would last well and look good. The cabinets, which arrive on pallets in flat boxes that you or your cabinet installer assemble (and install) yourself, are very solid and quite nice, with soft-close hinges. They turned our nicer than the cabinets in our own house, so now of course my wife wants to redo our kitchen, too. We are very pleased with the cabinets, and our new tenants love them too. The assembly and installation of the cabinets is pretty tricky, so you'll want someone who is skilled and has done it before.
