It would be more eco-friendly for guests to request when service is needed. Staff is helpful. Room was good temp. Breakfast was good. Great location to everything. While the carpet seemed vacuumed, it didn't feel truly clean--my daughter's socks turned jet black and sticky just from walking around. We stuck to wearing shoes indoors after that. The beds were fine comfort-wise, but the frames were very loud--every movement creaked or banged, which got annoying quickly. The pool was "under maintenance," though it didn't really look like any work was being done. Breakfast was pretty lackluster. By 7am both Saturday and Sunday, most of the food was gone and there wasn't anyone around to replenish or clean up. It was an overall nice stay and had a good, relaxing vibe. We will be back. Just don't plan to get here earlier than the 4 PM check-in time because they don't let you in early. We couldn't check into our room until almost 4:30 because it wasn't ready yet. Our evening got off to a little bit of a rough start because we had reservations at local restaurant and had plans to go to a concert. The restaurant, despite poor reviews from what seems like folks with either unrealistic expectations or simply a poor palette, is incredible. Got the onion soup + brat plate -- worth every penny. Was the place fairly empty when i got in? Sure. But so was the town. I'd go back here in a heart beat. If you read any reviews about this place, read mine. I'm as picky as they come and really enjoyed myself here. In addition, those complaining about the prices of the restaurant.... don't come to LA. You'll just complain all day. To the owners of the hotel + restaurant = great job. To preserve a place that's almost 200 years old, while upgrading certain aspects to maintain an up to date look, is really inspiring. They also put up a poster/sign by one of the doors wishing us a happy birthday, so that was a nice surprise! We stayed in a Cane Ridge room with 2 beds and a fireplace. The TV was a smart one and we could log in to our personal streaming service accts. The beds and pillows.... Ahhh.... I'm picky when it comes to these 2 things, but it had to have been one of the most comfortable hotel/inn beds I've slept in. Everything was great and we've already talked about making this a yearly thing. Most of the stores close at 5 pm though which we were a bit put off by. The toy store across the way was so great though! Lots of cute shops and decent food around.
