We stay in hotels fairly often. My spouse travels for work, and once in awhile I tag along. We try to book both personal and business with the same chain to earn points. This is my first business tag along with him this year. The Quality Inn in Crestview is our second hotel this trip. We stayed in Room 131. It is closest to an outside door. We have a dog so that makes it easier to let him out. My first complaint is No hot water in the shower. I hate hate taking cold or cool showers. Making a cup of tea at 1:30 am this morning and saw a German cock roach scurry across the floor. Killed it with a shoe. Creeps me out. Door handle is loose. Our room key never unlocks the outside side door. We always have to walk around to the front doors. Even after having the front office clerk reprogram it. No remote for the TV when we arrived. They brought us different ones after check in and none of them worked. They finally brought us one that works the next day. The trim between the ceramic tile and vinyl floor comes up making a tripping hazard. We will not come back here. read more

Within 5 minutes of entering the room, we saw a huge palmetto bug on the wall, which we proceeded to kill. However, that's the only one we saw during our 6 day visit. Even more disgusting than the roach is when I flushed the toilet, I realized it was backed up. When I told the maintenance woman,I was shocked when she handed me a plunger instead! I then had the chore of unplunging the previous guest's fecal matter from the toilet. This was absolutely disgusting and that employee should be fired. In addition to that, we put out our dirty towels out for housekeeping wheen we saw them outside, and we took the Do Not Disturb sign off our doorknob so they could give us new towels. They never did. Even if they offered a free stay, we would never stay here again. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the lady at the front desk was nice and she let us borrow a USB plug that we forgot to pack. read more

I just wanted a little comfort after my mother's death. Instead they tricked me into paying hundreds more, for much less than we were promised. We were traveling for the funeral. I tried to find the bereavement travel rate online, but couldn't. I contacted the hotel, but no one knew it. So I emailed reservations. I had to ask three times. Each response was from a different person, and each time, instead of answering my question, they responded as though I had asked something else. I contacted customer service who told me that we had to make the reservation FIRST and we had to do it through the reservations phone number, before they could apply the discount. I did so, and the best price they could offer was about $300 more than the advertised price on the hotel website. This has happened every time I have ever booked at a Choice hotel through the hotel directly or the reservations number, and they've never been able to explain why they are unable to match their own prices, just that they can't. Their "low price guarantee" specifically does not cover their own advertised rates, only third parties. I attempted twice more to contact customer service. After first ignoring me, they told me the bereavement rate was handled by the hotel, and they were sending a message flagged as "urgent" for the hotel manager to contact me, but no one did. I didn't realize until afterwards that I had been given instructions to reserve by a method guaranteed to cost more, in order to be eligible for a discount they had no intention of giving. And this sums up how this company sees your suffering: as an opportunity to fleece you. My spouse and I are both mobility impaired, so we reserved an accessible room with a roll in shower on the ground floor. At arrival, they told us that they didn't have handicapped rooms on the first floor, only the second. This is the second time I have encountered this bizarre phenomenon at a Choice property, and they won't tell you till you get there, despite agreeing when you book. As you can see from the pic, the roll in shower has a wicked curb to jump. A tub-shaped "border". Front desk told me my only other option was a non-accessible room. In the second pic, you will notice an unusually vacant area for a hotel room layout. It took me a bit to realize there was no easy chair/reading lamp. Apparently, they assume that the wheelchair bound, after popping wheelies in and out of the shower, and rappelling down the side of burning buildings, don't need anyplace comfortable to sit and relax. Other complaints: -Would not issue receipt upon checkout (they said one would be emailed but it never was). -Reservations would not accept my reward points despite the "points plus cash" policy. -Stay was one day shorter than we understood we paid for, and when asked front desk clerk was unfriendly and refused to check records to verify. -One of the only two elevators was inoperable since we arrived until checkout. -The breakfast buffet was never once complete, and on one day in particular there was no: juice, milk, sausages, fruit, biscuits, oatmeal or grits, yogurt, and no one at the front desk to help. Only eggs, dry cereal, black coffee, and a note apologizing for the absence of sausages. -No TV in the lobby/breakfast area. -No fan and no light cover in the bathroom. -The toilet tank leaks a puddle on the floor. -The towels are all stained. -They apparently do not clean between or behind furniture in the rooms, lobby, or anywhere else we saw. Hotel was disgustingly dirty. Dirty bandaid left in the shower, huge hair/lint ball left under sink, and moldy bathroom ceiling. The first room we stayed in was okay but the top linen was dirty. Unfortunately, we needed a pet room for a week and needed a more inexpensive option, Quality Inn provided both. They were understaffed, which happens, however, a manager or anyone who had an eye for housekeeping should be quality checking the rooms. Lock on door to my room did not work; it was already unlocked before I even used my key. The location is kind of sketchy, especially at night. I didn't feel comfortable walking to my car alone. Absolutely do not stay here! We had a reservation for two nights. We arrived and the desk clerk checked us in, upon entering the room is when the nightmare began. The air conditioner wasn't functioning properly, it wouldn't change settings at all and barely blew, the front of it was busted. There were stains all over the bedding, the table had residue and finger prints everywhere, the light fixture in the bathroom was destroyed, the chair was frayed and stained. We hadn't even taken anything off the luggage cart yet. I went and notified the desk we needed a new room and he informed me there were no more since we had our dog. So I told him he needed to contact the manager so we could cancel and get a refund. I had two kids with me, as a mother there is no way I was going to allow them to sleep in those nasty beds. He told me we could go ahead and leave and the manager would look it over. I asked him to have the manger to call me immediately because I needed to know they'd be refunding me. We had been traveling since 7 in the morning, didn't get there till 8 and now had to continue on another 4 hours to our final destination because we no longer had a room. They have charged me 3 times now totally $610 for a room we didn't stay in. We took photos and video of the situation. No phone calls from management have been returned. read more

Housekeeping good, but announce very loudly at neighboring doors, so you're awakened each time. Reservation request for pet friendly room, but they do NOT disclose "a per night & per pet room charge", until you check in! Keys have to be re-coded every couple of days. Very UNDER staffed. No front desk person, instead there's a card on the desk telling you to call the number to get front desk assistance; if you call the front desk from the room, no answer. I am extremely angry with Choice Hotels. I will NEVER stay in another hotel of theirs ever again. We got a dog friendly hotel and it smelled like dog pee. They told me there was nothing they could do. On the second night of our stay, the hotel started flooding. We had to wear shoes around the room due to all the water in the floor. Worst customer service ever. The desk clerks name was Lisa. She was rude and did not have on a face mask. She simply did not care about our issues at all. Probably a good thing because the guest in front of me was asking for help with a wet room. She was not concerned with his needs either. I think she just wanted to go smoke another cigarette because that's what she smelled like. Not sure how she qualified for a job there but they must need help very badly. I had a 10 night stay booked by my work agency. I arrived late, car park was full with trailers and difficult to park. Room was just ok, but I later found that it was one of the last renovated and very worn. Checked out the fitness center, most equipment was broken and or dirty, No wet wipes or weights. BTW, they discontinued free USA Today at the desk. Next, the TV kept pixilating and lost signal. Not fixed in whole stay. Breakfast was the same each day. Inedible scrambled eggs (made with powder) or same made into a sort of omelet. Toast and yoghurt had to do. Fortunately, Waffle House is a short walk for a great breakfast. It seems to be a magnet for trailers, BIG ones, one had a freezer compressor running right near my window until I found the driver and he moved it. BTW, its location is such that its very difficult to exit onto the highway, due to heavy traffic, you have to turn right and U turn to go left. Long story short, our flight to Florida was delayed several hours and wasn't able to check in until around 2:30 AM. Walked in the room and it had a strong smell of VOMIT!!! We pulled over because it is just off I-10. The front desk staff was very nice. The room was clean and had a comfortable king-sized bed, desk, single chair. The vanity/sink area is outside of the shower area which works unless you don't want to wake your partner who might be sleeping. Our shower was very small but still clean. If I could give this property less than 1 star I would. My family arrived around midnight July 1st going into July 2nd for the 4th of July holiday only to find out that only 1 out of the 4 rooms booked was available to check in. The others had been canceled. The 1 room that was available was not clean and the front desk said there was no one there to clean it. There were crumbs in what we thought was a sleeper sofa, crumbs & other debris on the bed & the towels were dirty as well. I immediately requested a refund for my room that I was supposed to check into at 3 pm on July 2nd & was told I needed to speak with a manager which did not happen even after visiting the property the following day. I left my information with the front desk & sent a message to the property via the booking.com app. They still took a payment for the first nights stay in the amount of $169.17 & refunded the other 2 nights. I do not have money to throw away like this. I am a single parent of 3 & I did budget for this trip. I did not plan on giving away $169.17. That is money my children & I could have had to eat or go to an attraction. I had to cut out one of our attractions because of this. My family did not check into a different hotel until 3am. We were outside this hotel calling for available rooms for all of us for 2 and a half hours after driving from Chicago, IL. Save yourself the trouble & do not book at this hotel! read more

We stayed in the Comfort Inn across the street, in doing some research I saw that the Quality Inn was haunted, more specifically, room 208 was the hot spot for morbid ghost sightings. Now I'm a bit of an odd guy, I find this very interesting, so I requested room 208. I waited up for a ghost to appear, with neighbors from room 202 until 3am. We sat in the hallway, with my room door open. Unfortunately there was no sign of a ghost. The room was very clean, staff was friendly. We would stay again. Breakfast needs some improvement, Comfort Inn puts on a better breakfast but then again the Comfort Inn is about $30 more per night and $30 is an expensive breakfast! I like the look of the Quality Inn. It is a good value, clean rooms, no ghosts that I've seen! read more

OMG if I could give this place a ZERO I would!!! The worst experience I've ever had in my life of vacationing. I drove 12 hours plus from Texas to take my family to the beach for the weekend. We had a lot of kids with us so after 12 hours they were hungry and restless. We had two rooms; both booked through hotels.com. I came in and checked in for my room and went to see if everything was ok. As soon as I walked in the room I was greeted by a musty smell and hot air. There were stains on the bed sheets and blankets; as well as the curtains that looked to be dried up blood as it had turned from red to brown. I was not happy!!! I went back downstairs to let the front desk know of my concern. She told me there is no housekeeper on duty this was around 8:30p I made it in; Also that there is no clean sheets nor towels available for me to switch my linen out!! I was immediately upset. On top of that we came to find out that my brother-in-law's room had been cancelled due to an OVERBOOKING issue and they were not even contacted about it. Mind you there were no more rooms left except a suite that was $300/night. Oh and the room the manager slept in because she was there but wasn't coming downstairs to assist the paying customers with their concerns. We were told by the front desk lady we could all crash in my small double bed room for the night and then the next day they would have rooms. I had 2 adults 3 teenagers as tall as Yao Ming in my car plus 2 other adults and 4 kids.......Could you see us cooped up in that room I don't think so!! 15 minutes later we were going to try to just all crash for one night and the front desk agent says well I can't allow you to stay in the same room it would be against our policy and you could get in trouble. Mind you she is the one that made the suggestion in the first place. After trying to contact the manager some more we were out of options. in the midst of the back and forth they let us know that the once 1 available room was now booked by the manager who was once said to be sleep in the first place!!! I had reached a all new level of pissed off. We sat in the lobby for about 2 hours trying to find another room or even cut our losses and drive back to Dallas in the middle of the night. DO YOU KNOW THIS LADY HAD THE AUDACITY TO SAY " well for your troubles I can let you stay in the suite(that supposedly was booked) and then we will transfer you to a regular room with no additional charge". You could have done that from the start 2 damn hours ago!!!! We tried to move past the unprofessionalism and disregard for customer service. The next day the manger was working the front desk and I knew it was the manager because I remembered her voice; she not knowing her employee put her on speaker phone the night before so that we could hear her verbally say we were ASSED out in so many words. We asked the manager for her name... She paused for awhile because I'm sure she knows who we are.... and told us "umm it's Tina...Umm Tina Johnson.... Her real name was like Sunjai Prakta or something and it was on the wall!!! I was over this place completely. Please don't stay here save your time and energy people!! Visiting family for thanksgiving holidays, we stayed at the Quality Inn and had. Great experience! We arrived late Wednesday night and the sole girl at the desk made sure we were taken care of quickly. She even made sure we knew that housekeeping was only taking a half day on thanksgiving day. The room was clean, except for a runaway Cheerio from the family who stayed before us, but that's seriously nit picking. Water was hot, beds were soft, overall room quality was great! The biggest advantage was my fiancée and I decided to head back to Texas a day early to avoid heavy traffic, and without asking, they offered to refund us the final night! Amazing! I would highly recommend staying here and Quality Inn has earned some loyalty points in my book! read more

If I could give this property no stars I would. For starters me and my fiancé came to crestview to look at houses and drive 21 hours to get here from Colorado. We finally got to the hotel and noticed black mold forming on the ceiling of the shower. Then I looked in the drawers they have under the microwave and seen baby roaches crawling around. I then checked where the fridge was enclosed At and seen a pile of dead roaches behind the fridge and a few live ones scattering around the fridge. Me and my fiancé then gathered all of our belongings as fast as we could and went to the front desk. I asked the front desk attendant " Asian Female" if they were aware that they had a roach infestation. She proceeded to tell me to stop making a scene when I was trying to inform her of the issue innny hotel room. I asked if I can get a refund and called Booking.com to try and get another hotel to stay for the week. While on hold with booking she prints a receipt of what I had already paid for the week plus their separate deposit. I turned and asked again for the receipt for proof of the refund she explained I'd be getting. The front desk clerk refused to provide me proof of the refund for the deposit and called 911. Then a police officer showed up and the clerk began explaining that Booking.com will refund me and that me and my fiancé don't seem to understand that. What a great stay. The rooms were awesome and they even accommodated our emotional support dog free of charge. The staff was so friendly and everyone greeted me throughout my entire stay. Even the guests were friendly! They even had free breakfast in the morning that really got us ready for our morning drive. We booked 15 minutes before arriving and still got an amazing rate of $75 for the night. Great price for such a clean, comfortable and friendly hotel. I stayed at this hotel twice before with a good experience, but this 3rd time was my last. It used to be called the Jameson Inn, but when it turned into the "Quality Inn", the quality went down, ironically. There was an outside fluorescent light coming into the room because the curtains couldn't close all the way, the bright lights in the hallway were streaming under the door, the ice & vending machines were going all night, people were yelling in the hallway, & my room was attached to another room by a door & I could hear every single noise in their room. The service was just ok, the carpets looked dirty, & the bathroom floor was sticky. The bed was comfortable, but it couldn't stop me from saying this hotel was a nightmare. read more

I love this place! I'm pretty particular about my hotel stays and cleanliness but this hotel was so clean!! I was very pleased since the booking was under a $80. David was at the front desk working the night shift and I told him our situation about our car breaking down and that we had to scrap it. Right away he went online and found me the name of the place he used when he was in the same situation. Unfortunately they were closed on Saturday but David effort was so appreciated! The next morning we were pleasantly surprised with a delicious free breakfast and the sweetest lady ever. I didn't catch her name but who ever was replenishing the breakfast Feb 11th Saturday morning, you were an absolute sweetheart and I appreciate you for being so kind and happy so early in the morning! Also the woman at the front desk that same morning, went out of her way to find me a shuttle for the airport and even called it for me when I was ready. Solid enough hotel. Location is great for Interstate 10 travelers. You can walk to Cracker Barrel and a small gas station with having to cross any streets. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I would not stay here if you want to travel to Ft. Walton or Destin. read more

The rooms are a nice size and reasonable for the price, but the doors, walls, roof, everything is paper thin. Any noise from the hallway, the tv on the other side of the wall, people talking, people walking above you, is heard loud and clear. There is nothing special about the bathroom, tv, or other amenities. The towels are very thin and small, however. We got a wake up call at 5am every morning without requesting it, and after asking for it to be stopped, we kept getting it. It is within a 30 second walk of Cracker Barrel, which is a plus for nice, quick food. It is also within a 30 second walk of the Holiday Inn, which is probably the better option of places to stay. read more

We chose this hotel because we needed to make an unexpected trip with our dog to take care of an aging, ill parent. They are the only one in the area that allows pets, so options were pretty limited. Besides, we stayed here before when it was Jameson Inn and had a lovely experience. Definitely not this time. We arrived late in the night. The clerk was friendly, but advised of an unexpected fee not mentioned when we made (and paid for) our reservation. We chalked it up to miscommunication and checked in. In the morning, neither of our room keys worked. When we let the manager know, she accused us of damaging the keys. I gave her the keys to fix and she slapped a paper on the counter for the dog and said, "You need to sign this, and I need your credit card. The one your husband gave us is no good." Mind you, there were other customers standing right behind me; no discretion at all. When I told her that our bank card was indeed good, she loudly said, "No, your card is bad." I let her know that her customer service was lacking and that my husband would be out to talk with her about the card. I went to the room, but my husband was showering. I ran out to the store. When I walked into the lobby, the manager yelled across the foyer from the hallway, "You need to pay me now!" The conversation escalated from there and she told me we needed to check out and cancel our reservation - despite the fact that I let her know that my husband was in the shower and the purpose of our visit. She even threatened to call the police. Ridiculous and way over the top. As it turned out, our card was fine. The clerk had not run it correctly. So we were threatened over "operator error" by an extremely rude and unprofessional manager. We will never stay here again. We would have received better treatment at a kennel. read more
