I want to say thank you to Tim for his honesty and great work that his crew did on my 2014 Lexus RX350. I had a few places saying that I needed a complete new transmission due to the shuttering that was happening. I am a heavy truck mechanic and my fathers Honda was having issues but with 220000 miles I was doubtful it could be repaired so I decided to bring it here based on the reviews since I don't do much with automatic transmissions and from just talking on the phone I could tell this was a good place! Got the car in and they diagnosed it and told me what it seemed to need to fix it but couldn't say for sure it would work with the miles on the tranny so they gave me prices on used and new and I asked if I could just pay them for diagnosing and put it in myself seeing as I am a mechanic and he said sure just give me 40$ which is crazy good deal to diagnose I would say! WARNING: Be prepared to pay triple the cost. As having experience in the transmission business in working for Jetaway Transmission in Johnston, R.I., I am well versed in all areas of transmission work. I sent an email to Quality Transmission to provide a price for a front input shaft seal ($4.95). I do not have a lift to use is why I contacted Quality Transmission, even specifying my credentials.Tim called and he said "we would have to look at the car", (Point Number 1). This is the hook tossed out to everyone, only to add further charges. I said, "What do you have to look at, I just need a front seal". Tim said, "That's it". I replied, "That's it". Tim said the cost would be $500.00 to $600.00. That is highway robbery. I asked Tim what do they charge for labor". Tim said, "Ninety-five dollars an hour" ($95.00). I said, " How many hours to replace a front seal". Hesitation by Tim, then saying unsurely, "Three and one-half hours". I said, "I worked with transmissions and I could remove a TH200 and replace the unit in one and 1/2 hours, "All day long". *Take note, "3 1/2 hours" at $95.00 per hour equal "$332.50". How does this equate to $500.00 to $600.00 dollars? Tim started getting uneasy and said, "That's what the book calls for". Tim then said it would be $400.00. Changing the money options. I said again," How to you come up with $400.00". Tim said, "We have to add fluid". I said, "What fluid". Tim was hesitant again. Transmission shops get what they can steal as based upon the individual. Actually, when any remove the front input shaft seal on a TH200, you may, may lose less than a ¼ pint. Accompany this with a trivial fluid loss upon disconnecting the transmission lines and you lose about the same amount. Not any would lose more than a pint, if that. It would only stand to reason that all the 5 star comments are fictitious and have been pre-planned in trying to deceive others. Quality Transmission hopes to entrap the unsuspecting. Just another dishonest transmission shop among the many. We would never conduct any business there or recommend Quality transmission. * If you do not mind paying triple the cost, please feel free to have them take your money. * I left the business many years ago due to unscrupulous business principles. Top notch outfit right here. I had just finished up snow plowing after a major storm when my reverse went out on my Sierra. Within minutes of calling Tim, he said bring it straight down. Despite it being a warranty issue, it was still prioritized and they managed to get it back to me in just a couple of days. I know this is routine stuff for them, however, the entire transmission needed to come out with internals rebuilt. Keep in mind that the underside of the truck was caked in packed snow and salt from plowing! I expected they would have to wait a few days for it to melt but this didn't stop them from getting it done with the quickness. Very professional and superb customer service with a smile. One day during the winter I was having transmission issues while heading out for errands and by the time I got to the store my truck started getting caught up and jerking before finally getting stuck. I thought I was screwed and called my girlfriend to look up shops online in the area I could have it towed to. I had driven by Quality several times and it always seemed busy so I called them. Tim (owner or related to the owner) answered the phone and asked me to describe my issues and he walks me through several steps to try to determine the problem. He realizes the truck had never made it back out of four wheel drive and got stuck. What happened is that I had replaced the 4x4 control module with a revised replacement that required different steps to pull the truck out of four wheel drive as compared to the old module where you just had to flip a switch. Tim walked me through getting my truck back into 2 wheel drive over the phone within a few minutes and voila! I was ready to go again. His shop was only minutes away so I decided to stop in and thank him in person because he very easily could have told me to have it towed in and charge my $75/hr for diagnostics. Turns out he did all this while eating his lunch. Because of this I'll go to this shop the next time I require a mechanic. Note: I would have given 5 stars but didn't think it was fair seeing as I didn't actually have any repairs done there but I believe 5 star service is attainable given my previous experience. read more

A word to the wise: If you need any transmission work in the Raynham/Taunton area (or even further out), look no further than these guys. They are the only guys in the area who have the capability to do transmission jobs right the first time. This is an area better left to specialists rather than the big area shops, which I've heard all say they do transmission work but then end up outsourcing the job to this shop and then upcharging their customers. When I realized my clutch was slipping, I was in a jiffy and called a number of shops in the area. Most of them did not do transmission work, and for those that claimed they did, they did not seem to instill confidence that they could handle the job or were experts in it. I came across these folks via word of mouth, and I was not disappointed. They took the time to handle and diagnose my car carefully, and in fact got the job done same day, which was awesome! They were even kind enough to give me a lift to work so I would not lose any time. Don't be deceived by the shop's somewhat dated appearance; they took care of my car like it was their own, and spent a lot of time trying to make sure they diagnosed everything correctly the first time, something I have not always experienced at the big shops or at the dealer. Even after the repairs were finished, they did additional testing and diagnosis to make sure all the problems were fixed and no additional problems remained. I even took my car back to them for some non-transmission, routine maintenance work. I had a short-list of 3 or 4 items I needed them to check out and/or repair, and they handled each one professionally and competently - great attention to details! Another plus is that there are many auto parts stores in the nearby area, so 95% of parts that would be needed can be sourced same or at latest next business day, so waiting for parts is usually not an issue. I'm always a fan of supporting mom and pops, and these guys fit the bill. They are neither "expensive" nor "cheap;" they are fairly and reasonably priced for the quality of work they perform. Don't hesitate to bring your car to these folks, they will take great care of it! I have no hesitation in recommending them. read more

I had just got word that my transmission was the reason I couldn't get past 40 without a problem so I decided to look around and by chance drove by Quality...best decision I ever made! Tim is a true professional in a day where that is seldom seen, he drove me home and rather than act like so many out there and talk me into a replacement he fixed it and for as fair a price as I could ask for, just a great experience and the transmission felt like it was new! So a month passes and I realize my battery light is on even though I replaced it recently, decided since I had a great experience the first time I'd have Tim check it out, now this alternator was toast but for the price to replace it with a new one, I'm glad I chose Tim and Quality, another great job! I'm writing this 6 months later because I haven't had a single problem since I brought it to them and today Tim called just to see how everything is going!
