Had a nice stay here, would recommend this hotel. A bit of a street noise problem in the morning, and the air conditioner was loud. It was clean, it was comfortable, everything worked, everything was stocked up. I have stayed in far, far worse hotels on this 7 day trip, so this place was a dream compared to those nightmares. This place cost less than the nightmare places, so you are getting quite a bargain staying here. Even with the noise issue, I would rather stay here than pay way more for a filthy, run-down, disaster area like we stayed at 6 days later. Count your blessings and be thankful this place is the way it is. Believe me, it is SO much better than some other places.

This wasn't a bad hotel for a quick weekend get-away. The pool area was really nice with the setup and colors. Didn't feel like your typical hotel pool. The one down side I would mention is the rooms aren't super clean, and the beds aren't the best.

So I'm between houses and decided to stay in this hotel because it wasn't expensive and is conveniently located for my housing search. I checked in around 4ish and was greeted by friendly staff. The woman set up my handicapped accessible room and sent me on my way. My room was clean, comfy and super cute. It came equipped with a mini fridge, microwave and small seating area aside from the desk. The barn doors separate the bathroom which was very clean. I was given a shower chair to put into the bathtub which isn't super accessible, but since I'm smaller and able to lift myself, I made it work. The bed was soft and comfortable. I went to the lobby at 9am for breakfast. There was coffee available and you could pick up a "to-go" bag from front desk. There was a breakfast sandwich, muffin and granola bar inside. It was a little strange that guests weren't required by staff to wear a mask and there was even a woman behind the front desk who didn't have hers on! Like we're inside a small lobby, make sure you have your mask on, it isn't that difficult. There were literally people getting coffee on one side without a mask while the guy stood talking to the woman behind the desk who both didn't have masks on. The hotel was a little more full than I had anticipated and had a different crowd due to spring break, however, my stay was enjoyable and for the most part, I had a good time.

Visiting Miami for my high school reunion, I had three choices for a hotel - Holiday Inn or LaQuinta at Caribbean Boulevard and U.S. 1 in Cutler Bay, or the Quality Inn Miami South at S.W. 145th and U.S. 1 in Palmetto Bay. With the reunion party at the American Legion, I opted for the Quality Inn as the hotel was only a mile away from the event venue. Booking the hotel online through Choice Hotels, I opted for value and convenience over luxury. About $83.00 a night at the Quality Inn, including loyalty points and a bottle of water (with potato chips) upon check in. Jeffrey and Nestor were working the front desk upon my arrival. Polite and friendly, they inquired whether I wanted a room on the first or second floor. I chose the first floor and was quickly checked into room 106. King size bed, refrigerator, microwave oven, and a flat screen television - the room was clean and smoke free. Hotel has no elevator, but keep in mind it's only two stories and floor options were made available upon check in. Skip the "free" breakfast. The restaurant at the Quality Inn Miami South is closed at the moment and breakfast is being outsourced. While breakfast contains several of the normal staples such as bagels, bread, English muffins, cold/hot cereal, fruit, coffee, milk and various juices - the hot eggs and ham (with onions???) - weren't very appetizing. During non-breakfast hours, you will find a coffee station in the hotel foyer leading to the restaurant. Coffee was hot - sugar/sweetener, cream, etc. - were readily available. Pool area was clean and nostalgic of old Miami. Plenty of parking - the Quality Inn Miami South didn't appear at full occupancy for a weekend in Miami. William E. Lewis Jr. Vero Beach, Florida

Horrible place to stay. Mold in the bathroom and around the sink. Air conditioner cover broken and sounded like a lawn mower. Filthy behind bathroom door. Lamp on desk looked like it had never been wiped off. This was the SECOND room! First room, same mold problem. Light over vanity didn't work. Shower bar had been pulled away from wall so curtain would not stay in place. Filthy behind bathroom door (seeing a pattern here?). Apparently they have never heard of bleach, or checking behind doors. Steer clear of this place.

At $112/night, this place is of little value. Room 114 had a musty odor to it. But the odor didn't emanate from the carpet or any other fabric. It originated from the A/C unit. I'm guessing that filters aren't changed regularly. Because of this lack of attention to detail, any guest in this room will be greeted rudely. The $112/night isn't standard however. There were several events going on in Miami during my stay, so that was reflected in the price. I wouldn't pay more than $50/night to stay here to be honest, even with the free breakfast. The free breakfast is pretty basic. Below is the list of offerings: -bagels (cinnamon raisin & plain) -english muffin -traditional muffin -cereal (cheerios, frosted mini wheats, special k, frosted flakes) -scrambled egg (microwaved) -bacon or sausage (microwaved) -yogurt -oatmeal packets -coffee/tea/apple juice/orange juice/milk -fruit (banana, apple, orange) At least the tv in the room was a flat screen, too bad every channel had static. On the bright side, the motel staff (front desk and housekeeping) were very nice. They probably never spent a night in room 114...

My parents came into town and stayed at this hotel only because it's right around the corner from my apartment. They have stayed here once before and it's obviously nothing spectacular, but its fine to rest their head at night. This visit was completely different. Their hotel room was the size of a box, my mom's feet were completely black after walking on it for less than an hour, they killed a roach that they found by the bed, the shower was missing part of the door so when they showered, water was all over the bathroom floor AND when they came back to the room on the 2nd day, it stunk of cigarette smoke! Breakfast was being served in a small hotel room because the restaurant still was not ready and it was just a terrible, ghetto setup. They didn't mention anything to the manager because their stay was very short and they were not in the room that much due to spending time w their family. Therefore, packing up and relocating to a different room was not worth the time. The morning of checkout, they told the front desk all of these things and absolutely nothing was done nor offered to them for their next visit. Unfortunately, they will not be staying here on their next visit. A simple gesture from them could have changed this outcome.

Walking distance to a Publix, the mall, bakery, etc. The hotel checkin is on the 6th floor, the first floor is mainly a seating area and concierge. They offer free hot breakfast, mini fridge and microwave in the room, cruise shuttle at time of this review is priced at $12 with pick up times at 10a, 11a, and 12p. If you miss breakfast, they had breakfast bags with fruit and other grab and go items. You will need your room key to access the laundry room and guest floors. There is no carpet in the room I was in (basic king- not the elite level) and pets are not allowed. Service animals only. The hotel has a lobby bar, three restaurants are located right next door (Sproutz, Batch Gastropub, and Shahs of Kabob). I dined at Sproutz and Shahas of Kabob and both are good, but they are not affiliated with the hotel. I stayed 3 nights prior to my cruise and I really enjoyed my stay. The air conditioner worked with no issues, pillows are very soft, bed was firm, but not uncomfortable and I slept better in that bed, than my own. There is a master light switch to control the overhead light in the entry and bathroom. You can operate them separately (it just takes some flipping of lights to figure it out). Decent water pressure and nice, hot water at night. Morning time I suggest getting your shower in early. Hot water is still present but not as hot as it was the night before. Tip- I took my shower at 5/6am the morning of checkout and the water was hot and perfect for a nice shower before leaving for cruise. Staff was always smiling, friendly and willing to assist. Carlos at the concerige desk is very helpful, ask for his recommendations and he is more than happy to assist. The 7th floor has the laundry facility, but many machines were out of order. This is going on my pre cruise hotel list because it was the perfect hotel and the perfect location. It was about a 15min ride to the cruise port and airport. The cruise port ride was booked for 8am, so I beat the 9am bumper car cruise port traffic. The video I posted is short and quick, but a glimpse of the room

I checked in on the app the day before and picked the room. We parked in the garage, went to the lobby, and got our room keys. As we went to the room, there was a sign on the door indicating the room was occupied. I was surprised and ended up going back to the lobby to see what happened. It turns out that the app was glitchy and we were put in a different room number. The lady behind the counter made adjustments and we were able to stay on the same floor as what I originally picked, but in a different room. The room had a king bed, a fridge, microwave, a TV, drawers, and a bathroom with a shower. It was very clean. We got two drink vouchers to redeem at the lobby/pool bar, which was a plus, to enjoy while we were at the pool. The hotel has a fitness center as well. The continental breakfast provided a selection of coffee and juices for the beverages. The food items consisted of a waffle bar, different types of pastries, and breakfast foods to choose from. They offered a little more than some of the other locations I have been at.

My gf and I stopped through here on our way out before boarding our flights later in the afternoon. If you're toting your luggage and not a hotel guest, you will have to find another hotel to store your luggage while enjoying this most decadent brunch experience. Luckily we arrived early enough to our reservations to sort that out. Reservations are a must if you don't want to wait. The restaurant is gorgeous with various spaces designed differently but keeps to the exotic Asian theme. Dining in the atrium near the water feature in the middle with stage for the musicians is where we had our experience. Olga was our server. She brought us our special beverages not available at the bar: Bloody Mary's and endless bubbly in our glasses The offerings here are more than I can name, but there is something to satisfy every craving. The favorite for me is the caviar bar. It comes with all the proper fixings on a blini with Crème fraîche. Do you need a vodka shot to go with? Yes, that's also available also at the caviar station. Fresh raw oysters, clams or shrimp cocktail is available in abundance with everything else here. The ceviche was great. I passed on all the various noodles but had to have some lamb curry and basmati rice- delicious! I had some Peking Duck and leg of lamb at the meat station. The filet mignon and lamb chops was ordered and brought to the table. The leg of lamb and filet were slightly dry but still good. The lamb chops with chimichurri sauce was amazing- nuances of vibrant flavors. Assorted fresh fruits were a colorful collection of enticements. I saw some papaya and enjoyed its fresh, sweet juiciness. I am not a dessert person but had to try the key like pie. Then of course, the matcha dessert is a sitting temptation next to the pie. So, my dessert spoils were more than intended. What the hell right? Lol That was the sweet ending to my Setai brunch. There was so much more such as bread, fried stuff, eggs, bagel station, toast etc. One can only eat so much. I stuck to enjoying my favorites. The experience is pricey but so worth it. First, the good, it's an awesome location on the southern tip of Brickell Key. The pool was wonderful and gets mostly continuous sun exposure during the day. My balcony faced west so I had sun during the afternoon as well (perfect for a tan). Honestly, I never felt like I needed to leave the resort being a pool guy. The base price room was spacious and mostly clean with a separate shower and tub. The bad- the service wasn't great here. I felt like anytime I needed something I had to ask 3-4 times before staff would remember (including freebies that were part of the room rate). The one time I asked a concierge for assistance he was super brash telling me to go talk to the front desk. The property felt old and in need of a renovation (again it's being demolished so not surprising in that context). Also, a lot of the ads for the resort promote its beach which no longer exists- it's now a model home for the condos going in. The hotel is pricey and gratuity is auto-included at 20% for everything which would be fine if the service was better and they didn't ask for additional tip on top of it. I wish I stayed here 20+ years ago because it felt like in its hay day this was a swanky hotel. Today, it's tired, on its last months, and the staff really don't seem like 5-star talent (as a benefit to the doubt most people would be unmotivated if things were shutting down too). Part of me is excited to try the new hotel whenever it opens, part of me wonders if the poor service is just part of the brand. The gym was tacky- literally they just through equipment in 6ish guest rooms with the doors propped open. Kind of funny but not 5-star hotel caliber.

Maybe someone called in that day because I felt bad for the young man. Once we checked in, everything was smooth sailing from there. The lobby and bar area were very inviting and everyone I came into contact with was friendly. The room I had was very tiny, but it was just me so I had no complaints. If you have more than one person in a room it will be very crowded as the large bed by the window takes up the majority of the space. That said, the room itself was extremely small. It had all the essentials, but there wasn't much space to move around or unpack, so it felt a bit cramped, especially for a longer stay. If you're planning just a short visit or don't mind compact accommodations, it works, but it's definitely something to keep in mind. The staff was friendly and helpful, which made the stay smoother despite the limited room size. Overall, I'd say M Citizen is a great choice for its location and vibe, but pack light and don't expect spacious quarters.
