It had a good variety and seemed like it would be quite accommodating to many allergies. My part, my teenager left a couple things in his room, which many would consider junk and/or worthless. One of the two items was of sentimental value. Instead of throwing them away, the front desk called and informed us they were left behind. We asked them to put the things aside and that we would be back to get them shortly. When I returned to the hotel, the items were waiting for me at the front desk. If I'm ever back in the area, I will definitely be staying there again.

Breakfast had a good variety of hot items. 2 working elevators, so limited wait time. The downside was a limited dog walking areas. Pluses were walking distance to 2 fast food restaurants and one convenience store. Strange that the fire pit was not activated, so a cool September evening could have been nice to sit outside. If the pool is closed down, it's time for the fire in my opinion. I will absolutely book here again.

When we arrived, we quickly…read morenoticed that the bathroom was dirty (it seems like it was quickly wiped down with a wet cloth), stubble in the sink, hair on the ground, the hand soap was empty, the door deadbolt didn't work, there was a random spot on the comforter that looked questionable (like someone wiped their dirty food hands on it), pillows had stains on them, people were slamming doors until midnight and the room smelled like dirty feet that no amount of Lysol could get out. The ONLY plus of our stay and the only reason I'm giving 2 stars was the kind gentleman (8/8/24 in the evening) at the front desk who gave us extra blankets and refilled our hand soap for us. As an IHG member who travels for work, this is my least favorite hotel I've stayed in! Super bummed to have to find a new place.

When I explained that I no longer wanted to speak with the representative who was not helping me and asked to speak with a supervisor, I was hung up on. I called back and, unbelievably, had another similarly unprofessional experience. I again asked to speak with a supervisor, but they were unable or unwilling to connect me with one. I was simply trying to find out the rate for a room. It should not be this difficult. If a potential customer becomes frustrated because they cannot get a straightforward answer, lecturing them about their tone rather than addressing the problem is not customer service. Hanging up on someone who asks for a supervisor is even more concerning. In a way, I'm glad this happened before I booked a room because it gave me a very clear indication of the level of customer service I could expect. I will absolutely take my business elsewhere and will not stay at this property.

It has added so much depth and feeling to my life. One thing that it has not improved, however, is long car rides. I don't think I need to explain more, but children (and babies in particular) are logistical nightmares. Thank God for Smyrna rest stop. Conventiently close to the highway, it offers fairly clean bathrooms, gardens, trees and a full playground. The only thing it lacks is a decent lunch option. (I think this is a state issue, DE doesn't allow fast food at state rest areas) Realistically then, this may be the best legally, most legally compliant rest area in all of Delaware, and a welcome oasis for road weary parents and babies.

The rest area appears to have originally been built to serve US-13, before DE-1 was constructed. When traveling southbound on DE-1, finding the entrance can be a little confusing. Fortunately, there is a direct ramp from the parking area back onto southbound DE-1. The grounds include gardens, picnic areas, plenty of parking, and numerous other amenities. Depending on where you park, however, it can be a fairly long walk to the restrooms. Like the somewhat confusing access from DE-1, the walk is only a minor inconvenience at an otherwise outstanding public rest area.
