Here's the longer-ish story of what happened in between the amazing trip and my nightmare one star review. Friends of ours contacted Vicky with intentions to meet us out in Maui. Upon checking our reservation, Vicky told our friends that our condo was no longer reserved for our dates because the owner had changed. We had no notification of this or when it happened. If our friends hadn't inquired, we would have never known until the check in instructions the week before leaving or perhaps not at all. That is when she finally gave us the option for a full refund, but this was after we had rebooked our flights/cars/PTO after being told we couldn't get a refund back in May 2020 when we rescheduled to May 2021. Anyhow, Jake at Aloha Vacation Villas made everything right and totally worth our while. The villa we were relocated to was nothing short of amazing. Although we had a 5-star experience in the end, I have to dock a star for the long, tedious initial experience and poor organization/communication by Vicky in the beginning of all this.

From our 30 plus years of experience, they are the most flexible on date changes and they make sure that everything is working before we arrive. Occasionally something breaks, usually our kids or ourselves. When I call for maintenance assistance, the Aloha owner, Jake, answers the phone himself. First of all after arriving at 2:30, we were told by the front desk that they were not allowed to let us check in any earlier than 3pm because Maui Dreams Come True gets mad, so we had to get their permission to do early check in. We called, and already knew that Misty would not answer, nor call us back, and that indeed was the case. So we went to the grocery store which is conveniently located across the street and came back an half an hour later, and got our room key. We opened the door and was hit in the face with a horrible old smell. It was obvious that this unit had been not used anytime recent, as it was over 90 degrees inside, and definitely not clean smelling. The comforter on the bed was disgustingly stained, and reeked of old body odor. I removed it immediately and threw it in the closet. There was another comforter in the closet that stunk just as bad. No blanket on the bed, just mis-matched sheets. I used an entire bottle of Fre-breeze to try to get the smell out. The bathroom was the worst I have ever been in. Dirty, and looks like someone either threw up on the wall behind the toilet or urinated and wasn't cleaned off. The molding around the bathroom was also removed leaving exposed glue, chipped painted surfaces from where someone tore it off and never replaced it. Some funky light that looked like a retro 50's style with extremely low light, most likely a candle light. Awful! The wood door and molding was obviously the original when the place was built, some 40 years ago, very warn and outdated. The kitchen had new appliances, however notes left on the refrigerator said not to adjust the temperature or it would not work. We put our food in at 3pm and by 8pm (after calling Misty to say it wasn't cooling off, she sent maintenance) it was registering over 50 degrees. Not safe food temps. She did tell me that food sitting in a hot car would cause the refrigerator to take longer to cool off. Seriously? I'm 54 years old, and have used a refrigerator for my whole life. I guess Hawaiian refrigerators have different working mechanisms than our main land ones. Our AC unit located in the living room area was working full force but not cooling off the unit. I looked at the levers on the windows, and three to four of them were open so all the air was blowing outside, while the heat coming inside. I tried to close them, which did not work. I ended up fashioning the curtain over the open levers, and used my sneakers to hold the curtain closed so the AC would work. At this point, we are beyond disappointed, and haven't stopped sweating so we decided to go to the pool. Hummm.....no pool towels.?? We grabbed the bath towels and headed to the pool. I get back and ask the front desk about the towels and was told that I had to contact the property manager, Misty. I contacted her, only to be told that they did not provide pool towels. Are you kidding me? It's a condo, and you don't offer pool towels? She suggested we go buy some. Considering the pillows were most likely there since the place was built, and Fred Flintstone was calling asking for them back, we made our trip to Walmart on the other side of the island to purchase pillows and towels for our condo stay. The decor is nothing like you see on the pictures that others have posted. Grandma's apple plates, mis-matched cups, bowls, and grandma's corning ware (glass platter) made it challenging to use at the grill, as glass is not allowed in the pool area, and that it where the grills are located. I wrapped them in foil so that I would not be asked to leave. They did have red solo plastic cups as an alternative to the glasses. It went very well with the plastic dollar store flowers that someone attempted to make into arrangements that were not Hawaiian, but rather mid western if I had to guess. I guessed that who ever owned this unit brought all their left overs to this condo. The lamp shades in the living room were ripped so when you turned the lights on it looked run down like the rest of the place, and one was missing from the lamp in the bedroom. I did mention this to Misty, and she said that someone must have forgotten to put it back on, as they replaced them with fresh, new ones. Really? Guess they over looked the ghetto shades in the living room. It was obvious that this unit had ZERO pride of ownership. This owner offers the bare minimum and hasn't put any effort into even trying to give this place a fresh look, with a coat of paint, or Hawaiian experience. Worst experience in my 15 years of traveling to various Condo's in Hawaii, and I have photos for our Maui Nightmare Come True.

Shes lied. everything. there are tons of roaches in the ceiling cracks. company plays cover up when reporting. Refused to handle in any ways promised an offer in regards to refund. then refused to offer anything. ignores calls and all communications. no way to escalate stay away.

I want something that was pretty inexpensive but at the same time close enough to where I need to be. As mentioned before, out popped Airbnb and I decided to book it because it was the right location for me in North Kihei. Everything looked good in the listing so I booked with confidence. My stay here was very nice and it felt like a nice little place, which felt like it was almost like my home away from home (Oahu). The unit that was the Airbnb was located next to a pool within the complex. Unfortunately, I did not use the pool while I was here. Too bad though it would've been nice. Everything worked properly at the time of the stay. I even got to hear all the traffic up and down Kihei road. Best thing was that it was close to the Maui Bus line, so I could hop the bus back to Queen Kaahumanu Center after checking out. The property is large enough to have several buildings on site and is estimated to be a nice place to live on Maui. The process started with Airbnb and booked the listing about 2 months prior to arrival. Upon arrival, I received instructions on how to enter the unit and location. After accessing the unit, I felt right at home. No major problems occurred during my stay here in Kihei and the level of comfort was quite nice. It was very pleasant and quiet. The location in Kihei was very good. I let the host know I made it into the unit okay and upon check out, I informed the host too that I checked out and was on my way home. It was a nice escape to Maui and thankful that I found this listing. While it was a little bit pricey, you could split the payment into two affordable payments to make it less expensive. Can't complain too much though since you're in south Maui, for work or play, it's all good really! I paid about $325/night for 2 nights. Not exactly cheap but I was there for a half marathon event in the area. The overall experience here at the Kihei Bay Surf Resort was very good and picturesque. Definitely next to the ocean but you'd have to deal with the daily traffic coming and going Kihei. Things was good and I thought that it was cool and comfortable, especially when there was nothing really to say anything bad about. There was no visible air conditioning though. I did not know how to use the TV properly so I did not use that during my day. I also did not use the Wi-Fi, so I just use my phone network during my day. I use the freezer for ice cream and I liked the fact that there was ice cubes ready for use. Just had to refill the water into the tray and refreeze it. I used the refrigerator for leftover food during my stay. I did not use the stove because did not have to. For the most part, though, it was like home away from home but a place to rest before and after a half marathon event that started in Iao Valley in Wailuku and finished in Kihei, Maui. The bed itself was fairly comfortable and felt like it was a good nights sleep both nights I was there. If you want a good stay, consider coming to the Kihei Bay Surf. It's nice and safe here in Kihei. Across the street, you have direct access to the public beach. Kihei Bay Surf is located at 715 S Kihei Road on the north end of Kihei Road in Kihei, Maui. The prices fluctuate for the units, but you can get a decent price, based on your needs. There's at least 4 buildings on property, maybe more. Didn't count, but did see a pool during my stay. I'm kicking myself for not enjoying the pool when I was here, but that's a regret I will have. I believe the parking is free but I came by uber and departed by Maui Bus. There are bus stops nearby south bound and northbound on Kihei Road, so you can get anywhere in Maui on the Maui Bus. The Kihei Bay Surf has a lot of parking but I'm sure 95% of them are reserved for the people who live in the condos of the Kihei Bay Surf. There are restaurants nearby within walking distance but best bet would be to drive or catch the Maui bus if you have the time. Of course, you can do uber and Lyft too, if you feel the need to. The Kihei Bay Surf is a nice place to stay while you are in Maui. Centrally located and definitely worth considering on your next trip out here. I checked out Airbnb for the listing. Just feels like home when you're here. Definitely recommended! 5.0 stars for the overall experience Support local! A+

I highly recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed Funnily enough I was. Staying in the same building by the same host the week that the bad review below me was written and the lady was a total whack job who boasted to me about being social media and how she gets people to refund her money unless they want to bad review from her.
