They roast their coffee beans in house and it's delicious, they also sale bags of whole beans for traveler's to take home with them. The coffee alone is perfect but they also have interesting drink concoctions to try, I ordered the 13 moons which had flavors of blackberries and slight nuttiness from hazelnut's, almost like a peanut butter and jelly coffee, which sounds weird but it was delicious! The staff were all super friendly and happy to serve us, the shop was decorated with cute vintage chairs inside and out back has relaxed seating that overlooks a little creek and was absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. If you like overly sweet coffee prepared by someone who seems annoyed you exist, this is the place for you! I tried the first fire and I'll give it credit for a unique flavor combo. I'm glad I tried it but wouldn't order it again. We also had a vanilla cold brew and rated it 4/10. read more

This is about the coffee. Not the food or specialty drinks. I'm a coffee person. I roast coffee. I drink black coffee mostly, occasional Americano or espresso. Not being pretentious, just to let you know I take coffee seriously. So do these folks. They roast on a 12 kg Diedrich IR-12 and source their green stock mostly from Columbia. All fair trade. The roast master lived in Columbia for several years and is married to a Columbian native. He can easily discuss the impact of climate on coffee growing, the socio-economic impact of price fluctuations of such a massive commodity, the flavor profiles of various growing regions as well as deftly produce some fine roasts. He knows wet from dry processed and can tell you how far past first crack he took the roast and the impact it had on the flavor profile. He knows his stuff and roasts an excellent cup of coffee. The whole beans I bought were roasted to just before second crack and were delicious. Qualla Java is in the Qualla Boundary, home of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI). The owners are "three enrolled members of Federally recognized Indigenous Nations and a Colombian national." It's a beautiful, mountainous area where elk graze on the roadside next to the rushing streams with water clear enough to see the trout. The beauty belies the ugly history of the area and the treatment of the Cherokee by the US. The people were friendly and happy to talk about what they do and love. They roast very fine coffee. Oh, my wife said her cold latte was good, my Americano was very tasty. read more

Coffee was great. But everything else could be better. From out of town so first time coming in. As I entered I look one of the employees in the eye right by the door and get no greeting. No greeting from the few behind the counter. As I looked at the menu, as another customer was coming in they were figuring assuming what drink they would order. As I stood around the register I was just ignored for a few moments while they chat. Finally placed my order. Then when it was ready all was said was "there's that." Maybe that's normal around here. But it just felt like a high school operation. But like I said the coffee was good. Would be nice if it was more friendly and inviting inside. read more

The service was terrible, from the get go. We got ignored from the time we entered- finally we got helped. I needed to use the bathroom which was blocked by two stools. I asked if i could use the bathroom and was told they where just cleaned and for me to go and use the public bathroom outside. The young girl behind the counter said they cleaned it for today. Really- im a paying customer and your business is open .... I'm supporting your business and your tribe (happily so)... and thats how we are treated.!??? Please don't get a bad rap for others. The flavor of the coffee here is just so good! I got the Rattlesnake special which if I remember correctly is an iced latte with brown sugar & cinnamon. It is to die for!! Very busy, so obviously good. Quick in and out. Magnificent back seating area on the river. I ordered what the woman ahead of me had. She giggled. The order taker apparently punched my order wrong. A caramel frap came out without whip cream. A different lady asked, what did you order? I said, I don't know...but it was supposed to have whip cream. Serious, they all were serious and hard working, she said well you have to specifically order whip cream to get whip cream. Great java spot to start your morning! They served many different types of both hot and cold drinks that were very flavorful. Very different combinations of flavors than your typical coffee shop. I had the Raven Mocker which was a chocolate, white chocolate, blackberry and vanilla latte with cocoa. Really liked the addition of the blackberry - truly pleasant. This truly just a coffee shop that sells coffee drinks only - not really any food to go with. Great vibe inside and they have an outdoor patio that overlooks the river so definitely sit outside on a nice day to relax to the sounds of the water!! Highly recommend!!! read more

Was so excited to stop by this cafe for a coffee. I ordered a iced caramel latte, I was excited to try it let's just say I will NEVER be back. The " coffee " I received wasn't even coffee. There was no coffee taste what so ever. The 3 people working were talking about how bad Starbucks was.( Starbucks is SO MUCH BETTER than this place) and someone walked in and got a coffee without paying before I got the coffee I ordered, they may have had relations to someone but I paid and was waiting just for someone to come in and get his before me. We randomly decided we wanted a good quick coffee stop on our visit and I'm so happy we came across this place. SO many options and ideas to try. I couldn't make up my mind and the cashier/barista was so helpful and nice. Also love that they have a ton of reusable metal straws as a option to purchase.
