Maybe not the right company for smooth stucco. I cannot speak to their painting, they might be great, but the smooth stucco isn't smooth. I really didn't want to write anything other than a stellar review for this company, because they are such nice guys, but the work we got from them can only be given 3 stars. We hired QHP to stucco 2 very long (170') block walls on our property. I got a few bids from other companies, and one that was $2000 cheaper than QHP. I called Kevin, and asked if he could offer a more competitive bid. We had gotten a good feeling from his field rep, Brian, and wanted to go with their company, if possible. Kevin was very reasonable, and gave us a better offer, which we accepted. The job got done, but the final result was not all that we had hoped for. We spent $8750 to get SMOOTH stucco on these two walls to match our front wall. Every time they said the work was finished, we had to take pictures of how rough the surfaces were, where there were holes, where were was lifting, and then send the pix to ask "how can this be done??" Each time, Brian was very nice about it, and would come out or send someone out to do some more work, and each time the result was lackluster. No one in charge was checking the work at the end of the day and approving it. We were left to do the job of quality control, which is really frustrating at the end of my own long work day. We gave both Brian and Kevin every chance to give us a "quality" job, and in the end, we ended up feeling that if we wanted it smooth, we would have to do the finishing work ourselves. 5/5 Responsiveness: Both Kevin and Brian were easy to reach, quick to respond, and were always very nice. Kevin even reached out once the review was posted to see if there was anything he could do to make us happier. 3/5 Workmanship: The wall is covered in stucco, and in places it looks quite good, but overall, the job was not what I would call great. I decided not to recommend them to my friend who had a stucco job at her house. 3/5 Timeframe: The job was estimated at 6-7 work days. The project was on-going for 3 weeks. Granted, there were a couple weather delays for rain, but the fact was: their longest day was 5 hours, and they usually only worked a couple of hours/ day, which dragged out the timeline. 5/5 Price: Kevin worked with us to generate a price that felt very fair. We appreciated that. 3/5 Professionalism: Both Brian and Kevin were very nice, and tolerant of our multiple questions, concerns, and detailed feedback. However, the job site was not picked up after each day. My boyfriend would have to go out and pick up wrappers, empty materials bags, hats, sanding blocks, etc each day they worked. There were spatters and spills on the front sidewalk and on our capstones. There were also drips on our neighbor's side of the wall, that WE had to try to clean up. At the end of the job, there were two buckets 1/2 full of (HEAVY) dried stucco left for us to dispose of. Kevin seems like he truly cares about his company, and Brian seems like he really wants to make the customer happy, but in the end, the result was unimpressive. I think if you really watch after the work and tirelessly contact Kevin, you might be able get an acceptable job done for a good price. We were considering hiring them to paint the wall too, but given the final outcome, we decided to give that job to another company. read more

Quality House Painting was sold to a guy named Brian. I got a quote to have the exterior of my house painted with 2 coats. They only painted 1 coat and claimed to have painted it 2 coats but there are patches of areas that clearly were only painted once as I can see the old paint. He was supposed to send guys to paint again but never did and he already collected all the money. Also business address is not to be found. read more

Extremely unsatisfied! I found this company for my elderly parents. They were charged $5k for paint, facia repairs, and patching a corner of their roof. First time the wind blew a 20 foot section of roofing came off, the several areas of flashing fell down, and we discovered areas that he didn't paint because they could only be seen from other homes. To make matters worse, he dodged calls, and won't keep appointments to fix this. Update: after several weeks of attempting to get them to fix their work they finally did. My parents are happy with the results, but not with the wait for the repairs. read more

This is a follow up review. QHP painted the interior of our traditional ranch style home in 2018 and completed the exterior 3 months ago. We decided on Dunn Edward's swiss coffee body with espresso trim. Initially, it was brighter than we preferred so my husband called Kev seeking for his advise. We have to admit, it's a little shocking to drive up to a different colored home than we were used to. Kev suggested for us to give it couple of weeks for the colors and the change to settle in. This is a cautionary tale of buying a flipped house. My husband and I bought our house about 4 years ago - newly flipped. There was a new coat of paint on the outside, and we happily moved in. Not long after, we started to notice the paint was bubbling in areas. Not long after that, the bubbles started to open up. Not long after that, paint started falling off! First it fell off in small pieces, then in big chunks. Before we knew it, there were huge areas of our original wood siding exposed to the world. Obviously we needed to get the house repainted. #1, to protect us from further damage down the road that would only be more expensive and #2, we want to be good neighbors. We didn't want to be THAT house. I came to Yelp and made a few phone calls. Paul from Quality House Painting was the first to come to my house. I had already received a couple of rough estimates via email and pictures, but I really wanted the painters to come and see it in person to fully understand the extent of the work they had ahead of them. I immediately felt good with Paul. We took our time walking around the entire exterior of the house. He started listing out all of the things they'd do to prep the house - power wash, sanding, scraping, bond, patching... Repainting and sanding the garage door and all windows, changing the color of the front door for us... After the end of our first meeting, he gave me a written estimate with all of the steps we had just talked about listed out. I knew immediately I wanted to hire him, but he urged me to get other estimates. He told me that they would probably fall into the middle of the price range. Sure enough, after talking with other painters and getting other estimates, I still decided to go with Quality House Painting. I sent in a 50% deposit, and not long after, work began. Paul's crew was led by Jose who did an outstanding job. They arrived at the same time every morning, worked hard, and they never felt like they were in the way. They were friendly with our dogs as well which is a big plus. While starting the initial prep work of the sanding, they found several boards that were rotted out - most likely from the sprinklers hitting back onto the house in the same spot. There was a corner in one of our windows that had rotted out as well. They removed all of the bad wood and instructed us on what to get at the lumber store. We headed out, bought the pieces we needed, and sure enough, they fixed EVERYTHING. I'll try to include as many pictures as I can after I post my review. They never skimped on the prep work. I think they spent a good 6 days just on preparation before they ever painted. I appreciate so much that they recognized the problem that we dealt with from the last time the house was painted, then did their best to make sure that it wouldn't happen again. We've gotten several compliments from the neighbors as well as friends who saw what the house looked like before. I've already recommended Paul, Jose, and the others at Quality House Painting to friends of mine. It truly was an A+++ experience. From the initial phone call with Kristin, QHP gave me a great impression. I called them Saturday morning, and received a phone call back within 30 minutes even though they were closed. Kev came and provided an estimate and clarified the scope of work. What I liked was that they also did very light handyman work. I didn't have to make extra calls for drywall work. Kev confirmed that they will remove all the screws from the walls and will patch and paint. On their second day on the job, I came by for a periodic inspection. The prep work was done professionally. We recently had a new front door installed, which left an area around the frame that needed to be filled in with dry wall and prepared for painting. Brian was very responsive to my request for a quote, and once I decided to use his company, he was able to send someone within a few days to do the job. The worker showed up right on time and did a great job on the dry wall. He filled everything in and matched the texture to the rest of the wall. He was very nice, explained everything he was doing and how long it would take, and cleaned the whole area up after he was finished. This outfit is a mixed bag. They removed wallpaper in one bedroom and painted 2 rooms + kitchen+laundry+ bathroom. Wallpaper removal was good, and the painting of the walls overall was decent. I met some resistance when I requested a touch-up on some areas of the ceilings that were showing lap marks. They didn't want to do any more than one extra touch-up, even though the lap marks were still visible. The biggest letdown was the doors, cabinets, and trim in the bedroom. After they were done and gone I discovered that the paint easily scratches off. Apparently, they put latex paint on top of oil paint and it's not sticking well. I texted Brian and he said he would come around to have a look but never did.That was several months ago. Also, they left a bit of a mess in the bathroom that I had to clean up. Within a week of the completion of my job, I called Rachelle at Quality House Painting regarding a few places that were missed by the painters and some minor problems with the stucco repairs. The touch ups/repairs would have taken one man only a couple of hours to complete. The contract provided for a one year warranty. QHP went above and beyond to make sure that the job was done the way my wife envisioned it, to make sure she was safe (she's pregnant), and to minimize any complications my two-year-old son might have caused. Paul came out and provided and estimate which was very competitive to the other quotes I had. The guys did a great job prepping the house and painting the exterior (stucco). We are very happy with the paint job. A general paint lesson learned: As much as dunn edwards, bayer, and shermin williams say that they color match, don't believe them. The formulas are estimates based on the wet look of the paint, not how it dries. We had an issue with picking a shermin williams color, then having dunn edwards color match it and when it dried on our stucco walls it did not match the shermin william color I had painted on the wall several days before. So, if you are going to paint your house with dunn edwards paint then pick dunn edwards paint colors (it will ensure consistency and allow you to pick the same color again in the future). read more

Paul is also a great communicator so it was very easy and quick to schedule an appointment with all the specs I wanted. Him and his team did an amazing paint job - clean lines, great color match - everything I wanted. While they are very professional, I feel they were a little too quick on the clean up. Some of my outlet faceplates were not screwed on all the way and there was a little bit of trash leftover from their lunch. A couple years back I hired these guys to do the inside of my 2 bedroom condo in Costa Mesa. That was a $4k job - they did well - although be careful if you ask that hardware be pulled off doors during the sales call vs masked. The crew will try and mask regardless of your desire - watch em closely. Recently had Kev out to do a quote for what will stack up to be about $1500 worth of exterior work after we had a roof done. Kev is passing on the work. Apparently they are too big now. His decision but if you are looking for a paint company to have a relationship with for jobs large and small don't waste your time. New House, new coat, new attitude in customer service. After a "Highest Rated" check on ole Yelper's, I went to their webpage to check out previous work and recommendations. There was video of the exterior painting process. I was looking for and interior job and clicked on that and one look at the clean lines and the list of prep work included in the service I was dead set on seeing what QHP could do for my new home. As a savvy shopper my wife went to get another bid and we had a staggered walk-through scheduled for several contractors, for several fix-ups including a new kitchen look. The difference was dramatic. Both companies did the initial walk-through on the same day - we went with QHP. Paul was on time, courteous - just like on the phone, worked with me on the work to be done to keep the estimated costs down, respected my property, had his crew early to the job site, secondary walk-through before the painting began, took my color selections without problems, didn't mind me working on the plumbing, electrical, and other stuff while they did their thing, I pointed out some minor detail issues and they fixed right away, left the leftover paint for touch-ups and the drop cloth in place as I requested, removed the work debris and finished AHEAD of schedule.
