    GROSS
    Alyse H.

This in the top 10 grossest hotels I've stayed in in California and I practically live out of them. The only positive is that the room didn't smell. I almost got a nail through my foot going into the bathroom after a long day because the rail in between was not even properly placed, the nails were hanging out see photo. Then as I'm going to get in the shower, I realize the plumbing isn't even flush with the spout. Upon further inspection, I see that the flooring isn't even properly done, which is gross in itself because of mold and looking up the ceiling is failing above shower. There's burn holes in one of the comforters marks all over, smears on the walls, marks on the carpet. That's just downright obvious that this place was never made to be quality and I'm pretty damn sure that if a health inspector ever went here, there would be serious consequences. Our company booked and I will be calling quality Inn corporate to let them know what state this room is in because it's not right for people to spend their money for a quality stay or just a decent one and they get this, let alone our hard working guys. Whoever gave this place a good rating likely is getting paid for it or friends with the person who owns it. I hate to do reviews like this because I know it affects who owns this place but this is not right and at some point you've gotta take responsibility and talk to corporate for help.

Merced doesn't really have a whole lot of quality places to stay while you are in town, but this particular hotel is always worth the prices that they are asking per room. They don't always have a working pool or hot tub available, but if you simply need a place to rest your head for a night or two, they'll do. Their cleaning and room maintenance isn't the worst around, but could always be better, as I have noticed plenty of cleanable stains and have almost used what appears to be recycled hand soap from previous customer's visits. Their breakfast is definitely what kept them from receiving 2 stars, as it is way better in both quality and selection than a standard continental breakfast you can expect to receive elsewhere. Buffets may not be your ideal go to morning fulfillment, but at least they do what they can to offer items that most would enjoy.

Smokey hazy sky during the fires

We were there for one night during the fires so it was hot, the sky was really orange and ashes raining down. It was nice to walk into a cool room with the ac already on. Clean room, friendly staff but I didnt like how the guy checking us in, Robert, had issues wearing his mask properly. While waiting to check in I watched for like 10 mins while his mask was either falling off his face or under his nose. Im really anal about safety during this time. Aside from that, I had a pleasant experience.

Renovation was not completed. Cleanliness was not the best.

Not at all impressed. Customer Service: -3 - Due to the young lady w the major attitude that was working the night shift on Saturday. Nov. 19th. - same lady w the attitude yelled at my kids because "they" were being loud. I witnessed her yelling from the 2nd floor balcony to the 1st floor pool area. Explain how my kids were the problem. - I had to call and request that a fridge be pulled out of one of the other 15 rooms we had because I had perishables. The answer was NO we can't do that. - One of our parents had requested a room on the highest floor. This was true due to the email that was communicated w this establishment. They were all out of room and were stuck. But that was after the PM shift lady very snarky said "maybe you should've requested that when you booked the room" - this particular parent was also missing a drive and microwave in their room. Some how they got one but I DIDN'T!?!? Seriously? * I should note that the younger lady at the front desk on Fri. night was very patient and helpful since we all arrived at 2AM Cleanliness: -7 - FLIES. FLIES. FLIES!!!!!! Everywhere. It was bad! In the rooms. In the hallways. In the breakfast area. - there was HAIR on the shower wall in my room. I hadn't taken a shower YET. Seems that no real thought went into the very large reservation placed. About 15 rooms. A HS band and the rooms were all over. - having the kids on the bottom 2 floors would've helped w the "noise" issues. They are teenagers. They are chatty. They have fun. Personally, I would not recommend this hotel to friends or family. IF I have any input for the next band trip, I wouldn't recommend this place either. IF I don't... I only hope that you read this and better everyone else's experience.

    cockroach

I'd give this place less than one star. There's no warm water in the showers so you'll have to shower in the cold, when using the sink it's hot water, cockroaches in the room, some of the lights don't work, there's a smell when you enter the room, and some of the doors don't close.

The structure looks very sketchy anyway. We enjoyed our stay, there's no pool or hot tub, but there's a gym & an outdoor quad area. Lots of things walking distance like this nice little juice bar called kind neighborhood juice bar. I got to try some tasty smoothies that have a lot of great benefits. The hotel feels like it's a man's hotel because of the dark colors like dark forest green with black. The shower threw me off because it has only one door and it doesn't slide over so you have an open side to the shower so water is getting out as your showering, I love the colors in the bathroom though. They have FREE coffee in the room you just steep in your mug like a tea bag. Inside they also have an electric kettle for hot water. I like that they have ice and water on the 3rd floor. Best croissants around here are mankley's donuts. Best coffee is Hola Cafe. Cute little town of Merced.

We stayed here in June and experienced harassing and intimidating behavior by staff. Management response was limited. I am listing the more egregious issues here. We had connecting rooms and no door stoppers, the rooms did not have key access to one another so when the door closed unexpectedly, we got locked out. It was early morning so the door latch was still on from night before. I was in the connecting room with my kids when the Maintenance man opened the door. He notified us by swinging the connecting room doors open twice without knocking. I was surprised because we hadn't gotten an ETA for resolution but super grateful and in a rush. I said thank you, thinking thatd be it. Turns out it wasn't. The maintenance man had to be pushed out of my door way because he had been told by the "manager" Priscilla that I was "pressuring them" when I called to ask for a time estimate for the service so I could get my kids morning medicine & other belongings or make other plans. The maintenance man stood in front of my door, looking at me intensely, and said "it's her ? She's the one pressuring us? We don't have to do this (unlock the door).." I said thank you several times before realizing what was happening then told him I didn't pay to argue as I was pushing the door he was blocking to get him out my room. Priscilla was in the hallway and asked if I had gotten corporates number then Scoffed when I said no. He didn't budge until I put my phone up. I wasn't sure if I was going to record or call 911. I notified management and corporate by email, informing them every detail and that there was also a sink not working since our arrival the previous night but I was uncomfortable getting it fixed without coordinating w management first. I was so uncomfortable, I didn't want anyone in my room, I was uncomfortable that they had access to my room (and personal information). Despite my request to coordinate the fix, They sent housekeeping without notice. While housekeeping was in the room, I also received a call from Priscilla who informed me not to email mgmt but only ask for support at the desk. I told her I didn't feel comfortable, and she proceeded to argue that she had been "realllyyy nice to me" then hang up abruptly after I told her this conversation was inappropriate. We didn't get a response from management until we had decided to check out a day early later that evening. And it confirmed our decision to do so. There was no reassurance that we'd be left alone, but an offer to a free dinner at the restaurant in the same lobby as where Priscilla worked. It was incredibly insulting and there was no way I trusted a meal from this place. Upon checkout we also found that communication to the later staff had been that we had refused service, implying we were being difficult, not that the staff was being inappropriate and unprofessional. Marriott is a hospitality company but this experience was so below the bar I am still shocked and uncomfortable. I wasn't looking to be wowed, just not end up entirely disturbed. They could have just *not*, but it seemed that they went out of this way to create this experience. While we received a refund and a case closure email citing the free meal, the experience was still not okay and I don't think it's been or will be resolved at this point. I'm still shaken weeks later. Can't imagine what could have happened if I were alone in this case, shorter or more timid. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.

The breakfast was also delicious. Thank you, Kit. The area was well-kept, and she even helped me with the waffle maker. As someone who doesn't eat pork, I was hoping for a turkey or beef option for the sausage. That's my only gripe. One evening, I went to the lobby to grab some snacks and met Stephanie, I think that was her name was. We chatted for a bit, and she even suggested an ice cream cup snack, which was fantastic! The front desk was extremely short staffed with one person trying to check-in four parties, and the check in process took a long time, mainly spent waiting in line. Our room was not cleaned yet, so we went to an early dinner. When we came back after a leisurely meal, the room was ready but lacked a refrigerator, requiring us to move to a new room next door. My sister pulled the bedspread back, sat down, and immediately started itching. There were short black hairs all over the bottom sheet; my sister has long, blonde hair. We notified the front office, and they immediately sent housekeeping out to change the sheets. It took several hours for the room to cool down, even with the air conditioner cranked up as high as possible. The barn bathroom door did not close all the way, which was unfortunate as we had three people sharing the room. (We're sisters, but come on... some things are private.) Additionally this second room had no towels, and the bathtub was absolutely filthy with black marks all over the bottom sheet. There was no fire alarm in the room. I requested a call from the hotel manager as he/she was not available when we checked out. A woman called me later, saying she was a manager. She told me that our $120 stay would be refunded; (Unfortunately, I did not write down her name.) I also received an email from Kay Dhaliwal (Manager) which did not mention any refund but acknowledged my concerns and thanked me for my feedback. Days Inn did indeed refund me $120, but then charged me $120 TWICE on my card. Since I have nothing in writing documenting the promised refund from the property, I have no further recourse other than to leave reviews. I sent an email back to Ms. Dhaliwal requesting a follow up on the promised refund, but have not received any response. DO NOT RECOMMEND! DIRTY! Poor management and housekeeping!

The worst of it was the air filter for the air conditioner smelled of cigarette smoke. Thankfully, we had a can of air freshener and just hosed it. Overall, the place wasn't bad. The people in the neighboring room left me wondering if they were trying to sell drugs out of the parking lot. Every time we stepped out, there was anywhere from one to three people at the back of their vehicle. Traffic noise wasn't bad. Actually, there was little to no freeway noise and it was far enough from the city Street that you didn't really hear much go by. Would I stay here again? Probably.
