Way Overpriced! This is the most overpriced lodging I think I have ever used. It's just an old motel with a large but dark and dingy room. I didn't even want to take a shower because it just looked dirty. There are no amenities to speak of, at least nothing that isn't standard anywhere else you might go. One good thing I will mention is that it was quiet when I stayed here. Maybe simply because I was lucky enough not to have an inconsiderate jerk next door with animals. It is "pet friendly" though so don't expect that to be the case if you stay at this place. At the end of the day, the price to stay here off-season was well over $200 for the night. The place should only be charging closer to $90 based on the condition of the room and the lack of amenities. Total ripoff. read more

We booked through Recreation.gov to visit Yosemite . We arrived a little before check in and told to come back as not check in yet. She said she'd get our check in done as we wanted to go into Yosemite. It had been advertised the park is about 35 minutes away - it was about 1 hour 20 minutes (be warned). When we got back the room we were assigned was last one next to the road - loud with traffic and lights of cars in window. Requested to change rooms and were told couldn't move us. Terrible night sleep. Next day requested room cleaned but they only put in towels. The staff are nice but it was really pricey for a not good quality. I will say town of Mariposa is cute. read more

Not a lot of options in Mariposa, but all things considered, this was a decent motel to spend a few days at, when you're in the area specifically as a jumping off point to Yosemite. It's pet friendly, but check ahead that you're reserving a pet friendly room since they are limited. COVID restrictions require they operate at 50 capacity and wait 24 hours before sending in the staff to clean. During this time there is not housekeeping service (which was our preference anyway) but you can ask for more towels or garbage pick up as needed. The room itself smelled exceedingly clean when we checked in but I did my own once over the commonly touched areas with Clorox wipes. Excellent vicinity to the shops and restaurants in Mariposa-walking distance to anywhere we went in town. The room itself is fine for 3 nights (maybe 4 max) and for my boyfriend and I, we were spending long days at Yosemite so we just needed a clean and comfortable place to sleep-this did just fine. Bed was super comfy as were the pillows. A/C was a bit on the louder side but I enjoy sleeping to white noise so it didn't bother me-plus with 90 degree + temps this past weekend, it kept the room nice and cool. There's a pool (which I'm not sure was open-but hey it would come in handy during better times.) Small fridge that worked just fine. In between Mariposa and Yosemite, there's not much else. Even with an hour drive to the Valley, it's about as close as you can get without staying in the park. No frills, reasonable cost and taking safety precautions-overall a completely fine place to sleep for a few nights if you don't need much else. read more

I think this was my worst hotel experience. EVER. From out of order machines to WiFi cutting in & out. But the icing on the cake was us checking out early and we forgot a couple items but they immediately let someone in after us without checking the room and now our items are gone. Over $1100 worth of equipment gone. We spent $500 for 2 nights for this motel. It isn't a lodge. That's a lie. Cute town for driving through but never for staying or stopping. Worst work trip ever. We stayed here for thanksgiving (Wednesday to Saturday). We were told we could check in at 10 am on the phone but then was told we had to wait until 3pm. We did not spend much time in the room besides to sleep. Some of the lights would not work so the room was dark. Fridge was not plugged in when we got there and then one day when we were gone it was unplugged. Did someone go into the room? Our stuff had been moved as well. They left us clean towels and trash bags outside our room. We asked for the trash to be taken out and it didn't happen. The carpet was sticky and dirty. The little cubby the mini fridge was in did not close all the way and would open if we walked buy it. The windows in the bathroom were nailed shut. You could see light coming in from the ac/heater box. Our top sheet was stained with something yellow. We got one coffee pack for the four days we were there. The toilet seat lid was broken, you could not lift it without it falling. The decor was outdated. read more

I wanted to find a hotel near Yosemite that allowed cats and wouldn't break the bank - Mariposa Lodge fit all these criteria and provided a wonderful place for my cat, fiance, and I to relax in. We ended up booking the room through Booking.com since the person we spoke to on the phone said that was the best way to get the lowest rate. We had booked a king room, but since we were the last check in for the night, we ended up with a double instead since it was the last pet friendly room. This was fine by us though because the room was very large, clean, and didn't have any lingering odors that you sometimes get with getting a pet friendly room. The drain in the bathtub was filled with the previous stay's hair (the only reason we noticed this is because our cat loves to seek out long hair to eat it and we saw her trying to get the hair from the drain) and there was not outside lighting on the half of the building we were staying in, so knocking off a star for that. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable, the room smelled and looked clean, and our neighbors were quiet. Couldn't ask for a more convenient place to stay! read more

I wish I had thought to take more photos of how cute the rooms were!! The room I had was immaculate and looked so much nicer than the photos! The place is super quaint and clean, the staff was very friendly, the location was quiet and peaceful. I met a friend for dinner and we found an amazing little spot called the Hideaway for dinner (vegan options!). I took a walk downtown and checked out a couple of cute shops. They price matched my room from an online site that I saw it cheaper on which was great. The property was beautiful and the pool was small but nice too. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!! These people refused to let me cancel my third night despite me trying to reach out to them for days before check in on my refundable reservation. I called them for days afterwards and no one called me back. I only got a call back a month later once the credit card company reached out to them. Horrible service. Never available. Rude staff. Dirty, filthy rooms. Paper thin walls. You're right on the highway so unless you like hearing the noise of traffic all night... stay clear. read more

Mariposa Lodge is a typical motel just outside of Yosemite. We had previously stayed at the Cedar Lodge further up the road about 20-30 minutes but I was tired of the crappy food there. There is nothing else near Cedar Lodge for food. That is how we ended up in Mariposa. Check-In was a breeze and we immediately turned on the heat as it was in the 30's outside. The heat worked great, it is a little loud when it runs but it gets warm. The room was dated but large. The towels had interesting color spots on them so we skipped using them. Overall a 3 star motel for your visit to Yosemite. read more

Cute little place, right by the highway. A little noisy but ok. I think the place had about 50 rooms, of which only approximately 8-10 were occupied. They chose to put us in the room closest to the highway. :-(. The rooms were clean but very dated; still had the push button telephone (that didn't work). No USB charging whatsoever. TV didn't work. Desk clerk couldn't get it working, offered to move us to a different room . . . at 10 o'clock at night!! Lots of other choices in Mariposa, pick one of those. read more

A nice place. Not to quant for a small town motel. Clean spacious room with microwave, small refrigerator, 19" color TV, small pool (which i am sure gets more use in summer), a very steamy hot (but very small) hot tub. Poor cell phone reception in the area due to the mountains. Only few places to eat. But i must say that on my last trip there the choices of restaurants had increased by a handful which was a pleasant surprise. I think it is one of the better places to stay in the area. read more

My husband and I were hired to relocate 2 households out of Yosemite. Do to the volume of work and the time frame, we required to bring up a crew. We needed 3 rooms for 6 days- We searched for rooms and availability. While there were some available, the websites said know one excepted pets. Our kids are grown and our dogs are our kids.... We couldn't leave them at home so began the phone calls. We called the Mariposa lodge and Stormy was very accommodating and even gave us a great room rate. We were able to bring our grill and bbq too! I would highly recommend this place. The rooms are very nice & spacious- plus the town is too cute. read more

This place served its purpose. We stayed the night before rafting with Zephyr. The room is old with no frills. We checked in late and checked out early so really we just needed a bed to sleep on. They had a minifridge, an old TV, and the a/c worked just fine. The staff was nice and the reservation process went smoothly. We reserved a room for $119/night online. Very old vibes, but probably the best you could get in such a small and old town like Mariposa. For a little over a hundred dollars per night, I can live with it. The room was pretty clean. The bathroom is small with little lighting, and the air conditioning is soooo loud. We went to the market at like 10pm and bought some frozen meals after a long day of hiking in Yosemite, and the microwave in the room we stayed in didn't even work!!! read more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mariposa Lodge and we'll be back! It was everything we wanted. The room was clean and comfortable, and they've taken some steps that are great during Covid, like putting the remote in a fresh sleeve. Checking in and out was easy, as they have a little window at the office like at a movie theater to speak to the front desk attendant. Nice sized fridge which was great for our food we wanted to have ready to pack for Yosemite. Can't beat the location. We enjoyed walking around town from the lodge. On our way to Angels Camp. Highway 149 was washed out. Stayed the night in Mariposa and was very comfortable in this lodge. Our room was quite large with a comfortable king size bed. The Mariposa Lodge falsely accused me of smoking in the room and charged me $300. This accusation was made by the housekeeper who alleged the room "smelled heavily of smoke." This is impossible. I did smoke on the balcony which was allowed. What the housekeeper smelled, or might have smelled (I still think she had the wrong room) were the cigarette butts that I put in the trash. They probably got wet and yes, that can reek. But the room could not possibly have "smelled heavily of smoke." Period. They should have at least asked for a second opinion -- and taken out the trash first. The Mariposa Lodge stole $300 from me. Not the best hospitality. read more

A weird, simple, seemingly old motel. Staff at the desk seemed like part time, stressed individuals. While bringing our stuff inside, an older gentlemen, with a not too happy wife, asked me about the TV in my room. Apparently, his only had one football channel. Not using the TV for our room, I told him I did not know anything and that I hoped his stay would improve. The bed was a bit stiff, but not bad, and seemed clean. Furniture was a bit old school but not necessary to write about. Heater worked well for November 2018 (it was a bit chilly here). Bathroom seemed a bit dirty with a mosquito in the shower that landed on my head. Bathroom window looked down at a gully with some foliage, and looked out to a subway across the way. Not all rooms would have such a view with their location (but I do not have enough info on that). Walls were thin. We could here the upset couple speak a few times, but not what they were saying. A couple coughs were heard We could hear another couple on the other side of us, but not much. We did not pay attention, and they probably heard us watching Jeopardy on a tablet, yelling answers. We had two amazing nights rest at the newly renovated Mariposa Lodge (Americas Best Value). With it's proximity to the Yosemite Valley, the rates were reasonable and the rooms clean and comfortable. The only thing that keeps this from being a 5 star rating is that an employee threw us some major attitude about being in the hot tub after 10pm. We had a long day of biking and dancing at a wedding and the tub was a nice way to end our evening. There are no signs posted indicating a cut off time for a soak. We'll be back -- hopefully for time where we can enjoy all of the amenities. read more

Good: It's cheap and mostly clean Bad: The girl who checked us in on a Friday was awful. She was so so so annoyed that someone checked in. To a reserved room. So we looked at the room, and the TV was from circa 98. An old square box that probably weighs 50 pounds. Not to mention it's an adjoining room and the neighbors were already loud. So we asked to be switched to a different room, which was marginally better. But that desk clerk was SO MAD that we did that. "It's a huge hassle to switch rooms." It looked to me like the hassle was erasing a name and writing it in a different place. I totally sympathize, erasing is really hard work and I'm always worn out after it. More bad: Wi-Fi. It's non-existent. We didn't see it pop up on any device once. Maybe it's in some weird corner of the two-tiered motel, but if you're hoping to use it, abandon hope now. More bad: parking. Not a huge deal, but if you don't get in early enough, don't expect to get a spot anywhere near your room So if you like cheap, but hate wi-fi, this is the place for you. read more

My hiking group booked 6 rooms and one of the adjacent apartments for our annual Yosemite trek (May 17-19, 2013). The rooms were clean, quiet and roomy. Our group was accommodated with adjacent rooms on the quiet, lower tier of the property, where we had an easy walk to the one of the Mariposa Lodge's apartments, which they suggested when we told them we needed a larger area for food preparation and a pre-hike picnic. We had a fantastic barbecue on the cool little patio in front of the apartment (and since it was on the uphill side of the property and facing away from the rooms, we didn't disturb any guests). The staff went over-and-above in so many areas. In rooms that were shared (most of them), the staff split the cost and allowed each roommate to pay by credit card. Because members of our group arrived in stages -- in several cases, the person to whom the room was booked arrived hours after his/her roomates -- the staff made sure that everyone got into his/her room, based on the roommate list I supplied. Two members of our group registered for the hike after we had filled the rooms, but the staff at the Mariposa Lodge were on-the-ball about wheeling extra beds into those two rooms. Moreover, every staff member I talked to on the phone before our arrival was enthusiastic and insightful, giving us great ideas for pre- and post-hike activities in town. EVERYTHING in town is within walking distance, and the property's slight recess from the Highway 140 provides a great noise barrier. The only negative was the small hot tub, which was only lukewarm during most of our two-night stay. But that barely detracted from an absolutely awesome experience. I've stayed in plenty of high-end hotels for business travel, but this was one of the best (if not THE BEST) customer-service experiences I've ever had in the lodging industry. I hit Yosemite every summer -- always from a different place. But Mariposa Lodge will now be my permanent Yosemite headquarters. read more

I had one fabulous night and two terrible nights here. Let me tell you why. First they put us in an old big (wasted space) room nowhere near a garden (they advertised near a garden) that smelled like a locker room/dorm with the TV (old tube like) so far away from the bed, torn old rug, old looking comforters, no desk and a walk-in weird dorm like shower (no bath). So I went on to the website and saw these pictures of cute clean little rooms with LCD TVs, desks and baths. I thought "oh, hell no." so I went to the front and got moved (by a nice gal) to a newer room near the garden (hello!) that was just as pictured. It was quiet all night. We were very happy. We thought "this is great"... So, coming back from Yosemite the next day we noticed a BIG tour bus parked in front with loads of people hanging out everywhere. I felt like I just entered a party. No biggie. Then I walk in my room and I could hear LOUD talking in the room next door. The walls are paper thin. This is no joke. This went on 'til 1am. We were happy it finally stopped and moved on with our vacation. Next morning we could hear some sort of kick ball in the parking lot so I looked out a saw about 15 people throwing a ball and it was hitting peoples' cars. I called the front and they said this was an Australian group and they went out and it stopped suddenly. So we get home from Yosemite and see people (25+) out in front of the rooms smoking and holding beers. I thought "Yikes. We've been invaded" as we walked by we got all sorts of bad looks as if we intruded on their party. As if! Very intimidating. So 10PM came and the party got even worse so I called the front and asked if they could quiet them down a bit. Nice front guy goes out and tells them and they stop for about 30 minutes. This happened ALL NIGHT until my other quiet neighbor opened the door at 3am and screamed "QUIET DOWN NOW". Scared the hell out of me and I even had earplugs in (thank God). Then you could hear a quiet Aussie voice say "f*ck off!" and it was finally quiet. So the Aussie party died at 3am thanks to my neighbor. The front people are very nice and have admitted that they can't control these Aussies that party all night, pee on peoples' cars, cops get called out there, etc. but they still take them in for the tour bus money. Maybe them removing the chairs in front of the rooms outside would help a little?!? I think the chairs only invite smoking/drinking. Stay at your own risk as my stay was from Tuesday to Friday and not a "party" weekend. If they can keep this lodge quiet and renovate ALL the rooms they would have a really good thing. It's really too bad. If you want to stay here, ask if a tour bus will be there on the dates you're staying. If they say "yes", RUN. PROS: Value. Nice staff. Location. The renovated rooms. Reserved a "large" room for our family of 5. We were checked into a very small room. When we inquired at the desk, they said all the rooms were the same. This is definitely not the case. With the doors on the outside and large windows, you can clearly see our room was significantly smaller. The description also stated newly remodeled. Also not the case as it was decorated in 70's honey oak wood with matching oak office side chairs, highlighted with brass light fixtures. Will not be back. read more

I stayed here my PRE Yosemite Half Dome trip. And it was a pleasant experience. Clean cozy rooms, soft comfy beds, nice shower-restroom. During check in I was in their lobby for max 3 minutes. Good thing cause I wanted access to my room NOW. The chick who helped me was aight... so so.. Rooms are comfy as I anticipated. And what I really liked about this place was the surrounding stores actually. The cozy dim lit restaurants that serve the perfect glass of wine, the cute boutique gift stores that sell the cutest summer dresses, kitten heels, colored pebbles and other attention catching items.... Oh and there are some small "locals" bar/pub things. I always find people in these types of small towns to be ULTRA super friendly. And they were! So stopped here before hiking half dome. Rested the night before, drove an hour to to the park and hiked... and it was all good. Honestly, its a nice place for the pit stop. Good call! You know who you are! ;-) read more

Pros: Affordable; close to Yosemite. Cons: Weak wi-fi signal Reasonably priced motel close to Yosemite. Courtyard arrangement with quaint landscaping. Clean and quiet, our room had a view of a creek in the back. A few extras like a pool with hot tub and refrigerator (Tip: Remember to turn it on! My delicious dinner from Savoury's had to get tossed because the fridge is turned off between guests). You get a $10 off voucher for Charles Street Dinner House upon check-in. We stayed towards the back of the hotel (away from the street), so it was less noisy, but the wi-fi signal didn't carry very well. I only did what I had to on my tablet, as the signal made waiting for constant reloads cumbersome. No breakfast, but it is centrally located and within walking distance from a ton of restaurants, including the Sugar Pine Cafe for breakfast. Despite the wi-fi signal I would come back if I'm ever in the area. Note that it is called "Mariposa Lodge," but it also goes by the chain name "America's Best Value Inn." read more

I booked online. The room left much to be desired. I get it's "low buget" but for as little as $750 per room it could be decent. The electric heater's knob fell off if you touched it. There was no thermostat. So you turn it on and go to sleep and wake up sweating. So you turn it off. Then you wake up freezing. Get a heater with a thermostat. You'll save money on electricity! The door has no gasket around it. You can see daylight around three sides of it. Leaks air like a sieve. Spend $40 and get a rubber gasket... you'll save money! There are no phones in the rooms. My cell phone didn't have service. What if something happened and I needed to call 911? The office was never open. Said 1-9 when I was there. No phone in the room. Can't call them. Rang the doorbell. No answer. What if I needed something? One pillowcase had dried blood on it the other had dried red paint. You can't buy new pillowcases? The wifi was free... it worked. There were two coffee packets. The bed was comfortable. I guess that's something. Finding an A/C outlet is impossible. There's a powerstrip hanging in midair under the desk because the cord isn't long enough. The TV is smaller than my laptop. The built in shower lost its door long ago... a lonely spring-activated tube holds a shower curtain up. Sad. I wouldn't stay here again... there are too many options. Honestly, it's like the owners don't care to make it any nicer. Too bad... you're close to San Francisco and San Jose... maybe people would actually stay there again if it wasn't so bleak. read more
